As reported by ReMax of New England,the RE/MAX of New England January Monthly Housing Report shows that year-over-year, the number of unit sales in every state in New England, except Vermont, is slightly higher than January 2011. New Hampshire and Rhode Island experienced the highest change in units sold with an increase of 16.8% and 17.8%, respectively. While the number of transactions remain relatively flat, prices continue to dip in every state in New England.

“The slight uptick in sales is encouraging as it means buyers are active in the market, however, we are still trying to find a balance between buyer expectations and market realities when it comes to pricing,” said Jay Hummer, Executive Vice President, RE/MAX of New England.

The 2011 Home Buyer/Seller Study includes more than 4,200 evaluations from more than 3,680 respondents who bought or sold a home between March 2010 and April 2011. The study was fielded between March and May 2011.

Music at Mendon, a monthly series of free musical events will resume in February.  Concerts are held at the Unitarian Church in Mendon at 4PM on the second Sunday of each month except April when the concert is moved to April 15 due to Easter.

The first concert will be held on Sunday, February 12, and will feature Mark Manderville and Raianne Richards.  Mark Manderville and Rainne Richards are a folk duo from Massachusetts who sing songs that resonate with the lover of Americana and old country music, commanding familiar traditional melodies and poignant, introspective lyrics, and backing them with delicate arrangements on ukulele, clarinet, guitar and banjo.  They have recently returned from a cross-country tour.  Following the concert, light refreshments will be served and there will be an opportunity to meet the musicians.

Each month there will be a variety of musical genres and styles.  Come to hear those styles that you know you enjoy, or come to hear something with which you are less familiar.

There is no charge or financial contribution requested, however, those who attend are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to be contributed to a local food bank.
