It all started in the early 1990’s, when Robby Schwarz, currently a Principle of EnergyLogic and Director of Builder Relations, was an employee of McStain. He was working on McStain’s Eco House, a project designed to analyze the multitude of new green building materials that were new to the market at that time and figure out which ones were applicable to the production building environment.  Robby gained an understanding and interest in applied building science and systems thinking, which is an approach toward building homes that looks for the synergies created through the interactions of all the parts of the house.  This creates a home that truly performs and meets the core values that people have for their homes that are most often not spoken of during the sales processes;  comfort, durability, safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

After graduating from CU in 1992, he decided to pursue his goals and went to work for McStain Neighborhoods.  As a superintendent and warranty rep, Shawn was highly involved with the “back-end” of the construction process for several new home communities.  He was even involved in the construction of the first model home at Indian Peaks, prior to leaving the company in 1994.

Over the course of the next eleven years, Shawn enjoyed working for Melody Homes, another private builder in the Denver metro area.  He was quickly promoted to Pre-Construction Manager, where he oversaw plan approvals and permitting, as well as managed the architectural design process for various consultants to the company.
