Mini-Microsoft: Microsoft Has Turned The Corner
A great post about Microsoft and its recent activities.

The take away is that Microsoft is recovering from internal cancer and has a better chance to remain relevant in the years ahead.

I particularly enjoy the comment conversation that's going on at that post. A gem here: "It's like watching dinosaurs mating".

Microsoft just doesn't "get it". Focus on the OS!! Win 7 is a good start. But what about WinMo?

The copying to WIN strategy isn't viable as it once was for MSFT. Especially since in recent years when Microsoft has been copying ideas from open source projects and re-branding them ala Sharepoint etc. Recently Microsoft decided to copy from big boy Google who seems to be not so keen on Bing; striking Microsoft at its heart with Chrome OS(Scareware? John C. Dvorak thinks so.).

Has Microsoft turned the corner?

Well my magic eight ball says "Outlook not so good."

Bad news for Microsoft if this survey reported by Reuters is indicator of things to come: 6 out of 10 companies plan to skip Windows 7

Anime Bonzai

Anime Bonzai is a free site that can be edited by anyone on Wetpaint, a free to use web hosting & Wiki platform. I created Anime Bonzai to test out Wetpaint.com. At Wetpaint which is the Geocities of social media, anyone can create a site about anything and you must pay a fee to remove the google ads. However, it does hold some promise as being a WYSIWYG site creator. Feel free to explore Anime Bonzai(add some stuff!) or create your own wetpaint site. The Video adding feature is my favorite thing about Wetpaint.com as it lets you search Youtube by keyword to easily add videos effortlessly. What is lacking is SYNDICATION(RSS, Atom, etc). Without the feeds to pull in or push out content to other social media platforms and services it really fails as a new media platform. Perhaps these features will be added in the future. Also there isn't any javascript bookmarklets(yet) or an API I am aware of. So manually updating a site is a bear when compared to sites like Tumblr. In the end Wetpaint needs another coat. ;)

Twitter as a command-line

At Le Web 3, Ev Williams mentioned in his talk that Twitter can be thought of as a command-line. Twitter can be used as a device-independent, global command line that sits on top of a large user-base. This suggests several things for the future of applications that take advantage of Twitter: for example, you could create a service that takes in commands, via Twitter, from various input devices. For a business, there is a cost-saving to be had, as well as a rapid launch and the flexibility of multiple ways of interacting with people.

My take on it: This could be interesting for all apps: mobile, cloud, or desktop. Even video games.
