Are you going to do any showmanship with this - mat light/spotlights, face-off/introductions with music, live national anthem, elevated mat, etc. This has some great momentum to be an annual event, might as well raise the bar to set the standard for future events like this.

Coach Sean Harrington (Brickhouse Wrestling Club in Lowell) will be hosting a Freestyle wrestling practice for the Mass. "National Team" on the same day (Sat. April 7th. @ Noon). *All interested wrestlers are invited to attend & participate (FREE of charge). [link]

Coach Sean Harrington will be coaching the Public Dual Team at the Prep vs. Public - Charity Dual event.

There will be introductions with music, live National Anthem, etc. I expect it to be very classy. Professional doing the video (Riccio Productions). Great athletes. I don't expect anyone to be let down.

I suspect that Ryan O'Boyle is going to make this a closer bout than people are giving him credit for: I'd be surprised if Jeff Ott majors O'Boyle.

Great concept for an outstanding event however all the bouts go! Make it an annual!

Eagle Tribune is reporting that O'boyle is not wrestling due to a head injury incurred at nationals this past weekend. Too bad I think most people had circled 126 as a match of interest.

that's too bad about O'boyle, but got to take head injuries seriously - he should take as long as he needs and then some.

why not break ranks and get Malone from CT/Sem to fill in for O'boyle? So what if that would be a prep/prep matchup, he's probably best NE wrestler at any weight so would be fun to watch.

Get Sughrue! He obviously just had a bad NE tournament. I'm sure he'd be a bigger draw having beat O'Boyle, than a kid who got TF in 4 mins.

@Sharyn, you're right, I'm not trying to mess with the program, just thought since it is so last minute, it would be great to see a national talent like Malone wrestle. haven't he and Ott wrestled before? could be a fun rematch for both and a treat for the fans

i say if your gon break anything like that i would say go with a public guy maybe Mizam whos walking around 130 and was the favorite to win NE at 132 and is an all american

I think this whole concept is fantastic. Great idea by Jeff Ott. After he finishes what I anticipate will be an outstanding wrestling career, he should become a promoter. With the talent that Jeff has lined up, this will go a long way toward deciding who has the best wrestlers, Prep or Public.

I would love to see this concept expanded in the future, perhaps having an entire tournament with the top eight in the NE Preps and the top 8 in NE Publics in each bracket. As good as these matchupos are, having so many talented wrestlers in one tournament would be spectacular.

Unfortunalty I won't be able to attend the event but I'll be following it on this site. I hope womeone will be able to post updates as the event progresses
