Correspondence Education in MBA is one of the variations of education through correspondence or by mail. Often it is referred to as Distance education or distance learning. It is an arena where education is delivered through medium of correspondence rather than through class room lectures. In other words it is a process of providing education to those individuals who are at distant place at a given point of time. Sometime correspondence courses require actual physical presence of an individual which are called as hybrid or blended courses of study.

One of the career avenues available for aspiring individuals who wants to climb on corporate ladder is Correspondence MBA.

Eligibility For Correspondence MBA Courses:

Following are the general criteria one has to meet in order to take admission for distance MBA course:

Graduation with minimum 50% marks from recognized university.
For SC & ST this cut-off is relaxed till 45% of marks
No Age Limit
Must be qualified with various Entrance Tests like CAT, MAT, XAT, TANCET, ICET, IBSAT, SNAP, OPEN MAT etc. Here also 50% marks are held as cut-off for applying for the course.

Fee structure of Colleges on a general note :

Fees do matters while applying for any course to an eligible student who belongs to low or average income categories. Usually distance MBA institutes facilitating Correspondence MBA has charging low fees than any full-time or executive MBA courses. The fee structure ranges from Rs.10, 000/- to Rs.5, 00,000/- depending upon the rankings of the institutes & colleges. Let’s have a look over fee structure & other regulations of some well-known colleges:

Symbiosis Centre of Distance Learning: Provides courses like PG Diploma in International Business, Information Technology, and Banking & Finance. The entire course fee is Rs.25, 000/- for each specialization is similar. Forms are available in May or June every year at a cost of Rs.1, 100/-. Students have to fill the form through Online or Offline modes with payment of requisite fees. Fees are payable by Demand Drafts or Cash.
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU): It offers course in PG Diploma in General Management & Marketing Management. It charges fees of Rs.3, 000/- per course. One can get the whole fee structure on the website www.ignou.ac.in
Management Development Institute: It offers part time MBA program which can be done through distance education. For the first year fees are Rs.2, 08,000/-, second year 2, 01,500/- while for third year is 2, 12,500/-. The breakup of fee structure is available on institutes website www.mdi.ac.in

Andhra University, is among the oldest and has an accreditation by NAAC and was awarded an ‘A’ grade. The university was established keeping in mind an international perspective towards academic excellence. SDE or School of Distance Education, one of the many facets of this university came into being in the year 1972, and provides students opportunity towards distance education studies at their convenience.

Students of SDE study the same syllabus the official student of the university and are subject to the similar regulations as regular students of Andhra University. The Degree awarded to the students is also the same. The learning package given to students includes

Audio-video packages and
Face-to-face interaction.

The college also runs Gyan Vani, a community Radio Station that is situated SDE. It can be tuned on at the frequency of 106.4 Mhz under FM. The application can be downloaded from the website of the university. http://www.b-u.ac.in/sde) Once the candidate has satisfied all the eligibility criteria, a letter is sent to each candidate with details about the fee structure and submission of original documents. An enrollment number is given to every student who joins the university which holds good for entire course duration. An identity card is also issued to all students.

You can change the details of form as per the guidelines set forth by the university. Changing of study center is chargeable and all payment should be made via Challan or Bank Draft. Readmission is allowed and SC/ST students can take advantage of the scholarship being provided to category students.

Fee Structure

Master of Business Administration (MBA) & Master of Computer Application (MCA): According to academic year 2010-11 there were slabs according to PCP centers. Under Graduate Course fees in regions within the University like Tiruchirappalli, Thanjavur, Karur, Pudukkottai, Coimbatore, Madurai etc. are Rs.5,950/- , other universities in Tamil Nadu is Rs. 6,140/- & outside Tamil Nadu state fees are Rs.6,325/-.

Whereas fees in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Vijayawada & Mysore were Rs.7, 950/-, Rs.8, 140/- & Rs.8, 325/- according to above region wise classification. In addition to these fees students has to pay Registration Fees of Rs.300/-.

Fees for 1^st Semester: These fees are also classified in two categories: Fees within Tamil Nadu & Outside Tamil Nadu State. Students belonging to earlier region are charged at Rs. 5,700/- whereas students outside Tamil Nadu state are charged at Rs.7, 700/-. These fees include Tuition fees, Study Material cost, Postage & Stationery & Alumni Fees.

Fees for Subsequent semesters: The University here also charges the fees on the basis of above classification. Fees of 2^nd & 4^th Semester for students in Tamil Nadu are Rs.5, 500/- whereas outside Tamil Nadu are Rs.7, 500/-. But, for 3^rd semester it charges Rs.10/- extra in above fees.

Fees are payable through Demand Draft drawn in favor of Centre of Distance Education (CDE), Bharathidasan University, payable at Tiruchirappalli, issued by Nationalized bank. Alternatively fees can be paid through challan in favor of Centre of Distance Education through any branch of State Bank of India, a bank hired to collect the money on behalf of university.

Admission Procedure at the University

The potential candidate has to submit duly filled application form through Online or Offline mode. If a student has to submit the form through an Online mode then he has to visit the Bharathidasan University’s website or if he has to submit the application form through Offline mode then he has to send it through courier or by post by addressing it to Director of Center of Distance Education or the concerned person who is looking after admission procedures.

In order to take the admission at Bharathidasan University candidates has to pass in Common Entrance Test conducted by Bharathidasan University at assigned centers. For admission only those students are selected who are on top of merit lists & qualified the exam.

Director of Center of Distance Education, Bharathidasan University is the concerned authority for admission procedure. It will be done within the University campus or approved study centers of university selected by candidate. While submission of application form candidate has to produce original documents with stamp size photograph affixed on the form.

Examination & Evaluation Procedure:
