TIP: you should limit attempts to use advertising on a new website. Instead you should put your efforts into developing site traffic and return visitors (loyalty!!) through the use of great content and fabulous site presentation. Once you have decent traffic then the advertising will be more acceptable to your visitors.

This seems like a No-Brainer doesn’t it? Then why in the world is the Internet full of cookie cutter websites that are launched solely for the purpose of gleaning a penney or two from Adsense placements? Because we are all greedy and want to grab the cash before someone else makes off with all of it!. I am just as guilty of this as anyone else. A few weeks ago I promised myself that I would have at least 100 websites out there for the purpose of Adsense income. Then today I started doing a bit of studying and categorizing and realized just how foolish this may be.

There are only sixty seconds in a minute, sixty minutes in an hour, twenty-four hours in a day….all right you can see where I am going with this so I will get on with it. Point is QUALITY. If all you do is spread hundreds of pages throughout the cyber-world there is absolutely no way you can maintain quality on even a small percentage of these sites. Yet this will definitely give you what you started out to get…hundreds of available Adsense blocks can almost guarantee more than a few clicks through the day. And the way Adsense is set up, the more displayed ads you have on a page translates to advertisers who have a smaller budget and (of course) lower priced clicks yield a smaller revenue. Yep!… you will definitely get your share of the LOW PRICED CLICKS!! and that is probably what you deserve.

This brings us back to the TIP (top of post) and how to proceed there. Content has just about been beat to death. If you really want to display your expertise within your website pages then you will create with a subject that you know something about. This means you will stay within an area you appreciate which automatically translates into a desire to create something meaningful. You will be able to develop a strong voice within your niche, keeping your content fresh and your visitors interested. This also increases the chance that you will attract site advertisers paying for impressions rather than clicks, which is usually more lucrative on the financial return.

So we are down to traffic. Traffic is the vein through which the gold ore of click income flows. You can have a website filled with content the likes which has never been equaled on the Internet and if you have a minimum amount of visitors than your return will also be a minimum amount. However the quality of traffic needs to remain high just as your content needs to be attractive. You could possibly buy a mailing list which would produce thousands of daily visitors. HOWEVER…if that traffic has little interest in your content then there is little likelihood they will stick around long enough to be enticed into clicking an ad or two. Result….no $$$$$ at the end of the month.

Bottom line here after these many lines of type is that your traffic needs to consist of an audience that has an interest in your product. When Google crawls your site pages the ads that are displayed generally fall within the area of the content. For this reason you need to attract visitors that are not only interested in your product but also have an interest in the type of ad displayed there. If you seek to draw your “brand” of visitor your success will increase multifold. Stick within your niche by posting on like forums, when you do your article marketing be sure your subject remains true to your website content. When you are on the hunt for backlinks look in areas that have the same relevance your site does. And if you troll for traffic on social sites be sure you go for those where your interests are served. In other words you should not create a great website and then be stupid about how you fill your statcounter each and every day.

So continue to freshen up your content…polish your skills within your niche to develop a steady stream of new and returning visitors that will become loyal to your expertise. THEN plop a few blocks of Google Adsense ads on your pages and you should easily harvest enough $$$$ to warrant the hard work you have invested.

It probably does not matter how many times you are told that your sites need to “content-rich” you will still get a shiver up your spine when you hear the words. And of course this statement is then followed up with “don’t worry you can do it. It really is not very hard to include content-rich material on your site”. So how many of us worry? Starting out probably about 100% and that statistic doesn’t drop nearly as fast as it should.

The one thing that we know is necessary to build a great site writing that will grab and hold the attention of your visitor. So what if you have yet mastered the art of placing words into print that create magical situations? No problem, operative word in this situation would be to OUTSOURCE your work. The money you spend for a ghostwriter or a guest writer possibly will be returned to you many fold over with the quality of the content and the time frame in which it is delivered. Still, this option requires that you give up a bit of “ownership” to your site and is hard to accept for those who want full control over what is published in their name. Maybe it will work for you if you hire work at first while you perfect your own art. As your writing skills progress you can take back as much of the workload as you feel comfortable producing.

