Alex Metric kicks off his summer festival season this month with gigs at Isle Of Wight Festival, Glastonbury and Rockness. He’ll then hit the States for his third US DJ tour of 2013, playing alongside ‘Safe With You’ co-producer Jacques Lu Cont (aka Stuart Price) at Electric Daisy Carnival in Vegas on June 21st, amongst club gigs in San Francisco and Vancouver. His famed residency at London’s XOYO on 14th June was another roadblock, with guest appearances from Alan Braxe and Du Tonic. Alex has also been busy in the studio remixing Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals and most recently the forthcoming third single from Empire Of The Sun’s new album.

Jacques Lu Cont’s recent Tracques Vol 1 album (released under his Tracques moniker) received the kind of acclaim you’d expect for one of electronic music’s most celebrated and consistent talents. No matter the pseudonym, Price sets the musical agenda for each genre he touches. With cuts like ‘Motor’, released on Boys Noize Records earlier in the year, and ‘Safe With You’, 2013 looks set to be a vintage year for the LA-residing super producer.

Malin is the lead singer of Swedish indietronica outfit, Niki & The Dove, who first broke in the UK via their inclusion in the BBC’s Sound Of 2012 poll (No.5). Since the release of their debut album, ‘Instinct’, Niki & The Dove have won the 2013 European Border Breakers Award.

In 2010, as part of the celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Paul van Dyk staged the We Are One event. It featured artists as musically and stylistically diverse as Armin van Buuren and Underworld, through to avant-garde performers like the Las Vegas-celebrated Blueman Group. With it, Van Dyk brought his ever-loyal fanbase another inventive, hyper-imaginative, unforgettable experience – one that has since moved into the annals of dance music legend.

Three years on, Paul has set in motion a return for We Are One. Moving from arena to festival grade, 2013 will see the event take place in the striking, history-rich setting of Berlin’s Zitadelle Spandau. Inside its ancient bastion walls, Paul will play his first Berlin-stationed, outdoor, open-air event since Loveparade.

Back on the 31st of December 2012, Paul gave his strongest hint yet that the coming year would herald a return for the illustrious ‘Politics of Dancing’ series. Electronic music forums around the world lit up at the news and speculation as to exactly what it would entail has been rife ever since. July’s We Are One festival will be the very first time and place anyone in the world hears the music PvD & Co. have been crafting for its third chapter. Playing alongside Paul throughout the day and night, will be a host of the world’s most gifted electronic sound designers.

Some 9 months after their launch, Nick Bracegirdle’s ensemble outfit, Chicane Live, have been holding arena audiences all over the world in their thrall. On July 6th they will be taking to the We Are One stage with a captivating live performance that will include the debut of Paul & Chicane’s first studio recording together.

The night’s line-up will also include Saharan-hot sounds of Aly & Fila, who will bring their Egyptrance sound to the Zitadelle. Also taking to the stage will be hot new VANDIT signings, SHato & Paul Rockseek, Holland’s First State, and German duo Stoneface & Terminal. The We Are One 2013 anthem will come courtesy of PvD and Canadian tough-trance powerhouse Arnej, who’ll also be playing the show, alongside many more, yet-to-be-announced artists and acts.

Early bird tickets for We Are One have just gone on sale. The doors will open on July 6th at 3pm, with the event start an hour later. Melodic and groovy – that’s the distinguished sound of the two Thuringians from Germany as in 2008 they decided to have a share in the electronic music scene. Their sound features warmth, pressure and especially harmony, on what they emphasize in particular. Their attention to detail is obvious. Recently, they were titled “ministers of melody”. The review about their latest album released in December entitled “Bridge a divide” is a splendid performances of Boss Axis like fireworks of euphoric moments.

Their first tracks together, which attributed to their respective experience as solo artists, already had the potential to knock on the doors of relevant labels of the scene. After several digital offers, they received the opportunity for a vinyl-launch at their current home base on Solee’s “Parquet Recordings”. The foundation was built and many releases were to follow, including their biggest hits so far, “Orlando” and “Keep Going”.

Equally, their performances as a DJ-team are truly splendid moments of happiness, so it is no wonder that the congenial boys have been performing in almost every happening club as well as at one of the biggest and most popular open-air festivals in Europe – “Tomorrowland”, which was the highlight in 2012”! After releasing countless singles and remixes for worldwide well-known artists like Gui Boratto or Tom Novy and many others, it is time for their second album,filled with lots of new tracks, perfect for the club but also for one’s ownliving room.

Boss Axis – “Bridge A Divide” (The Remixes)

“Nevada” perfectly introduced the album, in the pure tradition of Boss Axis, with long layers and subtle pianos notes that will make you beat the rhythm. With a moody yet warm reinterpretation of Solee, the full of depth will make yousmile. “Even temper” is more monotone in a positive way with deep vibes creating a great underground atmosphere. Russia’s most prolific EDM duo – Moonbeam, put their unique dreamscape into a visionary journey again. Then, “And nothing” represents a more funky side with the vocal. One of the most productive Dutch acts Arjuna Schiks breathes the track with a distinctive melodic and energetic edge. “Two hearts” evolves notably with its progression and its composition with long synths notes. Parisian producer Joachim Pastor primes it more deep and with a great piano. Originally with its ambient waves and bouncy long distance vocal, Germany’s “king of bootlegs” Nico Pusch combines “Deepening” with great emotions and a gentle minimalistic drive.

Alle Farben uses nice trumpets for “Challenger”, what makes the progression of the track a nice hearing orgasm. TOUREAU’s “Meeting Alice Version” of “Wondaland” sets confused sounds with individual influences of techno and EBM. While remaining melodic, the melancholic Patrick Muschiol remix of “Memories” is one for the deep moments, but also has light and infectious feel at the same time. The percussive touch of Arquette’s version lights on “Flower”. Concluding the package, “Since you’ve been gone feat. Silke K.” is full of life dreaming it with an atmospheric flow by Peer Kusiv and punching through the depth, adding sprinkles of melody over the encapsulating vocal. Next up is “Find’n'Hide feat. Steklo” and remix duties going to Mirco Niemeier who adds a mysterious yet melodic touch to proceedings. At the end, “Down home” is the time to come back to a safer and warmer place: your home, with a very slow ending of the journey with Olivier Weiter.

Feel free to lean back and enjoy the pleasure of this dreamy mixture of lovely soundscapes with individual interpretations as a fusion of international EDM talents.

The four-track “Lady Killa” EP bounces from aggressive dubstep bombast to sexy, sweaty, hip-hop-influenced electro. You can feel that razor’s edge on “Armed and Dangerous,” a potent salvo featuring MC Zulu. The track is also paired with a remix from none other than FIREPOWER label head Datsik for a whirlwind remake. “Feel the Light,” the first single from the new album, is currently receiving airplay on both US and UK radio, and will be featured in the final credits of a major studio film in 2014.
