It's been dampish for the past couple of Chinese New Year parades.

It doesn't seem to keep the crowds away or dampen anyone's enthusiasm.
(these aren't very sharp images, I was struggling with low light, wide open apertures, yada, yada …)

It's not uncommon to see life-like sculptures of cows, horses, and bulls in other Canadian cities such as Toronto (thanks Redpat).
This is the type of work Joe Fafard is famous for.
I didn't know this piece existed before I stumbled upon it by chance on Thursday.

Cardero's is a trendy restaurant/pub on the dangling over the water not far from Stanley Park.

The name is borrowed from an adjacent street.

The street is named, in a roundabout way, after a member of an 18th century Spanish expedition.
His name was Cordero.
I blame poor penmanship.

When I was a kid I skated on Lost Lagoon.
It didn't freeze every winter but it was a big deal when it did.
The last time the ice was thick enough to skate on was at least 10 years ago.

I wouldn't give a movie shoot a second glance except that they can be fodder for the old blog-aroo.

This scene involved bank robbers firing automatic weapons of some sort during the getaway.

The movie is called Out Of Time.
It's Canadian.

No one will watch it.

p.s. it only got to about -4ºC yesterday. I suppose there was some wind chill at times.

We have very little snow in town (as of this writing) but they got walloped in the valley.

Today's forecast high is -6º C or 21º American.

An 'Arctic Outflow Warning" means temps could drop to 20º below.

I'll believe it when it happens.

The Carnival Band played at the grand opening of Sophie's Place in Surrey, B.C. on Sunday.

Gene Simmons, his wife Shannon Tweed (Canadian by birth) and daughter Sophie were in attendance.

Gene kidded around with the band for one song.

I know who KISS is (are) (were) but I doubt I've heard one of there songs all the way through.

Cool makeup though.

This '47 Chrysler always seems to be parked in front of Joe Fortes restaurant on Thurlow St.

Taking a wild guess, I'd say it's been photographed a bizillion times, give or take.
Joe Fortes is legendary as a lifeguard at English Bay who taught untold numbers of kids to swim around the turn of the last century.

At some point, part way up this tower, the Shangi-la ceases to be an expensive hotel and becomes an expensive condo.

The more expensive the condos the more likely the view could be obscured by clouds.