What matters is that you publish great content and CONTINUE to publish the same or better quality in the future. If you hit the internet in the morning with an hour or two of idle surfing you will not be able to produce quality and quantity sufficient to keep your site updated and attractive. So here we come with the watchword for positive progress…..DISCIPLINE. Allow yourself to get distracted from your website chores and sooner (rather than later) you will find a couple of big 0’s in your visitor count report.

The problem with discipline is that it is not a coat or sweater that you can put on at your leisure. If you want to continually produce you must continually produce! What is meant by that is that the creation of content for your site must become a habit. It will be necessary for you to create a schedule and stick to it. If you produce better at 9:00 A.M. then what should you be doing at 8:59? Well unless I am in this big old internet by myself this evening the answer is : GETTING READY TO PRODUCE BETTER.

This is a quality I have yet to perfect. I am easily distracted by T.V. or the barking dog next door or even listening to vehicles driving by on the street. And of course there are many times that minutes and hours (hopefully not days!) slip by me and I have little to show for it.

I need to take lessons from my wife. This lady is constantly in motion with housework, job demands or social time with friends and relatives. However she has perfected the habit of sitting down for at least one hour each morning (and this is 7 days per week) to do some studying. And she consistently is able to produce much more than myself as I watch that extra hour or so of T.V. before getting to work.

So bottom line is that content-rich material does not fall from the sky. In order to create your website and keep it updated you must continue to work. It does not matter if you hire some of the work, you still must spend the time to put it to good use. Maybe it is time to take a bit of time and create a schedule for yourself. Line out the chores that must be done each and every day. Then prioritize this list and staple a copy to your forehead.

Somehow it just keeps coming back to the same thing. In order to create you must put yourself in the position to create. In other words——JUST DO IT!!!!!

Content is King….Content is King…..Content is King….There are days that I absolutely shudder when I hear, read or speak those three words. But I am trying to be involved in what will make money through the Adsense program. And guess what??? Content is King. So lets take another quick peek at what is what. All of the books/reports/cd and ebooks will tell you that creating a content-rich website may seem a little intimidating but YOU CAN DO IT!! Truth is you can. If you have extensive knowledge of your subject it is a piece of cake. Yet even if you have limited knowledge you should be able to create good stuff with just a minimum of research.

Availability of content? The biggest hurdle is deciding what the content should cover. If your subject is something familiar you already know where to get the information. If you are building your site on something you have little familiarity with yet have a desire to cover it still remains simple. Other people with similar interests want the same stuff covered that you did. So lets examine one of the most popular content creators….Articles…

With articles you have a virtual plethora of information. There is so much stuff available on the internet that it would be implausible to think you can run out of fresh stuff. There are just a few base rules to follow with articles…
*In order to keep the article interesting to the reader you should keep it short. Most articles seem to be between 500 ands 750 words with a few slipping in around 300 or so and the lloooonnnnnggggg ones ranging over 1000 words. Better be a great wordsmith to hold a visitors interest when you scribble 1000 to 1200 words! Many people do not want to spend the energy to scroll down the page for longer articles so if you are wordy maybe you should consider breaking the information into two or three parts.
*Relevancy is the ticket when you are using articles. Your goal is to maintain your visitors interest for a period of time that will equate some sort of profit to you. Write about Goldfish on a Golfing website and you will have a very very very quick turnover in visitors.
*Your articles should be written to educate or entertain your visitors. Depending on the subject you use you can approach the article with a humorous, sarcastic or high-brow attitude. Might be a good idea to rotate through different writing styles until you find what is the most attractive to your clients.

There are a few methods to use to source your article. Primarily you should attempt to pen most of them yourself. It is your heart you are pouring into the site so what could be better than your own insight to the content. Again, practice a few styles until you discover what tickles the fancy of those who click on your pages. It is commonly said that anybody can write. You may start off a bit slow but your skills should pick up at the tempo of your website does. What could be better to attract a large and loyal audience than to demonstrate your personal growth as your business grows.

