Elizabethtown is located along the Ohio River (which divides Illinois from Kentucky). It will be a gorgeous ride, down to a beautiful part of the state.

#1) We are collecting backpacks.
#2) We will be filling backpacks for children that go in to foster care in our area. Most often, the children going into foster care have nothing except for the clothes on their backs. We want to fill backpacks with personal items for these children to have when they are abruptly taken out of their homes. Socks, blankets, small toys, stuffed animals, books, outfits, coloring books and crayons, toothbrushes, etc (anything that a small child might like to have).
#3) We are also going to fill backpacks with school supplies to bless single parent families at Meadowbrook and in our community. We want to provide support to these families during the back-to-school time. Pencils, crayons, scissors, paper, rulers, erasers, markers, paint, etc.
#4) Join us on Sunday, June 23, for a backpack packing party! We will be coming together to pack the collected backpacks with all of the goodies dropped off. It will be a great time! If you have any questions, please contact Jenn Bettinger or Pastor Joe Barth.

We are gearing up for another winning Mega Sports Camp for all children who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade. The week will teach and challenge children in the track of their choice (Baseball, Basketball, Gymnastics, Life & Ministry or Soccer) and will also encourage them in their faith in Christ. Please note there are caps of 30 on Gymnastics and Life and Ministry tracks. Camp runs Monday through Friday the week of June 24-28, 9:00am to 12:00pm daily.

We are also looking for adults and teenagers who can assist the week of camp by serving as assistant coaches, snack and water assistants, nurses, daily registrars, etc. Please contact Pastor Adam if you are interested in serving in Mega Sports Camp; this is one of our biggest outreaches of the year.

First, we’ll kick off the summer with a day trip to Six Flags – Great America on Thursday, June 6.

On July 2 we are having a brand new JH Only trip to Conner Prairie. Please bring a sack lunch.

Then we’ll spend an amazing week in Carlinville at IL District Teen Camp, July 8–12. This event requires a separate registration which you can download from the link below. You can also get a copy of the packing list for guys and girls!

Lost in the Middle
Mid-life can be messy. Dreams may be unfulfilled. Aches and pains and regrets and worries can accumulate. In this DVD series, Lost in the Middle, Paul Tripp is a faithful guide through this challenging season. This material is infused with biblical truth, gospel hope, and real-life connections. Although the topic is targeted at midlife, this teaching addresses universal struggles of every human being which makes it a wonderful class for young people as well, who will unavoidably face these things. It’s an excellent way to prepare for the road ahead. You do not have to be paralyzed by regret, defeated by aging, and discouraged by the passing of your dreams. You do not have to make greater trouble out of the trouble you are already experiencing. This time of life, which can seem like the end of many things, can actually welcome you to a brand new way of living. As is so often the case in your walk with the Lord, this moment of pain is also a moment of grace. Each class will include a 25-minute DVD teaching session, small group discussion, and testimonies. Join Pastor Kent on Wednesdays at 6:30pm, April 3 through May 22.

Marriage Retreat LITE
What happened to that perfect person you married? When did you turn into opposites? Where did all those nasty conflicts come from?

Join your hosts, Kevin and Deborah Crandall, as they have planned entertaining and powerful one and a half hour weekly getaways where you’ll discover Bible-based strategies for understanding and bonding with your spouse, no matter how long you’ve been together.

This eight week Marriage Retreat LITE will reveal how everybody including opposites can get along, communicate, and resolve disagreements and explains “the five love languages” that bring couples closer together. You and your spouse will discover how two very different people can “become one” as God intended. We will hear from several of the top marriage experts in our country throughout the course of our Marriage Retreat LITE, such Gary Chapman, the Parrots, the Smalleys and more!!

Marriage Retreat LITE is designed to be a couples’ Wednesday evening getaway. Sign up and plan to join us in this enriching adventure in Room 150 at 6:30pm on Wednesdays beginning April 3. Cost is $10 per couple for materials.

Round Trip
Join us on Wednesdays, from April 3 through May 22, at 6:30pm for a trip around the world! Our time together will include a well put together documentary, lively discussion and real stories related to cross-cultural missions experiences.

The documentary is the story of two short-term mission trips—one from Chapel Hill Bible Church in North Carolina, the other from Mavuno Downtown, part of the Nairobi Chapel network of churches in Kenya. They partner together and are both deeply committed to church planting, evangelism, and caring for the poor. Theirs is a story of individuals and families from America and Africa who open themselves up to what God is doing in the world. We will discuss important issues related to short term missions such as: lasting change, preparations, cross-cultural encounters, culture shock (and the emotions that come with it), living with a broader perspective, and more!

This class will be facilitated and taught by Pastor Joe Barth who has been on and lead many mission trips. His missions experiences have taken him to China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Bahamas, Mexico, El Salvador, and Czech Republic working with teenagers, children, college students and adults.

Who should attend this class? Individuals who are considering a short-term mission trip, churches who are sending short-term teams, and the teams themselves as they prepare to go—anyone who wants to do short-term mission trip with excellence, integrity, and real partnership with the church around the world. Whether you have been on a mission trip or are considering one, you will find this class to be a challenging time as we take a look at what God is doing through His people around the world.

The Story will be presented in three different parts on:
Palm Sunday, March 24
Good Friday, March 29
Resurrection Sunday, March 31

All three presentations are easily followed individually but will have a more meaningful impact if you are able to come and bring a friend to all three. Come and find out how you fit into God’s story!

Lunch will be available for purchase that afternoon from our youth group to help support their summer mission trip to the New York/New Jersey area hit by Hurricane Sandy.

Looking for something to do during spring break? Parents, do you want your students to have a great week of serving and outreach opportunities? If so, then the Big Fish Spring Break Mission Retreat is just for you!

Open to all our junior high and high school students, this week is full of service projects throughout the C/U area. The retreat will begin Tuesday, March 19 at 8:00am through Friday March 22 at 5:00pm. We will serve our church and local ministries in the morning and afternoon (Salt and Light, Restoration Urban Ministries, Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, and others.)

Each morning we will start with personal devotions and a group Bible study. We will sleep at the church each night and shower after swimming at Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center. This is a great week for our students to serve our local community and grow in the Lord at the same time. The cost will be $50 by March 11 then be raised to $60 after the Early Bird deadline.
