Some wedding days feel like pure magic, and Kathy and Zeya’s Frutig Farms wedding in Ann Arbor was just that. From the heartfelt first looks to the joyful dancing under the barn, every moment was unforgettable.

A Memorable First Look

Kathy and Zeya’s day began with their first look in front of the farmhouse at Frutig Farms. A light drizzle began to fall as they saw each other for the first time, but as if on cue, the rain stopped just as they embraced. One of the most touching moments of the day was Kathy’s first look with her parents. The love and pride in their eyes were palpable. They didn’t need to say a word, they just embraced their daughter with open arms and the warmest smiles.

An Intimate Ceremony by the Pond

The couple’s ceremony took place near the pond under a floral-adorned pergola. Surrounded by lush greenery and their closest family and friends, Kathy and Zeya exchanged vows on an overcast May day. The intimate setting, combined with the heartfelt words they shared, had nearly every guest wiping away tears. The joy on Kathy and Zeya’s faces as they walked down the aisle together was contagious!!! Seriously, the entire crowd was cheering for them and there was a special kind of love energy on this day.

Portraits That Captured Their Love

I adored their portrait photos together. Kathy and Zeya’s gentle connection and quiet moments of affection were so touching to capture. You could feel how deeply they valued every second of this day spent together. The soft, overcast light provided the perfect setting for their portraits, casting a natural, even glow that highlighted their joy.

My favorite images came from in front of the pond, where the gentle drizzle from earlier left the grass a lush, vibrant green.. The way they held each other, smiled, and laughed during this time made it clear how much this day symbolized not just their union but the start of a deeply meaningful journey together. Words didn’t need to be spoken, they just embraced the time together.

A Celebration to Remember

After their formal family photos, Kathy and Zeya joined their guests for cocktails and dinner under the expansive tent. The space was filled with laughter, love, and the incredible aroma of Zingerman’s catering. As the evening unfolded, Richard from Michael’s Entertainment kept the dance floor alive with his impeccable playlist, ensuring the celebration was one for the books.

Ellen’s parents hosted Ellen and Dylan’s wedding at their “barn” in Walloon Lake. They transformed their property into a venue brimming with charm, history, and heart. Central to their vision was the restoration of an old barn, a two-year project that culminated in a celebration filled with love, joy, and unforgettable details.

The ladies’ morning started with preparation on Walloon Lake at Ellen’s grandmother’s cottage. The gentleman squeezed in an early morning round of golf and before dressing at the white farmhouse on the property.

Ellen and Dylan shared a heartfelt first look at the lake cottage.

As guests arrived they were greeted and guided through the beautifully restored barn to a deck overlooking the cocktail lawn, orchard, and ceremony site. They were greeted by alpacas adorned with floral wreaths

The ceremony was held on the edge of the orchard beneath a weathered farm gate draped in chiffon and accented with a crystal chandelier. The cloudly baby blue skies, rustling field grass and green trees in the distance made for a picturesque backdrop. Ellen arrived to the top of the aisle in a vintage blue Ford truck, driven by her dad. Dylan held back tears as Ellen walked to the front with her dad and they both let out giant smiles and laughs as they greeted each other.

After the ceremony guests watched as the couple drove off across the farm in old blue. Ellen and Dylan shared a moment before the family formal photographs. 

Guests enjoyed custom cocktails, lawn games, and stunning views before dinner under a sailcloth tent. Sweetwater Floral’s arrangements of white blooms with peach and blue accents adorned tables dressed in textural blue linens. Candlelight and custom macrame chandeliers, handcrafted by Dylan’s mom, added a personal, romantic touch.

As the sun set, the barn came alive with music from The Jerry Ross Band. Guests sipped espresso martinis around the bonfire and enjoyed best the scenery northern Michigan has to offer.

Caroline and Will’s wedding in Traverse City, Michigan, was a beautiful celebration. The couple, who are college sweethearts living in Chicago, chose the Northern Michigan area for their special day. Surrounded by stunning landscapes and loved ones, their wedding day was filled with joy and unforgettable memories.

The day began with both Caroline and Will preparing in separate homes by the water, each with their families by their side. The serene lakeside setting provided the perfect backdrop for their pre-ceremony moments. Will’s dad even took a quick dip in the lake before getting dressed, adding a touch of fun and spontaneity to the morning.