However, when you run out of ideas to liven the place up you have a few alternatives. The easy and inexpensive one is to grab hold of a few packets of PLR articles regarding your niche. While these frequently are ill-written (grammar and spelling) they are a fantastic resource of ideas. Generally you will not want to load any of these directly to your site until you clean them up a bit. Just like a good farm crop you can harvest the PLR ideas and cultivate them into articles with your personal spin to them. Fantastic way to renew your content during those frequent dry spells when you just cannot produce satisfactory original material.

And lastly, if you get to the point where you just cannot produce enough content to satisfy you and your clients you might want to investigate purchasing articles from an article writer. When you find a good one you should be able to receive quality content produced close to your style. Only caveat here is that when you use purchased content you might lose control of your style. Then if you need to regain total control you may have a bit of a problem.

Enough article stuff. I just edited this post and find I may not be following my own advice. How about those viewing dropping me a comment or two and let me know how it was received? Thanks

The food industry of the entire world was changed the day that McDonalds started serving the Big Mac through a drive up window. As society continues the quest for “instant” other industries have joined in. From a bowl of microwave popcorn to three minute service at the dry cleaners we consistently seek ways to accomplish more and more in a smaller time frame.

Along came the Internet with each successive year providing faster connection speed, faster processing speed and multi-functioning abilities within our systems. Simply put, we just do not want to wait for anything anymore. So when Internet businesses began to spring up like dandelions each new entrepreneur looks for profits to be as quick as the oatmeal they had for breakfast. Was not too long before mother Google came along and supplied the tool necessary for immediate profits….Adsense for Search. Now all that is necessary is to slam a website together, launch it through your hosting account, slip a bit of code into your pages and WHAM!!!! Adsense will make you a rich owner overnight (or sooner if you are in a hurry!)

This expectation of instant wealth through Adsense is the downfall of many a marketeer. While there are ways to glean a few dollars from Google through Adsense it should not be treated as a quick rich effort but instead used as a long term tool in conjunction with the products or services that are offered through your website. And this means work. Of course you will find many ecourses and programs offered stating that obtaining income from Adsense will always be as easy as following off a log. These will all claim that “within minutes your site will be displaying Adwords and you can start making money”. Or in regards to making this money they usually state: “Each day you wait is a day you cannot make the money you should”
.

And it does not matter what “tripe” the rest of these offers are selling they are correct on this. The #1 important rule in marketing with Adsense is….Do It! Nothing can be accomplished until you get started and there is (usually) no better time then the present!

Is should be obvious that if you do not add the Adsense code to your webpage then you cannot make money from the advertising. And it should also be obvious that with the size and intricacies of todays Internet instant profits are not readily available (on a steadily producing basis) to newly introduced webpages. So what is the advantage of displaying ads on your site? Adsense ads
DO have the ability to send profits your way. But ONLY
the profits that you EARN</strong with the hard work involved in creating and maintaining a quality website!

We all know that the ads placed by Google are usually relevant to your web content. This relevancy is decided through the keywords you use. This placement mostly is the job of Google and they are very adept at performing this chore. This leave us with the job of creating a nesting place for these ads. And create we must. If we expect any income from Adsense then we continually must seek it. And seek it we should do with unique and excellent content.

Whatever the topic depicted in your pages it should always be specific. Visitors to your site are seeking information for a purpose, and if you feed them a bit of a run-around their stay at your site will be brief. And if they are not on your pages for a period of time it will not matter how relevant the Google placed ads are. Your content must hold their attention long enough for the ads to catch their eye and interest them enough for a click. And no click then no $$$. See how these two go together?

