When It Rain Cats and Dogs

Medan was poured by heavy rain along with strong wind on last 2 days. The result was: flood here, flood there, including the area where I live. Not only that, lots of advertising banners and billboard (old one and new one with not strong foundation) was falling down and/or torn apart.

Just like this old billboard on the roof of someone’s house, at Medan Mall area. Luckily it didn’t fall down on the road.

I went for a meet-up with high school friends last week. We planned to have dinner together and were craving for ice cream and/or gelato. So we headed to Gelato Bar after ‘the driver’ – a friend who fetched us – went to buy a new hid kits for the car.

We ordered spaghetti, steak and chicken chop. After that, continue with taking picture and chatting session. Followed by choosing gelato for dessert. We went to the ice-cream bar and tried a few flavors before deciding on what we want.

Buffet at Perhentian Island Resort

The snorkeling package that we booked online from Perhentian Island Resort has included the buffet for all 3 meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner. The price is cheaper compare to booking accommodation on its own and meals on its own. Breakfast (buffet) is at RM37 while lunch is at RM46, same goes to dinner.

Their food is surprisingly good, both Asian and Western food. So I’ve been eating quite alot for the past 3 days (total 6 meals of buffet) and the digestion was good too. Hey, we got to eat tonnes of fruits each meal. It made me forgot about the colon cleanse reviews for a while until we were back to the city and continued eating junk food without consuming fruit.

Snorkeling at Perhentian Island

Highlight of my previous vacation was to Perhentian Island, located at coast of northeastern Malaysia. Perhentian means stopping point or place to stop, consists of 2 islands: big (Perhentian Besar) and small (Perhentian Kecil).

I went with family and booked the 3D2N Snorkeling Package with Perhentian Island Resort, one of the oldest resort in Perhentian Island with a very nice private beach. It was my third time visiting a beach and was amazed with the clean white sand and clear blue water. A contradiction to our local beach, Pantai Cermin which has a brownish water and dirty sand.

Since it is a beach with sand, forget about bringing your huge trolley luggage and high heels. Bring backpacker bag or hand-carry-bag and wear sandals or comfortable MBT shoes cause you will be walking alot with heavy luggage.

Quite a lot of ang moh (read: Americans, Europeans, etc) went to Perhentian Island; sunbathing and reading novels while laying at the beach.

Feel good after the vacation

It feels good to be on vacation for a week, without laptop and internet connection. It was the first time ever I took a complete break from work and stuffs. I did online a few times, cause boyfriend brought his laptop along, but it was solely to re-check the hotel and vacation thing. I did my best to avoid touching work related stuff and emails.

The highlight of the trip was the 3 days 2 nights at Perhentian Island, Malaysia. I can’t say that I have seen all part of Perhentian Island cause we only spent time around the private beach of the Perhentian Island Resort. It is quite far from the other resorts and chalets.

The package included accommodation, meals, snorkeling and boat transfer. Every morning there was a ready coffee makers for us and many choices of foods. After all, it was a buffet meal with Chinese foods + Malay foods + Western foods. Perfect combination.

I am re-charged and ready to get back to work now.
