Second wedding of the weekend brought me to Kumler Chapel in Oxford OH for another, say it with me “Miami Merger Wedding”. I was told that Miami University is known for generating the most wedding couples (Miami Mergers) of any college in the country. Must be something in the water. Great weather allowed us to venture onto the MU campus for some glorious sky shots.

My first weekend wedding took me to the Manor House in Mason for Geoffrey and Brady’s Wedding.

I photographed Christopher’s and Caroline’s most elegant wedding in Cincinnati. The ceremony was held at the incomparable Covenant-First Presbyterian Church in Downtown Cincinnati. Equally stunning was the reception venue at the Phoenix. We also had a chance to explore the great ambient lights of Cincinnati at night.

Here is a sneak peek from my e-Motion Engagement Session from a couple of hours ago. Believe it or not, but for the first image I did not add any special focusing effects or make any other post processing adjustments, except for the border and watermark. It was straight from the camera and I love how the eye focuses directly on the sharpest area of the image, principally the subject faces. The second image was actually taken with my Infrared Camera and adjusted in Photoshop. We’ll be photographing their wedding on Sunday in Dayton.

Last Saturday I did something that I’ve never done before…that is to photograph a bride and a groom at the end of a rainbow. And as it turns out the rainbow ends at the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal. Who knew? Scroll down to see the rainbow image and other great images. Also, on Saturday we had about 5 hours between the end of the ceremony and the start of the reception. We used this time to check out great Cincinnati locations including Spring Grove Cemetery and the Purple People Bridge. Special thanks to Andrea Howard of the Cincinnati Museum Center for accommodating all my special requests and my second photographer Niki Jahns for her assistance and photography.

As it turns out, Nicole’s Getting ready hotel window faced the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal. You can see it in the distance on right.

First stop after the Formals at the Church was the Spring Grove Cemetery. Surprising enough, there were no other bridal parties there with us. Ordinarily, Spring Grove is three deep with bridal parties on wedding Saturdays.

The cross below is to satisfy the “something old” from the wedding saying , “Something old, something new, Something borrowed, something blue and a silver sixpence in her shoe.”

I always ask the couple as to how “artistic” they want their images to be. Luckily for me, Nicole and Adam, we up to “everything” that I suggested. Love the end results.

We brought the live photobooth with us to the reception. Luckily the Cincinnati Museum Center is a big enough venue that the photobooth is not very visible. You can actually see it in the dancing image above.

We love working with great vendors and on Saturday I once again worked with Jeff Hill of Jeff Hill Videography. Jeff followed my photography setups and suggested a few of his own. That’s what I call seamless partnership.

When I told Adam that the garter has to be removed without the use of hands, he took me up on the challenge. The interesting thing about this image when I first looked at it is how it appears that Adam’s head is gone, very similar to their headless wedding cake figurines below. Coincidence? You be the judge.

This was the shot that the great Jeff Hill suggested and I synced a couple of flashes together to get this great image.

Sunday was a home opener for my sons’ football teams. Brady’s Bantam team (7 & under) lost while Slade’s 3rd grade team won resoundingly. Here are some choice pics from Sunday.

Brady was paying attention, at least to my 400 mm lens during the warmups; during the game…not so much.

Slade on the other hand was on his game with his second interception in as many games and some key defensive plays.

Second engagement of the weekend took me to Ault Park in Cincinnati for Chris and Ashley’s Engagement. We’ll be photographing their wedding in Covington KY in June 2011.

Finally, my sons have started playing football and I spent a majority of my day on Saturday on the football field capturing some great images. I am excited at recording their football exploits as they wait for the recruiter’s calls from OSU.

Yesterday, after my morning engagement session, I drove to Galloway OH for a wedding of a familiar family. I photographed the groom’s sister Cassie’s wedding at the same location earlier in the year on June 25th. Check out THIS POST for more.

This morning, before my afternoon wedding, I photographed the engagement of Johnny and Nicole at Cox Arboretum in Dayton. You may notice a certain “pop” to the images and that is because I used flash through out the majority of the images. I just don’t like how the eyes are dull and unattractive unless a catchlight is present. We’ll be photographing their wedding on October 9th in Springboro.
