It's been a while that I've been programming ActionScript, but I recently started dusting off my rusty skills. I've been playing around with the Twitter API using swfjunkie's Tweetr library. In the process I discovered that this library suffers from the Twitpocalypse bug.

For those of you that just want to know if it works or not, the answer is yes. Yes! It worked! Gladly, I didn't order the various hardware and software components for nothing. I can now watch digital (HD) television, movies and listen to music on the Mac mini using a single remote.

I'm probably one of the last Mohicans, but I still watch tv on an old 4:3 television set. It isn't even worthy of calling it a set. It's just an old CRT tube. Now, I want to use a Mac Mini as the viewing and recording apparatus for digital tv. Sounds easy you'd say, but I didn't know about smart-cards, CAM modules, CI slots, DVB-C/S2/T...

New bike

And now for something completely different: I picked up my new bicycle at the Bikeshop yesterday! I have always bought inexpensive secondhand (or 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th...) bikes. Sort of a habit since college, mostly because bikes get stolen in Holland extremely often. It is normal - for me at least - to own a bike for about one or two years until it gets jacked.

FLV Player 2.0.25 released

I just released FLV Player 2.0, build 25. In this version I have added a 'video-only mode' (toggle on/off with [tab]). This allows you to view a video without visible UI components. While in video-only mode, you can still drag the video around. Another addition is the ability to change the volume with [arrow-up] and [arrow-down].

No custom headers for Flash file upload. Why?

I got excited when I learned that YouTube opened their API for third party developers. This would enable me to - for example - create a nifty AIR widget to quickly upload videos to my YouTube account. Drag-and-drop a video file onto the AIR app and have the uploading done in the background. Cool!
