This song hit a new chord today.

And tonight I was reminded of what a gem old Gio is, which was especially cool since the dude complimenting it was obviously the real deal kind of cyclist and had awesome wheels of his own (far lighter, newer, and more expensive than mine). I'm not gonna lie. . .I felt kinda cool :)

In other news, my website is back up and running. It is (and always will be) a work in progress so I'm finally going to just give in and enjoy that aspect of it. I was going to go in an entirely different direction with it but realized I was forcing something that wasn't really me. So alas, it isn't a huge change, but slightly refined. Sometime soon I will direct ya'll back to my blog there. I know, I know. Last time. I promise.

Also, guess who is coming to the SLC?

I know I keep talking about him, but I forgot to tell you about The Tallest Man On Earth show last week. So I'm going to.

It was epic.
Kristian Matsson is just one of those artists. Just is.
Best encore I've ever experienced. I can't and won't try to describe it, but here is a clip, and Julia remembered a line from The Perks of Being a Wallflower that says it all: "and in that moment, I swear we were infinite."

Luckily for you, I just stumbled upon this blog post (by Heather Browne) that describes what I can't about his music. Perfectly. Read it, especially if you've ever experienced music taking your breath and words away. There are song links (like, um, a cover of Graceland) at the bottom that are too good to miss and put my measly little video captures to shame.

I'm certainly not complaining, but I have inspiration and ideas and to-do and to-read lists overflowing to a point where I'm not sure how or where to start. Ahhh!

There are two new resources in particular that I wanna share.

1) I went to Barnes and Noble to buy Fiber Arts and saw this little gem, bought it and every page was a treat. The texture of the paper they print on, the fonts, the articles, photography, all of it was fabulous. Mmmm. Such a fan. The best part? Almost all of the ads are for humanitarian and eco-friendly companies and organizations.

2) Craft podcasts. Hello, where have I been? CraftSanity and CraftyPod are the first I've delved into. So far so good.

In other news, thrifting was especially good yesterday. . .

Tomorrow, we're going to talk about how amazing old record players are. Especially my grandma's and especially when listening to this album :)

As I suspected, removing all of the artistic rules I subject myself to has created some freedom around my productivity. My website is almost done (yes, again) and the vintage shop is growing slowly but surely. I decided that rather than trying to photograph, edit and post everything right away, I'll be posting 3 items a day.

It's 12:57 AM -- another failed attempt at going to bed "early" (aka: before midnight). But when a girl needs to write, a girl needs to write.

Today I jumped on TRAX (after missing it three separate times. . .don't even ask) to head to Draper and see my sweet niece and nephew. It was fun but I don't have any pictures to prove it.

Aside from reading 70s nursery rhymes, eating goldfish crackers and playing peek-a-book, I had one of those super clumsy, disorganized, disheveled, ungrounded days. I was practically tripping over my own feet, my hair felt weird on my head and I just couldn't quite get comfortable in my skin. You know, one of those days. I'm extra excited to wake up tomorrow morning just to prove to myself I can be a bit more graceful.

Anyway, I have been feeling REALLY restless the last week or two. Worse than ever maybe. I like to think it's some version of my higher self begging for a change, but it could just be spring fever. Spring fever that starts every year around mid March, mellows by mid June, and is gone by August. Blame it on the weather, doshas, the moon, my personality, etc. The thing is, what would I change? This question keeps ringing in my ears and my mind too frequently bounces to that one line in my favorite play when Clov says to himself, "But I feel too old, and too far, to form new habits. Good, it'll never end, I'll never go."

Right now I want to go live in Italy or NYC, I want to write, and I want to see the world with new eyes. There is of course, a second question I keep asking myself: what am I waiting for?

Howdy. My mind is all over the map today so I will share some random good things.

1) I may or may not have thrifted again today. This is on top of scouring Etsy for somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30 hours this week. I think I have a problem. . .a problem that has stumbled upon these treasures:

No, I didn't buy any of it. The day that Jadite salt and pepper shakers fit into my budget, you blog world, will be the first to hear about it.

2) Today I met the cutest woman at the D.I. in Centerville when she noticed that I scored all of the good vintage books. We chatted for nearly an hour about our obsessions, traded contact info, and I think we both felt a little less alone in the world after parting ways. It was magical.

3) Old. Books. Are. Amazing. The way they smell. . .the illustrations. . .the

covers. Wait, what? I've already gushed about this on here? Okay, fine.

4) This website is effing genius.

5) Lately I've become incredibly drawn to and inspired by various textiles. I don't know why I'm so surprised by this, given my fascination with textures in general, but yeah, I feel like there is something there to consider. In the meantime, I might bite the bullet and take some costume design classes in the fall and finally conquer my fear of sewing machines.

Okay I will admit it.

Someday I'd like to have a big cozy porch with a big cozy antique couch, an obscene number of tulips, a tire swing hanging from a ridiculously large tree, a collection of pyrex and a desire to cook, kids running around with big wheels and little red wagons, who know they're value and know they're loved. And I want to teach them how to paint and to take photos and make forts and stare at the stars and respect the earth and their fellow beings and trust themselves and ask questions and appreciate music and dance whenever they feel like it. And I want that darkroom, and a Hasselblad, and an entire wall of paint-by-numbers, and an obscene number of books stacked to the ceiling in a room that manages to have both morning and evening light pouring through large windows. I want to still be going on bike rides and listening to old records, and The Beatles, and Tom Waits. And I want to still own some fabulously old, reliable, Honda hatchback and still enjoy my alone time and thrift with my friends, and have dinners and outings and road trips. And I want chalkboards in every room of a house, with lots of light and color and whose purpose is to be lived in - really lived in. And I want to wear dresses and aprons and bake cookies and have a kick ass garden, and a dog, or maybe two.

And I want the Stud. I really do.

There is SO much to catch up on! I think I might post updates backwards, from what's happening now, to all the fun over the last few weeks. Hmmm. . .

First of all, it is finally Spring! I have the annual proof:

I spent this last weekend in Idaho Falls with my mom and sister. There are more fun photos to come, but my sister and I thrifted and landed on some real gems. Here are a few I'm getting ready to add to my vintage Etsy shop, once the shop is up and running, that is :)

I also scored some amazing books. . .old maps, ads, illustrations, etc. I can't get enough! Seriously, my Etsy favorites are out of control.

Ah! It is love.

I don't know what it is about lately, but I've sure had a rough go of things. I keep
hoping and intending for each day to be better than the last but everything feels
like a struggle. Could be the change of seasons, could be the string of less than
perfect luck I've been experiencing, could be the ridiculous amount of creativity
I'm required to produce on a daily basis. . .all I know is that self doubt and heart
ache keep managing to sneak in every time I forget to look on the bright side.
I'm also confronting the idea that the reality I've been living in is only a simple
illusion. It's a lot to process, I'm thinking it's easier to just be with all of it and let
it run its course. In the meantime, I'm going to keep posting the small things that
inspire me from day to day. They are there, real, and they highlight each day.