So…No. Google Adsense is NOT the fast food of Internet Marketing. While the placement of ads on a well thought out page can be almost instantaneous, and the $$$ credited to your account show up immediately after the click, Adsense is not the drive thru window of the internet. However if you knock yourself out to provide informative content to the visiting public then you will see an income from Adsense. So continue to create those fantastic websites that have a nice sidebar for the ads to appear on. But do not fool yourself…just launching the site does not allow you to sit back and watch T.V. reruns while your profits add up. You desire to be successful on the internet started with a lot of hard work and will continue in no other way.

This whole thing started with an idea in your head to build a fantastic website, place a block or two of Adsense ads on it and then kick back and let the money roll in, right? So you coded the perfect site in a niche that is extremely hot and searches abound for this product every second of the day.

You spent time, time and more time getting your SEO up to par and have been graded at over 98% optimized for your niche area of marketing. You have submitted your sitemap, placed the appropriate ad blocks on all of your pages and those ads just look bbbeeaaauuutttiiiffffuuullll!!! Do a search for your product and up you come in spot #4 on Google page #1. Now just what in the world could possibly make you happier? How about some earnings?? Probably might be smiling just a bit more if you were able to start feeding your checking account a little bit now and again. So what is the problem? You researched and tweaked your keywords until your finger tips are sore. You have enough back up unique content to last you for months and just keep the visitors clicking, right? So what have you forgotten?

Remember a post or two ago when we discussed that Google was happy when you were happy. Both parties are in this game for the same return…$$$$$$$. And if I recall it was the responsibility of mother Google to supply you with the tools of the trade and your responsibility to provide pertinent and informative content and ??…what was that? Oh yes…..TRAFFIC!!!
It is great that you are indexed and have a great SERP rating. However the amount of unique visitors that will stumble upon your site through a Google site is nowhere near that which you need to make a decent income.

This is the time for you to get to work. Create traffic, attract traffic, buy traffic, rent traffic, steal traffic or beg traffic to stop by for a visit and a click. Do it anyway you want but bottom line is that you need the traffic, so lets explore a method or two to obtain traffic with $$$$ in their clicking fingers.

What I think is the most satisfying source of traffic is that which you create. This is directly related to your fresh updated content. Your site probably consists of articles you pen regarding whatever niche you specialize in. Well these articles are your first great lure to attract visitors. Once in place you then should be directing the article to directories. Then when one is picked up and published over the web each and every reader probably will be clicking through your pages for more related information. You not only are able to update and refresh the website content but at the same time you are trolling Internet wide for new and unique visitors. That word unique seems to poke its pretty little face into just about every aspect of our lives, huh!

If you are marketing a product or service through your site then you indeed should maintain an email list of all visitors you can get to opt in. Then each time you add content you should automatically email the entire list with the new information. Keep it interesting and relevant to your product and these emails will also get passed from your subscribers to their friends and relatives as they in turn pass the information along. Your unique visitor count will increase exponetially with each post.

Along with the subscriber email you should adapt the habit of social bookmarking and networking with each post. Just a few minutes to go through the list and post on a few such as Furl, Digg and the like and you will see the return in a relatively short time. Now is also the time to give www.pingoat and related urls a bit of a nudge regarding your new words. And if you are really serious and anxious to get up and about you can use press releases. At times this gets more than a bit expensive so I would be careful (but then I am broke and not in that much of a hurry!) with your expenditures.

I have a list of over two hundred methods to attract visitors but to take each and disect it becomes tedious to me and boring to the reader. I will post a few in upcoming days to liven up ensuing posts but off I go to compose an sale page for a group of products I wish to get out there (in exchange for a few pennies of course).

It doesn’t seem to matter if you are in Kindergarten doing finger painting, high school going to the rallies with all the cheerleaders yelling or a business meeting with an ad exec. pumping away giving you the old Rah! Rah! Rah! and pumping you up to do your best. Google is not that overboard but they do make a great attempt to give you sufficient tools to perform with your Adsense Campaigns. Common watchword is that Google is VERY interested in your Adsense success. And why not….if you do not have a monetary return with the ads blocks that you place on your websites then (gee whiz!) Google also makes no money. And that is a situation that very few of us have a complete interest in!

