width="547" />

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav practiced yoga alongside members of the Gayatri Parivar at Gayatri Dham in Jamli (Sendhwa), located in the Barwani district, Madhya Pradesh. Highlighting the importance of yoga, spiritual consciousness, positive thinking, and a healthy lifestyle, he encouraged everyone to follow the path of goodwill and virtuous deeds.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav remarked that with Sharad Purnima, the season of Diwali has truly begun. He expressed the hope that the lamp ignited by the Divine within each of our hearts may remain a constant source of energy throughout our lives. He prayed that as long as our bodies remain capable, we may continue to perform virtuous deeds, harbor goodwill, and see the eradication of all negative thoughts. He extended his best wishes to everyone.

CM Mohan. Yadav stated that the birth of a human being and the completion of their life’s journey are both part of a divinely ordained timeline. He urged everyone to make the best possible use of the life granted to them through the grace of Mahakal, Lord Shri Krishna, and Mother Gayatri. Every individual should strive to utilize their time on earth to the fullest by performing good deeds and moving forward with a positive mindset.

CM also planted a sapling in the Gayatri Dhan premises. Referring to the profound Vedic aphorism from Indian philosophy, "Yat Pinde Tat Brahmande" (As is the individual, so is the universe), CM explained that the elements present within our own bodies are also reflected in the vast expanse of the universe. Nature, vegetation, the five fundamental elements (Pancha-tattva), and the life force (Prana-tattva) hold special significance in human existence; the structure of creation and life can be understood through these five great elements (Pancha-mahabhuta).

CM further noted that beyond the physical body, the journey of the soul also carries deep spiritual significance. He stated that, by the grace of the Divine, we should all define a goal for our lives and move forward toward achieving it. By embracing spiritual consciousness, goodwill, and virtuous deeds, we should contribute to the welfare of society and the nation.

CM Mohan Yadav to Award Bhagwan Shri Krishna Meritorious Scholarships on MP Foundation Day: 102 Meritorious Students to Receive ₹1 Lakh Each and Certificates

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will award the Bhagwan Shri Krishna Meritorious Scholarship to 102 students on Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day. These facilities are expected to bolster the security and reliability of India’s financial system.

The data center will cater to the RBI’s computing and data management requirements, while the cybersecurity institute will train professionals to tackle emerging digital threats. For the average customer, enhanced cybersecurity translates to safer digital transactions, better protection of financial information, and fewer disruptions in banking services. The actual benefit will depend on how effectively these facilities are utilized.

PM Modi stated that the next phase of financial inclusion in India will focus primarily on making banking more efficient and trustworthy. Citing the approximately 60 crore 'Jan Dhan' accounts, the expansion of digital banking, and the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, he noted that these measures are crucial for integrating more people into the formal financial system.

He also highlighted the loans provided under the 'Mudra' scheme, credit support for street vendors and artisans, and assistance extended to women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs). He remarked that these initiatives have enabled individuals to access formal credit and sustain their livelihoods.

As digital payments continue to expand, these new facilities will strengthen the RBI’s capacity to address cyber risks. This is particularly significant for small businesses, rural customers, and first-time users of digital banking, who require secure and reliable services.

This initiative could contribute to the development of technology and advanced computing in Odisha, while also creating new opportunities for skilled professionals. Its long-term impact will depend on effective implementation, robust cybersecurity practices, and the quality of services delivered to citizens.

Dhar's Mohammad Arif Khatri will showcase Madhya Pradesh’s rich 'Bagh Craft' at 'Indo-Sri Lanka Ceylon Craft Week 2026'

Bhopal: The rich cultural and handicraft heritage of Madhya Pradesh is set to begin a new chapter on the global stage. Mohammad Arif Khatri, a master artisan from the renowned town of 'Bagh' in the Dhar district, has been invited to participate in the 'Indo-Sri Lanka Ceylon Craft Week 2026'—a prestigious international handicraft trade fair to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from October 29 to November 1, 2026.

This international event is being jointly organized by the 'National Crafts Council' (under Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development) and the 'Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre' at the High Commission of India in Colombo.

The primary objective of the fair is to foster the exchange of cultural heritage between India and Sri Lanka and to promote traditional craftsmanship. Focusing on exclusively handmade products and handloom items, the event offers an excellent platform to showcase the unique identity of 'Bagh print' textiles to the world.

