I am a true believer that a portrait photo can tell the viewer a story about a person just by the clothes the subject is wearing, the way they present, the environment the photo is taken in and of course the emotions displayed by the subject. to me portrait photography is so much more than focusing and pushing a button!

Portrait photography is a diverse area of work however I have come up with a system to please most.

Location shoots

Be it your house, the beach or a beautiful park, location shoots are my favourite!

During a location shoot I can capture both posed and natural environment images of the subjects to create a great mix of images.

The location shoot package is as follows.

• 90 minutes duration (Simon and assistant) in which time I capture what ever quality images present.
• Post production of images
• Images supplied on USB key for printing and web/email use.
• Package cost $295.00

Studio shoots

A studio shoot provides a supurb controlled environment for portraiture photography.

This is best for babies/infants/maternity shots or those wanting a professional portfolio of works.

The Studio shoot package is as follows.

• 60 minutes durationwith Chris and/or or Simon
• Post production with images supplied on USB key for printing and web/email use.
• Package cost $249.00

Just Shoot It!

For those who don’t want the bells and whistles to make your day complete, we offer an alternative. The ‘Just Shoot It’ package.

To maintain a level of professionalism I do not shoot without an assistant and all images are polished off in post production before being forwarded to you.

A ‘Just Shoot It’ package  is $175.00 with a minimum 6 hours booking. Each additional hour at base rate of $175.00.

The package includes:

• Simon & assistant (second shooter)
• Travel within Sydney metro area (Blue Mountains/Wollongong/Central Coast add $100)
• Post production on all images
• Images available via online file server.

What a great wedding! The weather was simply out standing and the location was the Central Coast which meant a chance to get out of the city. Something I don’t do often enough!

This was the second wedding for the couple however they looked so in love you could have sworn they were high school sweetheartsThe ceremony took place in Kantara House Green Point which was a very pretty little venue with lots of greenery and filtered light.

The ceremony finished with the release of butterflies flying off into the air. Normally butterflies need a few seconds to warm up but these guys flew away on cue!

The food at the reception was great (thank you Vicki and Steve!) and I had the pleasure of sitting with a country band who had me in stitches for a lot of the time!

It will be a big year for training at My Camera & I, I have already received numerous requests for my one day training session in basic Digital SLR and I am happy to announce 2 dates in January.

Sunday the 8th January and Sunday 15th January has been put aside for the 8 hour basic Digital SLR Course.

Limited to 5 people per class we will cover a range of theory and practical shooting in Sydneys famous Rocks area, which just happens to be my favourite place in Sydney!

In the one day course you will learn about:

• Shooting portraits

Last night I presented another mini-session for the team at Woolworths head office in Bella Vista.

The topic was Aperture and Shutter Speed and after a theoretical lesson we went full swing into the practical shooting outside the front of their campus.

It was great to see that even those who I considered to be competent photographers, learn a few tips along the way.

It won’t be long and I will be back there again teaching a 10 week course, something I am very much looking forward to!

NSW led the charge to the altar with more than 41,000 couples tying the knot, while 28,525 Victorians said their vows.

And it looks likely to be another bumper year. Celebrants and bridal gown designers predict business may be even better this year.

Armadale designer Connie Simonetti says there has been a big increase in the number of brides trying on gowns.

“I think a lot of that is because of the royal wedding (of Prince William to Kate Middleton) this year,” she said.

“That wedding was so highly publicised and followed, a lot of brides wanted to see what she wore before getting married. Many also like the idea of getting married in the same year as the royal couple.”

Ms Simonetti, who has been making bridal gowns for 25 years, said November was always one of the busiest months for weddings and this year was even bigger because many couples wanted to marry on the unforgettable date of 11/11/11.

I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot my first horse show on Saturday in a little country town near Goulburn called Bungendore. Seriously if I had never heard of this place before and it’s a few k’s off the main highway however the town really is a treat to visit and great for photographers! If your a keen photographer this place seriously has so much to offer!

Due to a full weekend of commitments I only managed to spend a half day down at Bungendore and after being exposed to the elements I really felt that the images needed something different than a standard shot. The wind was howling, the clouds littered the sky and the cold was enough to seize up any old joints!

Taking all this into consideration I got to work creating images that reflected both the pale landscape, the weather and of course the country atmosphere with a couple of old style images.