While most of use automatically use the Adsense for Content version of the Adsense program it probably is a good time to ponder on one of the new kids on the block. A while back Google introduced the Adsense for Search program in which you imbed a search box somewhere in your webpage. Each time a visitor to your page uses this block for additional searches you get rewarded monetarily. You have the ability to use the Search box in conjunction with the content ads that are displayed in your pages. Gives you the advantage of additional functionality for the visitor directly from your site with which they can continue what they are looking for. And guess what, Google Adsense for Search is simple to imbed into your content. Wouldn’t you know it….they actually have an instruction page leading you through the implementation procedure. When you are done you get the script code, imbed and away you go. Somehow this seems a bit like Adsense for Content. Not only are you led through the creation but once you drive traffic to the site (yes—you still have to do a little bit of work too!) you have an opportunity to create additional income for yourself. So…Raah! Raah! Raah! (pep talk here) GO GET “EM! Yea I know a bit corny but this is Saturday afternoon and I am taking a bit of artistic liberties here.

Another nifty advertising that Google has set up to tickle our bank account balance is the recent Adsense for video. In conjunction with Utube you can now imbed a pre-sized video player unit somewhere on your webpages and schedule videos from Utube that visitors can access from your page.

Look somewhat like this:

Watch the latest videos on YouTube.com

Sort of neat when you get to see those Adsense units on top of the player that are just itching to be clicked for the visitor squandering their free time watching your video units. Google also has a “click-to-pay video ad” which can individually displayed on your published page. Same deal though, you have imbeded video into your pages bringing your website into the new generation of online advertising and marketing.

This shows a big challenge (or drawback depending upon your mood for the day) in Internet Marketing with which you must adapt and move on or get lost. Images, audio, video—what is next? Probably 3-D or interactive ads with four secret levels of clicking to get the desired results. Maybe “joy-sticks” are in our immediate future when we attempt to attract clickers to our pages–to view our ads we have placed—to get Adsense profit from our site>>>>>with which I am sure we all go out and buy more PLR or other digital product with which we can earn our continuing millions!!!!!

You always seem to hear about the “spiders” that search engines send crawling the web and unless you are one of the “techies” you probably really do not understand what these little creatures are. These web spiders are also known as “web crawlers, web robots or web scutter are simply programs or automated scripts that browse the web in a methodical automated manner. These things have also been called ants, automated indexers, bots and worms..

This automated search process is called web crawling or spidering and many sites use them to scrape up dated information from their search. These crawls now are mainly used to create copies of all visited pages in order to later index them creating faster search results. However a spider is also capable of being programmed for automatic maintenance on a particular site such as verifying HTML code or checking the links provided. And for the real creepy life of a spider it can be programmed to crawl the Internet harvesting email addresses to be used in a nefarious manner. This manner is usually SPAM and is where the black hat boys and the white hat boys of internet marketing seem to split pathways.

The crawl generally starts with a list of URLs to visit which are called seeds. As these URLs are visited the relevant hyperlinks are identified on the visited pages and the spider adds them to the list of URLs for visits. Then these are later visited again seeking certain search parameters which will aid in the indexing of the visited page.

Now confused just yet? Then lets visit a bit on these parameters. These are set for certain preferences of the program and if we think of the spider searching for “food” then whatever content we place in our websites better be as tasty to these little crawlers as we can make it. It would just seem natural that is we give the crawler what it wants then there will be return visits and the ensuing indexing should be balanced in our favor. Huh??

Probably better for all if we leave the email harvesters to their dark deeds and take our lessons to what will benefit us monetarily…..SEARCH ENGINES!! Away we go!