Renowned for its natural dyes, traditional block-printing techniques, and distinctive patterns, 'Bagh print' is more than just a textile design; it is a symbol of cultural identity and artistic mastery passed down through generations. Khatri’s participation highlights the international potential of Madhya Pradesh’s traditional artisans and elevates this esteemed heritage of the state to new heights on the global stage.

How an MA Graduate in Madhya Pradesh Turned Woodcraft into a Livelihood: Shahdol's Durga Singh Earns ₹6,000–₹8,000 Monthly Through Traditional Art

Bhopal: Despite facing financial challenges, Durga Singh from Chhatwai village in Shahdol district is shaping her future through her artistic talent. A postgraduate in Psychology, Durga is learning woodcraft and Gond painting at the local Handloom and Handicraft Center in Chhatwai, and has already begun earning an income from her work.

Durga completed her postgraduate studies in 2019 and initially prepared for government job examinations. However, limited financial resources within her family made it difficult for her to continue these preparations. She decided to acquire practical skills to become financially independent and support her family.

From Tailoring to Woodcraft

Durga first learned tailoring and knitting, and later underwent training in beauty services. As these pursuits did not yield the income she had hoped for, she continued to seek better opportunities. Eventually, she enrolled at the local handicraft center to learn Gond painting, which sparked her interest in woodcraft as well.

Although she began learning woodcraft only about a month ago, she is already earning between ₹6,000 and ₹8,000 per month. She expects her income to grow as she gains more experience and refines her skills.

Her training in Gond painting has helped her develop an understanding of line drawings, shapes, and color combinations—all of which are highly valuable in designing wooden artifacts. Durga’s father is a laborer, while her mother is a homemaker. She aspires to build a career and contribute to her family’s financial needs.

Shivshankar Pandey, the person in charge of the center, said that Durga shows great aptitude for woodcraft and is very keen to learn. Currently, 12 women and 17 men are learning or practicing this craft at the center. This indicates a growing interest among women in traditional handicrafts as a means of livelihood.

Experience a glimpse of diverse regional art forms, traditional techniques, and local craftsmanship at 21st 'Saras Mela' at Bhopal Haat

Bhopal: The 21st regional 'Saras Mela-2026' commenced on Saturday at the Bhopal Haat complex. The fair provides a platform for the creators of these products to connect directly with urban buyers.

Participation from 15 states and over 200 entrepreneurs

This year, 52 Self-Help Groups representing 15 states have registered for the event. Additionally, approximately 104 groups from 45 districts of Madhya Pradesh have set up stalls to display and sell their products. Furthermore, around 45 master artisans, supported by the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), are showcasing their specialized craft. Consequently, the total number of registered self-employed participants has reached approximately 201.

Visitors to the fair are offered a magnificent cultural glimpse into various regional art forms, traditional techniques, and local craftsmanship—all under one roof. This initiative boosted sales and generated a new demand for millet, encouraging farmers to return to cultivating this traditional crop.

In Sadolpara village, in the West Garo Hills, a farmer named Chekjing Sangma adopted modern methods for millet cultivation. This led to an increase in his income and raised awareness about the crop among other villagers.

A similar transformation is taking place in Kezoma village, in the Kohima district of Nagaland, where millet cultivation had ceased for over a decade. The local community resumed farming in 2024 and hosted their first 'Millet Festival' in 2025. Demand for millet-based products is also growing in this region.

The core message emphasized by the Prime Minister Modi is that when young people and local communities introduce innovation, value addition, and entrepreneurship into agriculture, traditional crops can become a new source of economic opportunity. Such initiatives can improve rural incomes, revive agricultural traditions that had been forgotten, and help villages move toward prosperity without losing their cultural heritage.

Shahdol forests vital for tiger and elephant movement; playing a crucial role in connecting Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Sanjay Gandhi, and Achanakmar Tiger Reserves

Shahdol district holds significant importance for wildlife conservation due to its rich forest resources and biodiversity. The district’s dense forests serve as a natural corridor for the movement of various wild animals, including tigers, elephants, leopards, and bears. The geographical location of Shahdol is vital in facilitating the movement of wildlife between various forest regions across Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

While Shahdol itself is not a tiger reserve, its forest area is critical as it forms part of the wildlife corridors connecting Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (in Umaria district), Kanha Tiger Reserve, Sanjay Gandhi Tiger Reserve (in Sidhi district), and Achanakmar Tiger Reserve (in Chhattisgarh). In particular, the forests within the South Forest Division act as a key link for the movement of wildlife between these protected areas.