No details were skipped on this day, including Will’s cufflinks, which featured the iconic Bean (Cloud Gate) sculpture from Chicago, a nod to their home city. These personal touches, along with the breathtaking setting, made Caroline and Will’s wedding day truly one-of-a-kind.

Caroline and Will’s first look was a highlight of the day. Will’s genuine reaction to Caroline’s incredibly designed dress says it all. Afterward, Will scooped up Caroline in a vintage getaway car. The ceremony took place at the historic Kirkbride Hall, located in The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. The venue’s charm and elegance perfectly matched Caroline and Will’s vision for their big day.

The reception was held at the Traverse City Country Club, where guests gathered to celebrate the newlyweds. From the heartfelt speeches to the lively dance floor, the evening was filled with laughter and love. Will’s grandpa added his special sense of humor to the day, even getting a playful smack with a cane in return at one point.

The Chuppa, positioned atop the bifurcated stairs, became the focal point, surrounded by guests seated in the balcony. The venue’s gold walls and red carpet created a glamorous and romantic atmosphere, perfect for a candlelit celebration.

A Rooftop Reception with a View

Cocktail hour on the Detroit Opera House rooftop offered guests a special view of Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers. The lively atmosphere was enhanced by the distant roar of the crowd as two home runs were hit during the celebration!

The Detroit Opera House is the perfect venue for those wanting a unique architecture and elegant ambiance.

Vasantha and Luke’s wedding celebration, nestled near Ann Arbor on Luke’s parent’s property, was an intimate and heartfelt fusion of cultures, brimming with touching moments. The day unfolded with a blend of traditions, creating a unique and special experience for everyone involved.

The bride, Vasantha, exuded kindness and generosity. There wasn’t a moment the entire day she wasn’t smiling. One of my favorite moments of the wedding was Vasantha’s mother and mother-in-law sharing a moment on the porch just before Vasantha walked out in her wedding dress for the first time. The photographs captured the authentic moments that followed perfectly.

Another special moment, imbued with significance, arrived later in the day. Vasantha’s mother, placing Vasantha’s hands in Luke’s parents’ hands, entrusted their daughter to their care with these touching words: “She is your daughter now too, take care of her.” This act of love and trust encapsulates the essence of this intimate fusion wedding.

Amidst the serenity of their backyard, Vansatha and Luke embarked on a joyous journey with their cherished loved ones in South Lyon, Michigan. The air was filled with anticipation and excitement as they gathered for the auspicious pre-wedding ritual – the haldi ceremony.

With roots tracing back to India, the haldi ceremony holds profound significance in uniting two souls in matrimony. As Vansatha’s mother journeyed from afar to partake in this cherished tradition, the bond of family and heritage was beautifully celebrated.

Amidst the laughter and warmth, turmeric paste adorned the faces and bodies of the soon-to-be-wedded couple, symbolizing blessings for a prosperous union. And amidst the fragrance of rose water, Vansatha’s radiance glowed, embodying the timeless grace of tradition blended with modern love.

Family took turns showering Vasantha with flowers, blessings, and well wishes. Their haldi ceremony, a testament to the beauty of tradition intertwined with the uniqueness of their love, illuminated their path forward, promising a lifetime of happiness and togetherness.

Shanti and Dustin’s Intimate Backyard Wedding –  Plymouth, Michigan

Shanti and Dustin tied the knot in a beautiful backyard wedding at their home in Plymouth, Michigan. The wedding was a small and intimate affair, attended by 9 of their closest family members. The event was made all the more special by the fact that Dustin’s brother, Jordan, officiated the ceremony.

The couple chose to have a formal dinner in their backyard, under a tent. The ambiance was cozy and intimate, with warm candlelight and vibrant pink flowers serving as the centerpiece. The flower arrangements were a standout feature of the event and added a pop of color to the already picturesque setting.

The day wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible effort of Emma, the event planner from Meriwether Social. Emma was instrumental in bringing Shanti and Dustin’s vision to life, ensuring every detail was taken care of. From setting up the formal dinner to coordinating with the photographer, Emma was there every step of the way, making sure everything ran smoothly. Her attention to detail and passion for event planning were evident in the seamless execution of the day. Shanti and Dustin were able to relax and enjoy their special day, knowing that Emma was taking care of everything.

The most memorable moment came when their son, Lucas, wanted to get involved. On the front porch, he read his parents’ vows and pronounced them husband and wife. This touching moment was a testament to the love and support the family shares, and it was a highlight of the day for everyone in attendance.