SPIDERS LIKE:

–keep your code neat on your sites. The fewer lines of code you have in relation to the amount of
text the better off you are.
–Since this is always about keywords you need to pay attention here___AGAIN!. Keep your keyword
density within a normal range of 3%-7%. A lower percentage will cause your content to not be
recognized and a high percentage is just stupid!
–any of your site pages that link back to your home page should just be crawling (Pun
intended) with backlinks. Many of the guides you read state that top quality sites have averages
of over 300 backlinks.
–Unique and Original will always be the descriptive words
regarding your content. If you duplicate what is all over the web why bother? Just be a bit
inventive and put yourself into your work. Brand it as your own and build your own reputation!
–SITE MAPS>>>this is the big one that everybody is pushing now. Create a site map of your site
so that the crawlers will have a road map to what they are looking for!

Now for a bit of what the spiders do not like:

–Not to be repetitive but spiders DO NOT LIKE to come upon pages with more code than text. Keep
it simple and write real words not just a bunch of code!
–nested tables. It appears that when you do this you present more “markup” code than actual
informative content. When you attempt to present content through tables it comes with the
price tag of rather large HTML files. While not a big problem with broadband these present quite
a bit of difficulty with dial up connection and now that many are accessing the web through their
cellphones and other hand held devices a large file is just not attractive. And if it is not attractive
and useful to the visitor then the search engine spider wants very little to do with it.
–do not be a keyword stuffer. Keep your keyword load to the average 3-7% and you will be quite
a bit more attractive with each crawl.
–use very few doorway pages as these relate to high density keyword content.

Well, just a bit of spiders, crawling and webs so not it is bed time. Time to learn what the power of suggestion will be to my dreams with these images in my mind.

I do not think it matters how much you use your Adsense account or how many times you run a website with Adsense placements we all can sometimes use a bit of a refresher course. And since I have taken a few days off and have forgotten more than I EVER knew the best place to start is with SEO. For those of us just into the game SEO is Search Engine Optimization and is the methods you use to get Google’s (and other search engines) recognition of you to a higher level of respect. After all would it not be better to be on page #1 with just a little bit of effort? And of course most of this is stuff you don’t have to put out $97.00 for the “new” answer to instant wealth.

Easy to define…Search Engine Optimization is nothing more than designing your web content so that your site ranks as high as possible in search engine results. Higher results will usually equate to a higher number of visitors to your web page. Fact is, when people start a search they are usually in a hurry and want their information RIGHT NOW!!! When was the last time you viewed numerous search result pages looking for exactly what you want? Yep, me too. If I get to the third page it is because I am bored or lazy and just want to waste a bit of time. With this point of view (lazy people or people in a hurry) it is quite easy to see why Optimizing your site for the greatest return in vistors is critical to the life of a website.

So how does the search engine know about your fabulous content? Sneaky little devils that they are they send “spiders” out fetching documents. (I imagine this is like the duck dog jumping into the unknown depths of water to fetch a duck for the shooter). Of course this guy is searching for something that is not already in the system—-hence the usual hint that we always need to update our content to keep ahead of the game. When the spider returns to the “web” from which it was launched these documents are fed into an “indexer” program which disects the contents and indexes them appropriately based on content of each document.

Each search engine uses its own spiders and indexers and there fore must have its own specific results that will rank you high (or not). In comes the almighty “algorithm”. The word itself can put a cold sweat on the brow of the most experienced marketer. While an algorithm is simply a step by step program for the computer to accomplish whatever goal is desired. The fear of an algorithm is that search engines (read “Google” here) all have their proprietary algorithms and they are usually an in house secret. Therefore we all guess that amongst other items they are looking for quantity of content and quality of content. The quantity of content is easy to solve..most agree that a page with at least 100 words is easily indexed so we should aim our content to a minimum of 100 words on any/each page.

Now we get to the quality of the content. Read any article writing guide or purchase any marketing program from one of the “gurus” and you soon find that quality is equated to “keywords” in your content. Of course, how silly of me, if must be keywords because if you write an article on “horses” you surely are not seeking visitors with a main interest in “birds”. Enough sarcasm, keywords are the tools you insert into your website content in order to catch the attention of both the (1) spider and (2) visitor and proper use of them is essential to growth and sustainability of your Internet product.

