The Royal British Legions Silence in the Square event, compered by Ben Shephard featured performances by Athlete, Cerys Matthews, Only Men Aloud, Mark Knopfler and Stephen Fry.

The crowd of almost 10,000 gathered to observe the 2 minutes silence and pay tribute to those killed in over 90 years of conflict.

Dire Straits vinyl reissue

Warner Bros will re-release first Dire Straits album on 180 gram vinyl (catalog nbr. 93624978305) on December 15, 2009. The reissue is mastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog master tapes.

New single for Remembrance Day Poppy Appeal

All proceeds from the single of Remembrance Day / Piper To The End from Mark Knopfler’s new album Get Lucky are being donated to The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. The release is planned for November 09.

Reffering to The Royal British Legion website Mark will be appearing at Silence in the Square event at Trafalgar Square on November 11, 2009.
