Thanks to the opc lads (jihad, elvis and darragh) for giving me a hand, and thanks to Eugene and Pat for finding the jacket and keeping it for me. Hurray :) I dont know whats happening to me, Im alot more forgetful in the past couple of weeks than Ive been for a long time...

The other main event of goodness was the Jazz Night in Dolans last night in aid of the Limerick Rape Crisis Centre. What a fantastic job the organisers did! Musicians were there from all over the country, and some seriously talented ones at that. The night began with a swing band - most of the musicians hadnt actually played together before - and a Sinatraesque singer. They were excellent. This was followed by half hour (ish) sets from Honor Heffernan, Nigel Mooney and Dorothy Murphy, each fantastic in their own right, and accompanied by phenomenal musicians. I had to leave around quarter to one and the night was still going strong. Upstairs had started but I didnt get to see anything there. But the late night jazz and improv would've been great to see. Serious Kudos to John Daly who ran the event (as well as being the drummer for most of the acts) Im sure it did an awful lot to help the rape crisis centre, which is such a deserving cause.

Tonight is an OPC night out, Im not sure if I'll go to the whole thing, I'll see, but I'll wander down to the stables later anyway and see what the craic is. I must definitely go to circuits, I feel like Ive done very little exercise so far this week, just yoga & climbing on tuesday. Yoga is finished up until after christmas. But I was very proud of myself in the class on tuesday, I feel like Ive come on a lot. I was able to do the lotus postion for a while, including some of the lotus/shoulder-stand combinations! Which I hadnt done before. Needless to say, I got adjusted into the second one, I cant get my arms around the full way, but still!!! So I'll have to actually practice to make sure I dont lose this over the break :)

<draft xmlns="http://purl.org/atom-blog/ns#">false</draft>

w00t!

Great Fun!! Went on the Killarney trip with the OPC. Lots of fun, games, etc etc

I had to head home to Castleisland on the friday evening, had some stuff to do. So I got on the bus, along with mike who was heading to killarney for a funeral, which was leaving at 4pm from the college. 50 minutes later, we are still sitting in Limerick Bus Station. I must write a strongly worded letter to Bus Eireann. I mean, whats the point in getting an early bus, which is supposed to get you home in plenty time, when you have to sit in the bus station for nearly an hour!? My mom had gotten a new wardrobe put into my room and used this excuse to have me get rid of all but one shelf of my worldly possessions...

Anyway - I got on the OPC bus bright and early on Saturday morning, and we headed for Carrauntoohil. The weather was absolutely fantastic, a bit cold, a small bit windy but really clear. We were on for doing the horseshoe, so we started up Caher. There was a big gang of us, around 40 I think, and we were making good enough time until Conor had an unfortunate accident, he dislocated his knee. Ouchies. It was popped in, and splinted up on the spot, but there was no way he could get down from the mountain, so the helicopter had to be brought in. In the meantime, most of the gang headed over to Carrauntoohil, and it was decided to head back the same way. The rescue helicopter arrived when we were nearly back to conor. Wow - what an amazing job they do. Conor and Darragh were winched up to saftey and taken to the hospital. And the rest of us upped the pace and arrived back to the bus, as it was getting fairly late. Got back to the bus just after dark, everyone else safe and unharmed. Conor arrived back to the hostel in Killarney later on, after being bandaged and crutched.

The events continued into the wee hours as everyone headed to Mustang Sallys. We were staying in the same hostel as the UL Kayakers and UCC Kayakers, so it promised to be a great night. There was a bit of fancy dress from the OPC, I went as the pure incarnation of evil, thanks to Maeve for lending me her devil horns. There were transexual cheerleaders, superheros, Disco Stu, lifeguards, vampires and lots of other costumes that just couldnt be mentioned. If there were any pictures, they will have to come with censorship :) Actually, thinking about it, most of the carry on that night is best left undescribed and commited to memory. Needless to say, I had a totally scandal free weekend, chatted to Jimmy and Cathal, who were likewise feeling a bit too old in the company of young'uns.

We went to the Gap of Dunloe for a bit of walking and rock-climbing then on sunday. We took things pretty easy. Steveo regailed us with some singing from the top of the crag, I pity the poor passers by, who must be scared for life. Ive never heard robbie williams "angels" sung like that before :D Some of the lads headed back to Kate Kearneys to recover from the night before, some people headed off for a leisurely walk. I did a small bit of climbing and then the cold got a bit much so headed down to the pub as well. Lots of fun and games, but at least now I know, if I ever burn my finger I must grab my ear because that'll make it all better. Apparently. This remains untested as of yet :P As we were getting ready to leave, Steveo got harrassed by some small children - hilarity ensued. So we got back on the bus, and much singing and gossiping later, we were back in limerick. Unfortunately, my jacket got on the bus with me, it didnt make it off the bus. So hopefully someone got it and I'll find it this evening. At least I hope I will. I certainly cant afford to replace it :(

So that was it, just about made it in today for the 12 o'clock meeting! Lots and lots of fun. Roll on the next OPC weekend!