Keyword density is the watch word here. This indicates the percentage of your content that is comprised of the keywords important to the subject. Quick calculation would be a 500 word article containing your keyword 25 times would have a density of 5% and falls within the range considered normal (about 3%–7% for main keywords).

The common school of thought is that your keyword density should be higher than other pages. This density makes it more attractive to “spiders” and some of the smaller engines normally index no more than the main page. Problem here is that if you get carried away with your writing and think the more keywords you throw in the better your rankings will cost you. Your visitors come to you looking for information regarding the keywords they do not pick your website so they can see their search word repeated 500 times on each page they visit. Do this and you will have that visitor exactly ONE time and then off they will go for real information.

Well, off to a Thanksgiving meal….might be family time but three dozen people in a 2000 sq ft house is not exactly attractive to me today. However it is for my wife_____and she IS exactly attractive to me so off I go!!

While Google seems to hold most of the strings on your marionette of a website the arrangement would never be able to sustain profitability longevity without benefits to both parties. Of course your strings require you to maintain a site acceptable to Googles TSO. This means you need to stay out of the gray (or black) area of marketing in products or services that border on illegal or immoral. And why wouldn’t you? We can leave the pornographic sites out of the discussion for now, but if you truly wish to earn a decent Adsense income would you not easily abide by the rules to produce this income? While it has somewhat of a romantic ring to it I cannot imagine that hiring and managing a group of offshore “clickers” for your ads could any form be simpler than producing and marketing a site with pertinent information of interest to multitudes of visitors. But then I have never discovered an “easy” way out of a chore that did not conclude with maximum effort for minimum profits.

Googles strings? A very good one they yank on to greatly aid your business is the use of filters. With these filters you are able to tweak the ads you display to be of interest to your specialized visitor and your pocketbook. Back to simplicity…you create a website of interest to a specific market for your product or service and then Google searches high and low for ads to complement your site, allowing you to glean a reasonable two stream income.

Lets start with filtering by Relevance to Content. This could probably be the Ad filtering criterion that is most important of all in the Adsense program. The Adsense program searches the database of available ads and chooses those that relate to your product. This relevance is global for product use, as well as to language, to attract those with an interest in your services. While this sounds simple it is oft times lost through other advertising venues who just wish to place maximum ads over the Internet rather than narrowing them down to a particular market interest. I am sure you would rather have five or six ads that fall into the same interest group as the majority of your visitors rather than dozens spread over your pages with interests as varied as their numbers.

Then we can go on to look at the Appropriateness of Content. This filter involves the placement of possible sensitive material in areas they would not belong in. While Adult themes on the internet participate in the Google Adsense program the ads shown on these sites should DEFINITELY not be the same as those shown on a site relating to religious products or services. This filter not only would apply to Adult themes but allows you to control the kinds of ads shown on your site in relation to gaming interests, sexual orientation or other areas you do not wish to expose your desired visitors to.

How about a filter that includes Competition? Google Adsense displays ads based on the content of the website and this could occasionally allow a competitor ad to be shown on your web page. While it is very nice to help others with their Internet success advertising their product on your site possibly is not the best method to do this! Recognizing this Google allows you to filter out any competitors or advertisers who would be in direct competition to you.

So some of the strings that Google has on this marionette through filters are (1) Relevance, (2) Appropriateness, and (3) Competition. If you need for them to yank another one for you how about the ability to devise your own filter. During those few periods that Google may not have just the right ads for display on your site you can choose the Default ads you wish to display. While this may be a PSA (public service announcement) or one of your own design relating to your product you HAVE the choice and this is important. While a rare occurrence this allows your site to remain “balanced” without a large 468 x 60 block of nothing showing in the space you had designed for ads.
Probably looks a lot better to your visitors!