Importance of Natural Habitat and Availability of Food and Water

The dense forests of Shahdol—characterized by sal trees, natural water sources, and an abundance of food—create favorable conditions for wildlife. Tigers may travel to other forest areas to expand their territory, seek new habitats, or follow food availability. Similarly, elephants traverse long distances along their traditional migratory routes. During these natural movements, the forests of Shahdol assist wildlife in traveling from one forest region to another.

Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Umaria district is renowned for its tiger population. The presence of elephants here is also significant from a wildlife conservation perspective.

The movement of elephants—arriving from Chhattisgarh and passing through the forest areas of Anuppur and Shahdol to reach Bandhavgarh—underscores the importance of these forests. Since the arrival of elephants in the Bandhavgarh region around 2018, their continued presence has remained a key factor in wildlife conservation efforts.

Importance of Conserving Wildlife Corridors

Wildlife corridors are natural pathways that allow wild animals to move freely between different forest areas. These routes may encompass not only forests but also rivers, hills, villages, and inhabited areas. Maintaining the integrity of these corridors ensures that wildlife can move between, and remain connected across, various forest regions.

Disruptions to these corridors—caused by deforestation, construction, or other human activities—can hinder the movement of wildlife. Such interference weakens the connectivity between their natural habitats and increases the risk of human-wildlife conflict. Therefore, the conservation of these corridors is essential for preserving biodiversity and ensuring the safety of local residents.

Staying Alert to the Presence of Wildlife

Villagers living in areas frequented by tigers and elephants need to remain vigilant. If wildlife is spotted near a forest or a village, one should avoid approaching, surrounding, or provoking the animals; instead, the Forest Department should be promptly informed. Furthermore, maintaining the availability of natural habitats, water, and food sources within forest areas is a crucial component of wildlife conservation.

The protection of forest areas in Shahdol, Anuppur, and Umaria plays a vital role in safeguarding the natural heritage of the entire division. The forests of Shahdol serve as a critical link for the movement of wildlife between significant forest tracts in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Preserving these natural corridors is essential for the conservation of tigers, elephants, and other wild animals, for maintaining biodiversity, and for reducing the likelihood of human-wildlife conflict.

Madhya Pradesh: Tigress MT3 Spotted With Two Cubs in Shivpuri's Madhav Tiger Reserve

Another significant milestone has been achieved in tiger conservation in Madhya Pradesh. Tigress MT3 in Madhav Tiger Reserve (Shivpuri) has been spotted with two cubs, estimated to be about three months old. This is the tigress’s second litter. Furthermore, this marks the third instance of tiger births in Madhav Tiger Reserve since the commencement of the tiger reintroduction program on March 10, 2023.

This achievement reflects the progress being made toward establishing a stable and breeding tiger population within the reserve. The successful reproduction of tigers also underscores the importance of a favorable wildlife habitat and effective conservation efforts within the reserve.

Previously, Tigress MT3 had given birth to two cubs—one male and one female—who are now approximately 28 months old. With the arrival of these new cubs, Madhav Tiger Reserve (Shivpuri) is now home to two breeding-age tigresses and six tigers born within the reserve itself. The total number of tigers in the reserve has now reached 11.

The increase in the tiger population at Madhav Tiger Reserve is a testament to the sustained efforts of the field staff, veterinary teams, reserve management, and senior leadership. The recording of this third litter serves as an encouraging achievement for the state’s tiger reintroduction and conservation program.

Major Milestone in Digital Agriculture; 11 Crore Farmer IDs Created Five Months Ahead of Schedule: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

The Government of India has achieved its target of creating 11 crore Farmer IDs, five months ahead of the March 31, 2027, deadline. Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, announced that this milestone was reached on the night of October 23 under the 'Digital Agriculture Mission'.

A Farmer ID provides farmers with a unique digital identity, enabling them to easily access benefits from government schemes, bank loans, crop insurance, and disaster relief. It is also expected to reduce the need for paperwork and repeated document verification.

Distribution of govt benefits will be more transparent and efficient

Shivraj stated that this initiative will make the distribution of government benefits more transparent and efficient. It will simplify the loan process under the 'Kisan Credit Card' scheme, improve the settlement of crop insurance claims, and expedite disaster relief payments. This digital system is also expected to bring greater transparency to the procurement of crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

More than six crore farmers have already received benefits from various schemes through the Farmer ID-based system.

