Thanks! Yes I will do the updates on a regular base now, that was the main reason to switch. And it's just so much faster now as well.. not to mention the fact that I save almost 19$/month. I'm just an idiot for being so lazy and not to have done the migration much earlier.

I'm gladly come back to your offer..Actually having done the switch to Mac I'm pretty positive that this will have a substantial impact on my motivation to get back a bit to webdesign. I just discovered Textmate - an astonishing texteditor which almost codes by itself ;-) Or do you have a better recommendation?

But one thing I'd be really happy about would be some short mails if you discover some heavy english errors in my new posts - it's so exhausting to write a post and knowing exactly that there are some swiss german "Holzfällerenglisch" idioms and clear other errors in it - but not knowing where they are ;-)

Hurray for better hosting. Getting hacked however... I noticed you barely ever did the updates for WP... that's one important thing to do since over 60% of all updates are security fixes ;-) Keep updating. And oh, yes, if you need someone to make you a nice and snazzy CSS file for your new blog... I'd be glad to do that.

You know how I feel for the military personnel and how high my respect is for them.
So this is nothing against McCain who in my view has the misfortune of coming too late or at the wrong moment into the presidential game.

But after an administration that has a criminal percentage that is higher (12% of gov. administrators) than it has ever been, a change really is needed. In a time where the dialogue is so endangered by bigotry and venomous prejudice, I think a complete change is better than anything else.
We've had a similar situation a few years back when Kohl left and Schröder came. I really am no socialist, but at that point I was for the change. The US need someone who can unite them from within. McCain would be a father figure much more than a figure of a unity of peers.

Just my two cents.

That's true and I certainly will get a copy of this book. But still - the focus of a democrat or an republican administration varies - and in these times and after what I've read from Mr Obama till now I doubt that a democrat administration would really be the best choice.. Also the other major threat - the war against terrorism - it's not about words but about action - and if I compare the military and the foreign policy background of the two candidates I just can't see any advantage for Mr Obama at the moment. But berhaps these answers are in the book...

You should read the 'Audacity of Hope'. Gives you a great insight in the complicated and intricate workings of the Amercian Democracy which nobody suspects to be that different from ours.

Apple is overloaded with Marketing Hype and does not have enough energy to focus on Technology. The iPhone should be a lot more OpenSource, as the rest of Apple's Technologies.

Well, there are various (offline) solutions for blogging. Just to round up your post:

- there's the FF extension Scribefire (newly acquired and nicely overhauled) that opens a half window in your browser, effectively letting you browse to a site you want to blog about and write in the same window pane... But then again, that's not really useful for offline blogging. Before Scribefire was relaunched, it used to work is any Wordpress API.

- <a href="http://flock.com/" rel="nofollow">Flock</a>, a social browser, based on the mozilla philosophy, versatile and easy handling things like poto upload and blogging right into your blog, whatever the software. Flock is about to launch it's 1.0 version, so maybe wait it out (It also works perfectly with Flickr, Photobucket etc. so for all things nice and shiny in the internet-verse)

- For windows offline bloggin: <a href="http://www.qumana.com/overview.htm" rel="nofollow">Qumana</a>, is quite intuitive and easy to use. And the eternally difficult task of putting up pictures is as simple as ever.

- if you have a nice layout and would really like to write your post within your layout, the best solution so far is the <a href="http://windowslivewriter.spaces.live.com/" rel="nofollow">Windows Livewriter</a>. Yes, it's windows, but wow, is it nice and neat. It downloads your css file in order for you to blog into your blog like it will be on the actual site. Again, very good for photos and other bits and pieces. If you have a layout that relies heavily on Wordpress plugins however (Pullquotes etc.) you won't get that into any program, alas.

- For Mac: The easiest is <a href="http://infinite-sushi.com/software/ecto/" rel="nofollow">Ecto</a>. Light and very versatile for channel blog writing (when you start writing several things before actually publishing them). No WYSYWIG like the Livewriter, and that's the real shame ;))