As we have looked at Google Adsense to be a “shared” revenue and responsibility program it seems a bit difficult to understand why a website owner would attempt to cheat just to gain a few extra clicks. I realize I am a bit naive and recognize there are millions of those out there who seek the easy dollar and easily move on to another program when they are caught. My self worth is of more value to me than the possible profits realized in such a manner!

So a bit more about Adsense and profitability. I stuck my foot in my mouth and stated I want to have around 100 qualified and decent Adsense websites by the end of November. Someone should have whacked me upside the head with a 2 x 4 board and informed me that the end of November is but a paltry dozen (12!) days away. So my “inner self” awoke me around three (3) a.m and let me know in certain terms that I was in deep doo-doo on this goal. How to get around it? Take the ones I have, list them and then rework each one in turn to maximize their potential. After all (duh!) would it not be better to have a couple of dozen sites that are producing than a hundred floating around cyber-space with minimal hope of scraping any profit at all out of Google’s garbage can! So, how does one go about doing this? Simple…concentrate on content/keywords/and traffic. These three are so tightly inter woven that if you lose a bit of one the cost is spread overall.

Why not start with the almighty “King Content”. If you are able to incorporate top quality, relevant and useful information into your pages then you will very likely benefit from the search engine. Those “spiders” crawling throughout the web absolutely love sites that are optimized with good content. And when you become adept at publishing unique and informative content that is updated frequently enough to attract interest by search engines you are virtually assured that your site will also attract ads that will just scream “click me” to your visitors each time they are viewed.

Of course that content needs to be relevant to what internet surfers are looking for. Try to run a website concerning various dog breeds and fill it with articles on human arthritis and it is doubtful you will be carrying sacks full of $$$ to the bank each day. This is where KEYWORDS enter the scheme. Keywords are the life-blood of your website content and the area in which many web developers fail miserably.

Keywords are what will lead your visitor to your site. And keywords may also chase that same visitor away with just a short visit and no purchase. Those who visit websites are fully aware of the reason they are looking. If they are flung onto page after page of meaningless “fluff” that holds no valuable information for them they will not stay. Provide descriptive and compelling information that produces an inquisitive state of mind they will stay longer and your sale rates will climb accordingly. There is a reason those who teach search engine optimization point out the percentage of your content that should be represented by keywords. Lots and lots of keywords inserted in order to lure visitors may do just that…lure them for a quick look and then they will abandon you. Actually that is wrong, they will leave because you have abandoned them in their search for whatever brought them there.

Off we go to that magical word…TRAFFIC. Why? you may ask is traffic so important. Well unless you have a lucrative yet unknown method of internet profit without visitors coming to your website then traffic is of utmost importance to you. Theoretically speaking…double your web traffic and you will double your income. Now that we have typed that it is time for the caveat.High volume traffic is only beneficial when that traffic is targeted to your niche and specifically to your site. So while a high traffic volume is definitely desired we need to insert one more word…high QUALITY volume traffic. Your method of traffic generation should easily determine the quality of such. If your source of traffic is PPC and you place no values when you purchase these clicks you might as well throw you money away (or better yet send most of it to me!)prior to embarking on this financial fiasco. So unless you are filthy rich learn and implement methods of acquiring traffic that will be of financial interest to you.

Content, keywords and traffic will always be the mighty words of marketing. Another one to throw into the bubbling cauldron of marketing soup just has to be WORK! Especially with Adsense campaigns you need to work to secure an income. Back to reality… Google not only does not need you but Google does not owe you anything in your hunt for success. It is up to you to provide a platform of earnings which you and Google will share. You are the one responsible for creation of content, proper usage of keywords and developing methods. Google’s share of that pie is to provide you with pertinent ads that will enrich both of you. That is why Google develops so many training aids that enable you to increase your earnings. You make nothing and Google makes exactly the same amount. And of course the advertisers make nothing, the only saving grace for them is the lack of funds expended.

Now my responsibility is to post this bit of prose and get to work on my own sites. Christmas is well on the way and when the bank account is empty Santa Claus has no means to fullfill all those Christmas wishes!!!!!
