In all processes we trust experts in many disciplines: dentists, midwives, doctors, nutritionists and especially mothers and fathers.

We get the most reliable advice, however from Mother Nature. As can be seen from our orthodontic teats and soothers which are asymmetrically shaped and based on the shape of female nipple when breastfeeding. [/two_third]

NUK teats and soothers naturally adapt to the shape of the jaw, train the oral muscles and prevent your baby from swallowing air with the special vent anti-colic air system.

Our entire product range shows that this approach systematically leads to well thought through solutions. NUK products are based on each other and are optimally adapted to the various development stages of your child from birth through to toddler age. With NUK, you can therefore be absolutely certain that you are always doing the right thing for your child from the start.

Everyone has a morning routine they could never imagine altering. But what if the actions of your morning routine were negatively impacting your body and mood for the rest of the day without you knowing?

Here are four of the most common morning rituals people commit in the morning that should be stopped:

1. Hitting the snooze button

The alarm goes off and you hit snooze to enjoy the next ten minutes in your warm cosy bed. “I’ll feel alive after these extra few minutes” you tell yourself. Hitting the snooze button multiple times actually throws off your circadian rhythm or “internal clock” instead of feeling energized after your extra snooze you fell groggy.

TIP! Instead of setting multiple alarms or snoozing for an extra hour set your alarm for later in the morning. It will be easier to get up at this time because your body is well rested in its sleep schedule.

2. Only having coffee for breakfast

It’s tempting to skip breakfast in order to sleep in an extra ten minutes but skipping breakfast alters your mood and energy levels for the whole day. Coffee increases your metabolism as well as increasing the production of the hormone cortisol. Too much cortisol can result in extra belly fat, lowered immune function, and impaired cognition.

TIP! It’s perfectly fine to have coffee WITH your breakfast just not as your whole breakfast. Pair your coffee with a granola bar, muffin, or scone that you can eat on the go and feel energised all day.

3. Checking your phone as soon as you wake up

After waking up to your phone alarm it is easy to get distracted by your emails, text messages and social media accounts. You might think this a relaxing way to wake up but depending on the content you are viewing this could be harmful to your daily mood. The first image we see or song we hear in the day sets our mood, so if it’s a negative tweet or Facebook post it could put you in a negative place without you even noticing.

TIP! Stay in bed and meditate or stretch to release all the negative energies from your body and jump-start your day!

4. Swapping out sleep for the gym

Dragging yourself out of bed for your 8am spin class might look like dedication but its actually body suicide. Forcing your body to workout early in the morning when it is not “awake” cancels out all the hard-work you are putting in at the gym. Chronic sleep deprivation — or getting six hours or less a night on a regular basis — can lead to injury while working out.

TIP! Take a later workout class or switch your gym routine to after work.

We don’t know about you, but we’re sensing a mighty strong correlation here.

What exactly is it?

Shigellosis, or the winter vomiting bug as it’s better known is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria group Shigella.

Some of the nasty effects of shigellosis are:

Stomach cramps

Diaorrhea

High temperature

Nausea

How long will it last?

Usually, the virus will move quickly through your system and should be out within a week. If it goes on for longer, don’t hesitate to consult with your doctor.

How does it spread so rapidly?

The reason why it spreads so rapidly through schools is simple; the bacteria thrives in places of poor hygiene.

And we don’t mean the buildings themselves, but hands that aren’t washed properly after going to the toilet, door knobs, light switches – you get the picture. Most recently in the UK, it has spread rapidly through family groups.

Make sure your kids know how to wash their hands properly. Read here for some tips, tricks and songs to get them to suds up the right way!

What to do if you or your kids contract the bug?

Although nasty (really nasty), Shigella is rarely dangerous. Apart from letting it run through your system, there’s not much else to be done. But here are some pointers to help you and your family get through it:

Try to keep hydrated throughout your bout of the bug – drink lots of fluids.

Rest – there’s nothing for it but to rest up and try to get better. Children who have contracted shigellosis are recommended to stay home at least five days, or until symptoms have not reappeared for two days. Check with your child’s school or creche to find out what their sick policy is.

In cases where there is blood in stools, your GP should be contacted and notified to make sure any complications haven’t developed.

Who is most likely to catch it?

Children under the age of four are most likely to catch the winter vomiting bug. In adults, the male-to-female ratio in the UK is as high as 4.7 to 1. This is believed to be due to sexual transmission among men who have sex with men.

Having a baby is tough. Having a baby for the first time is even tougher. If you’re a new parent, or about to be one, things are going to change a lot! We have the most common things new parents fight about and how to solve them.

Sleep

The only ‘S’ word you’re thinking of these days! The sacred sleep. This is probably the biggest argument you and your significant other will have when you become new parents. Who gets more, who deserves more, who awakes from it when baby cries and so on and so forth. Try to make a compromise, both of you are responsible for your beautiful little crying bundle of joy and both of you deserve sleep ins, or to sleep through the night. If one of you works during the week and doesn’t do the night shifts then, ask this person to do the weekends. Be generous with each other as much as possible, and focus on that current 24 hours instead of the entire week’s sleep schedule.

The ‘right way’ to do things

Arguing over who does what best is another disagreement you both will have. The parent who spends the most time with baby can sometimes think they know best. However, this can prevent the other parent from learning. If it isn’t affecting your baby in a huge way, try and keep criticism for how your partner handles things to a minimum.

Who the baby wants

Sometimes, the phrase “but the baby wants you?” is used, often around the time they are screaming crying and uncontrollably upset, and this can sometimes result in an argument! Your partner may shrink away from a screaming baby due to feelings of inadequacy when it comes to being able to calm him or her down. Establish a routine, setting up familiarity, where you take turns to calm down your baby and reduce inclination for baby to settle better with one parent over the other.

Feeling unappreciated

Whether you’re at work all day, or at home minding baby, sometimes both parties can feel under appreciated due to the other not really knowing exactly how hard you worked that day. You both have worked hard, and after a stressful day, with baby or with work, feeling appreciative of your partner’s hard efforts can sometimes go unexpressed. Simple gestures, such as a compliment here and there creates a stronger and more positive working dynamic between you two.

Having less/no sex

This can be a shock to your partner when baby arrives. Baby takes both your attention 24/7, and can mean your relationship as a couple can be put on hold in the beginning, as all your energy is going into learning how to look after baby. One of you may feel less appreciated or less in focus when a baby arrives, and tiredness can lead to crankiness and a lesser focus on romance. Your days and nights will both be action packed, with work and the baby at home, but try to make use of the quiet moments (if you’re not sleeping!) Sit together at the end of the day, if only to talk one on one about yourselves and focus on something you appreciate about them, how you’re glad you’re sharing this journey with them. It will get easier, we promise.