A significant step toward the modernization of agriculture

The Minister attributed this achievement to the coordinated efforts of the central and state governments, the administrations of Union Territories, and officials working at the district and village levels. He added that efforts are underway to include eligible tenant farmers and those who are actively engaged in cultivation within this system.

Chouhan described the Farmer ID as a significant step toward the modernization of agriculture. He noted that it would ensure government assistance reaches eligible farmers with minimal difficulty.

PM Modi to visit Uttar Pradesh and Odisha on 25 October: here's his agenda

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh and Odisha on 25 October 2026. According to official data, the Forest Department has reclaimed 962.35 hectares of land this year and registered 75 new cases of encroachment.

Despite these efforts, about 19,032.65 hectares of land remain under illegal occupation. Such large-scale encroachment threatens wildlife habitats, disrupts the ecological balance, and may also impact groundwater levels.

Disputed Land Records Hinder Enforcement Action

Environmentalists have questioned the Forest Department's capacity to protect forest land. They allege that encroachers are clearing forests for cultivation, while action is frequently delayed due to disputes surrounding land records.

Another significant issue pertains to land titles that were allegedly issued by the Revenue Department decades ago. Some encroachers use these documents to assert ownership claims over forest land. However, under Section 1(2) of the 'Madhya Pradesh Land Revenue Code, 1959', forest areas declared as 'reserved' or 'protected' under the 'Indian Forest Act, 1927' are excluded from the purview of this Code. The validity of these documents is currently being examined.

Forest Department is planning further action

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Mayank Chandiawal stated that the department has cleared illegal encroachments from approximately 1,000 hectares of land and has planted trees on it.

He added that their priority is to free more forest land from illegal encroachment and expand the tree cover, thereby providing more space for wildlife to inhabit.

The department is also scrutinizing land documents issued by the Revenue Department. If the investigation reveals that these documents were issued in violation of the rules, a report will be submitted to the Revenue Department and the Collector, recommending their cancellation.

The challenge now lies in how to reclaim the remaining forest land and prevent future illegal encroachments.

Bastar Dussehra serves as a vibrant symbol of Chhattisgarh’s cultural pride and faith: President Droupadi Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu graced and addressed a public programme at Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh on October 23, 2026 on the occasion of Bastar Dussehra.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that Bastar Dussehra serves as a vibrant symbol of Chhattisgarh’s cultural pride and collective faith. The manner in which the entire community participates in the Bastar Dussehra festival is truly extraordinary. Various rituals of this festival foster a deep sense of connection and kinship among different sections of society.

The President said that Chhattisgarh has long endured the scourge of Naxalism. Through the coordinated efforts of the central and state governments, the region has been freed from the menace of Naxal violence and is now advancing rapidly along the path of progress.

Murmu was happy to note that in recent times, initiatives to provide financial support to tribal entrepreneurs and connect them with markets have been further accelerated. She expressed confidence that these efforts will prove instrumental in achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047 through equitable and inclusive development.

President Murmu added that tribal communities worship nature which is life-giving. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Collector Shivam Verma at the Smart City office.

Initially, buses operating on routes to Gujarat and Rajasthan will be included in the trial. The administration plans to shift around 300 buses travelling to these states from different parts of the city to the new terminal. The trial will help assess operational arrangements before regular services begin.

The Indore Development Authority (IDA) has awarded the terminal's operation contract to Pune-based BVG. The company has taken possession of the facility and advertised shops, restaurants and offices for rent.

Last-Mile Connectivity Raises Questions

However, passenger access remains a major concern. Residents of Rajendra Nagar, Sudama Nagar, Nayta Mundla and several bypass colonies have limited public transport options to reach the terminal. There is also no feeder service connecting Sarwate and Gangwal bus stands with Kumedi, potentially forcing passengers to spend an additional Rs 300–400 on private transport.

Moreover, the proposed MR-4 road connecting Sarwate to Kumedi remains incomplete, with around 800 houses reportedly obstructing its alignment. The administration will need to address these connectivity gaps to make the trial run successful.

16 die, hundreds of houses collapse as 7.0-magnitude earthquake strikes Tibet

A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Tibet on Thursday night at approximately 8 PM.
