ETALK #2 - Jon Duffy, Founder of Duffy Plan

In episode #2 of our ETALK series I had the pleasure of sitting down with Jon Duffy who recently started his new educational planning business. We talk about how his new startup is going and learn more about how he helps aspiring college students and the need for an educational planner. Here is a little backgrounder on Jon Duffy.

Jon earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from West Virginia University in 1991 and a master’s degree in school counseling from Marshall University Graduate College in 1998. His professional experience includes coordination of a school-to-work program in Kanawha County, nominated as Youth Service Provider of the Year by the Bureau of Employment Programs.

Jon has also coordinated professional health science student rotations in Kanawha County, served as a school counselor and has spent the past seven years serving as an educational consultant to colleges and universities throughout the U.S.

Notably in 2005, Jon co-authored research published in The Journal of the First-Year Experience & Students in Transition—investigating factors contributing to college freshmen achievement. Jon most recently served as co-chairman for the 2008 Higher Education Symposium on Emotional Intelligence at Georgetown University.

Having a Blast Doing the On Air Podcast

I wanted to do a quick blog post and share with everyone that we just released our thirteenth On Air Podcast with 5 more in the production room. Since we started just 4 short months ago we approaching 400 subscribers in over 6 country's and started a new podcast series called ETALK. Thank you so much to everyone who has listened and supported our podcast. We are very excited about the response and it keeps us motivated to get to the mic every chance we get and share our knowledge and experience with our listeners.

The goal of our podcast is to be the must listen to podcast for entrepreneurs which is our tagline for the show. We want to bring straightforward and no nonsense advice on entrepreneurship and the financial markets to entrepreneurs and small business owners. Rob Wilmink, my business partner, hosts the show with me. His area of expertise is trading in the stock market. I bring my experience as an entrepreneur in the tech industry with my most recent work focused on entrepreneurial development. We join the two topics of entrepreneurship and the financial markets and give you our take on what's going on in the market and how it affects entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Recently, we had Ed Bodnar take photos of us in action doing a podcast. We wanted you guys be able to see what it looks like for us to do an On Air Podcast. We will be posting pictures soon so be on the lookout for a future blog post. Below is our most recent podcast where we give a general market update and talk about the 3 disciplines you can master in your life that will help you be more disciplined.
