Alright, maybe this is a little self serving, but it is my blog and I am allowed to toot my own horn. I keep saying this over and over again, “We love our brides”. As it happens they love us right back.

“Maxim Photo Studio was amazing. The owner, Max, came just because I felt I needed him to. So, he came for the first hour, and did wonderful shots. Along with Max, were my two photographers. They were personal, helpful and made everything exactly to my liking. If there was anything we wanted, they did it. It was all about US! That was wonderful. And, my album, IT’S BEAUTIFUL. I love it! People around here in Southern Ohio have never seen anything like it. I’ve seen albums like this all over San Francisco and LA, so it was perfect for me. Also, having all the rights to my photos is very convenient. If I could refer Maxim Photo Studio, I would suggest his work to anyone who wants to be catered to and cared for like family.”

Very Baby Sunday

I photographed 2 newborns this afternoon. As with most babies, it was a shoot and wait, wait, wait, shoot and wait some more. We captured some great images and here are two of Miss Ellee and Miss Bailey.
Here Ellee was showing me just exactly how much patience she has with a strange man asking her not to move.

Brand New Website is Up…at last

It’s been about 4 years, since I last redesigned my website. It was based on a popular Bludomain Flash based template, but frankly it became outdated. It seems as though every photographer of any notoriety has or had a Bludomain website somewhere. It is probably a rite of passage that you must go through and my passage ended this morning. My new site is a David Jay Showit design based on Adobe AIR platform and offers tremendous customizations and integration with various social media, like Facebook and Twitter. It is still a work in process, currently showcasing my wedding clients. I’ll be updating it soon with our awesome Seniors and Lifestyle Portraits. Check out the interactivity right within the Weblog. Very Cool and worth every penny.

2010 Bride’s Choice Awards

Baby Ellee

Baby Ellee just turned 13 hours old when I photographed her today. Ellee is the daughter of Emily and Brian, whose maternity pics I photographed back in December. Mom, Dad and Baby are doing great. More portraits as Elle grows.

New Year’s Hockey – Shot of the Day

As a new year’s treat, we travelled with Slade’s Mite Hockey Team to Iowa for the annual “Shootout in the Loo” Hockey tournament. Slade’s Queen City Steam team blanked out both opponents earlier in the day 6-0 and 5-0. To top things off, Slade scored a goal. Here is an image from the goal sequence. In about 15 minutes, we will be going to Young Arena to see the Waterloo Bluehawks hockey action.

Emily’s Maternity Portraits

Emily approached me about doing some maternity pics of next month’s expected delivery of baby Ellee. I was a little nervous about scheduling a maternity shoot this close to the delivery date, because both of my boys were born four and three weeks early, but everything went great. Here are some of the images including some of the various finishing touches that Emily requested. I’ll be posting more portraits of then baby Ellee next month.

Christmas Card Time

Well, it is that year again. Time to receive and send out Christmas Cards. This year I thought that I would do something different. After searching through various online card templates, and “wasting” about 2 days, I finally decided to create my own template. All of the templates were designed to mass consumer demand and I wanted to be as different with my card design as I am when photographing weddings. Since I’ve been creating unique Wedding Albums, Prints, and Senior Collages, creating a Unique Christmas Card should be well within my artistic capability. I had fun creating this template with a mix of vector objects, grunge effects, PS actions and layer styles and I think I’ll turn this into an annual affair.

This year’s card features my 6 year old Brady (left) and almost 8 year old Slade (right). We ventured out to Cox Arboretum and I saw this great setting sun. I used my 22″ Beauty Dish to balance the ambient light and light up my boys. This was one of the better images from our shoot as controlling rambunctious children during photo session long enough for them not to want to make faces or hit each other is never an easy proposition for parents. Also, as with many of my Wedding Albums, I am going to be printing this Metallic paper for an extra dose of punch. For those of you who know us, expect the cards early next week.

Columbus Hello!!!

We traveled to one of our son’s hockey tournament at the Nationwide Arena yesterday and in between games we drove down to Wendy’s Undergrad Alma Mater, OSU. Of course we had to drive down to the stadium since Slade had only seen it on TV. I wanted to replicate one of my wedding shots from earlier this year…

but we only had three pair of hands. So we “settled” for this, minus several annoying “Background Killer” visitors, whom I cloned out of the image.
