Guess what? We got wind in December. We almost had a swell...but just a bit outside. Luckily there is a new one with teeth to bear down us. Right now its just hitting the outer buoys at 9ft and 21 seconds. The is supposed to freshen...so get ready for some elite kiteboarding. Aloha and good luck.

Well we got some wind and the swell is dropping. It's really east...in the next week it supposed lighten up. On the good side we got two big swells starting Tuesday. Then we got wind due to a new high pressure developing. Good news for December. Aloha and good luck

Wind and waves are basically a Maui tradition. Yet, there are new and exciting ways to kite and promote kiting. Gone are the ways of launching on a windy day and going out and having some fun. Indoors is the order of the day. Shoot the shot and sell the product...do you really need to actually kite?

Rodeo Loop

Maybe one of the hardest kite tricks...the Rodeo Loop. The secret to this trick is the size of steer that needs to used. Pick one too big and the loop gets low and lazy. Pick one too small and the loop goes high tight resulted and a short landing. Each bull has a unique name and number used to identify the bull. A sufficient number of bulls, each judged to be of good strength, health, agility, and age, are selected to perform. Duke choose Black eye and Double Barrel. At first sight, there doesn't appear to be much in the way of equipment used during a bull kiting. However, riders use many pieces of equipment both functionally and to ensure maximum safety, both to themselves and to the animals involved. Aloha and good luck

KSP One Eye Pro Daily Update: Day 3

September 25, 2011: With a solid breeze mid-morning on day three of the KSP One Eye Pro, Round 1 of the men’s division resumed. Kiting on 7- to 9-meter kites, competitors once again had phenomenal waves — 4 to 6 feet (Hawaiian), 8- to 12-foot faces. Scoring each rider on up to 15 waves per heat, judges rated each wave ridden on a scale of .1 to 10 and combined each rider’s two top waves for a total potential score of 20.

Indonesian resident Marc Ramseier (Switzerland) showed a lot of commitment with his powerful, full rail turns in the pulsing surf to score an impressive 9.27 and 8.77 — totaling to 18.04 — the highest score of Round 1. Jesse Richman (Hawaii), Patri McLaughlin (Hawaii/North) and Sky Solbach (USA/North), all riding strapless, scored in the 14- to 16-point range, exhibiting a high degree of speed, power and control with top to bottom surfing. John Amundson (Hawaii/North), Bruno Bordowsky (Brazil) and Oswald Smith (South Africa), riding in straps, also scored in a similar range.

Women’s Round 1 came next. Murdering 12 waves during her 15-minute heat, local wave slayer Ninja Bichler (Germany) scored a remarkable 18.1 for seamlessly linking big arching turns, big hits under the lip, long rides and even some switchstance surfing. Earning 16.06, the second highest score of Women’s Round 1, Ines Correira (Portugal) destroyed her fair share of waves as well.

Before the day’s end, Men’s Round 2 kicked off, featuring head-to-head competition between riders who didn’t advance from Round 1. Of the five heats completed (out of 8), Jeremy Eloy (France/North), 2010 Kite Surf World Champion Guilly Brandao (Brazil), Juan Pabloo Diban (Chile), 2008 World Champion Mitu Monteiro (Cabo Verde) and Bruno Bordowsky (Brazil) advanced. Eloy, Monteiro and Brandao, all riding strapped, were the standouts with scores in the 14.2 to 16.3 range. Brandao attacked the lip with his patented backhand snaps while Eloy opted to keep busy, picking off as many set waves as possible. Monteiro found one of the few cover-ups of the day through the inside bowl on his forehand.

The forecast for tomorrow promises another day of great wind and swell (likely a bit smaller than today, but building in the late afternoon). Conditions permitting, Men’s Round 2 will resume in the a.m., followed by Women’s Round 2 and so forth.

After a solid week of surf we are all a little burnt out. As for the next couple of days...looks like the SUP my be back in business. There are two small swells on the way and the trades will be back on Monday late or tuesday. Wing or Kite?

Ok windies...well I've been super busy lately with lessons but I finally have a breather to give a little report. I have been making a mega movie for "Maui Mini Movie" It will be out at this fall. So for the past year I have been talking to Monte about his wing. I looks like it has finally been completed. He hasn't set a time for it's first fly time but knowing Monte it should be soon. I know he is looking for more investors. The wing is made out of foam. It was laminated in carbon. As for the dimensions that is a secret. If you have questions about the wing give me a response and I will relay it right to him. Aloha and Good Luck
