MASUM 2009 - UM Squash Team

It was an exciting week in UUM for MASUM (Majlis Sukan University Malaysia) 2009. Ponteng 1 week class to join the um team for the men squash team event. I'm in specialized surgery posting for this week (neuro, plastic and paed surgery), anyway it's over d, hopefully doesnt affect much lar. This was a great opportunity and experience to go out and join the atlets from other Unis. I'm stepping into final year already, this would be the last chance to paint more colours in my Uni life.

I'm not the greatest squash player in UM, but few of the players were not managed to go, so Ronie and I were recruited to UUM, Kedah to fight for UM. Changlun, a place full of memory, a place where I took my pre-U course (Matriculation) 4 years ago, had changed alot. There is a new shophouses and huge supermarket, which was not exist during my time here. Anyway, it's good to come back here after many years.

UM squash team, which had 2 superb players (Fizul & Asraf), managed to get into semifinal in the tournament. However, we lost to UPM in semifinal with 2-3. It was a tough game, where I as the 5th player, was under great pressure to play the deciding game. The guy from UPM was very good (at least to me), I lost the first game, and beat him back on 2nd game, then he grabbed back the 3rd game, then i managed to win the 4th game to make it 2-2, and sadly on 5th game, I lost to him with 2 points. Just 2 points that we needed to enter Final. Anyway it was a great match. My thigh muscle is still painful after many days now. We beat UIAM and got 3rd at last.

Neurosurgery, going into the brain with IGS (image guided surgery)

Wednesday was Dr. Dharmendra's OT day, we were lucky to have the chance to see the IGS performed on 3 patients. Moreover, three of them were using the different technique of IGS. Basically IGS is a image guided surgery, in which the computer helps the surgeon to identify and localize the lesion in the brain in order to perform some procedures such as biopsy, drainage etc.

Brain is the most vital organ in our body. Any small damage may cause serious impact on the patient function. Therefore, these modern technology help to localize the lesion to even less than 1 mm error, giving a much better operation outcome and reduce morbidity and mortality.

IGS uses the help from CT Scan and MRI, it can combine both images to produce the desire picture. 3 types of IGS are framed, frameless and making a preset pathway. The computer is from BrainLab, currently on trial period, and the technicians were there to explain and show the way to use the computer.

This is the first patient with frame. After CT scan immediate before surgery, the CT picture is transferred to the computer. After setting a preferred pathway to enter the brain for biopsy, the computer will calculate the angles for surgeons. You can see Dr. Dharmendra is setting the angles on the gadgets.

The top and bottom gadgets are set with the same angle to calibrate the accuracy. The needle touching right on the centre showing good accuracy.

After incise through the scalp, drilling is done to go through the skull.

One can see the drilled hole on the skull. Scary isnt it?

The second patient uses frameless technique, not as accurate as the framed one, but still has very high accuracy. Note that there are 'cameras' on the patient to identify the probe location.

The location of probe will be translate into the CT Scan of patient taken earlier. However, this technology doesnt show the insight view after procedure is performed eg. abscess drainage on this patient. Brain structure may change after drainage, thus the image is no longer accurate after that.

Third patient has a preset pathway to let the needle enter. A needle holder which looks like a robot hand, is set up based on the calculated angles. The biopsy needle will then enter the brain, and the computer will show on live of the needle entering.

I'm in neurosurgery, plastic surgery and paediatric surgery for this 2 weeks. They are highly specialized surgical field, and I have no idea what's going on most of the time. But it's nice to have the chance to see how things work nowadays. I believe this opportunity is not available everywhere, as it requires a modern facilities, good technicians, suitable patients and skilled neurosurgeon (there are only very few neurosurgeon consultant in this country!)

Btw, we had lunch in OT (first time) with Dr. Dharmendra, he is very nice and we are glad to learn with him. Going for for MASUM (Majlis Sukan Universiti Malaysia) in UUM Kedah today, playing squash. Gonna back on next Wed or Thurs, will miss quite a few classes. Hopefully I will pick up.

Flying Kites at Kepong

Second time climbing Batu Cave staircase

Last Sunday I had a wonderful birthday with my darling. I went to Batu Cave for the second time, and dropped by a place when on the way back to PJ. It was a famous kite flying place, well known in Kepong. Thanks to TC for introducing the place to me.

Simple but colourful rainbow kite, it's big!

It was located at the side of the highway, you won't miss it if you are driving on the MRR2 highway. There is a sign board stating "Awas! Kawasan Permainan Layang-layang" something like that, just keep left and you will find an entrance to the park. The parking is free and I find many locals went there for jogging and enjoy kites.

Is'nt it easy?

There is a big nice lake in the park with jogging track around it. Running 1 round would already make u sweat profusely. The scenery is beautiful, a good place for recreational activity. Right beside the parking, one can see many beautiful and colourful kites hanging nicely along the pathway to be sold. The kites are not that expensive, a normal simple one would cost about RM3,5,7 depending on the size and design.

We bought a RM5 with rainbow colours :) It's big and easy to fly (according to the Tauke) It was windy and many people were on the spacious grassy field. The kites were very nice, got all kinds of cartoons, spiderman, batman, with special design and shape, looks cool! Flying the kite was not as difficult, just leave it on the air opposing the wind, and slowly release it. The wind was strong and it is very easy!

It was a fun place to hang out, can't believe there is such a relaxing recreational place with traditional activity going on. So many cars were parked beside the highway when we were leaving at 5 something. So plan a weekend there to relax your mind and bring back your childhood memory!

A doctor's writing, can u read?

This is the handwriting seen commonly in the ward. Maybe it's not the worse, but can u read it? I had given up after attempting to imagine what are those 'symbols' representing.. finally end up not knowing what happen to the patient. Ask others? i think the person who himself wrote it might not able to read also haha :)

So, practice good handwriting, at least in a readable way.

Been to some places to eat recently, most of them are nice, but sometimes must watch out the price! Let's start from lower price :)

Currently in surgical posting now, rotating under general surgery. Relaxing? not really.. Have to cover ward (sien..), follow clinic, watch surgery in operating theater, go on-call, attend ward rounds (7am in morning!).. wat else? but it's not as stressful as Paeds :p

How to upgrade your Nokia phone?

I am using a Nokia 3120 classic, and i noticed many discussion about upgrading from firmware 7.16 to 9.41. Due to unknown reason (itchy hand), I tried to upgrade it. Thought of doing it long time ago but since I don't have the USB cable until yesterday when it comes with my father new handset.

First you need to have things below:

Nokia phone (Fully charged)
Nokia USB cable CA-101 (Cannot update via bluetooth, memory card etc.)
Stable and fast internet
Nokia software updater (download at http://www.nokia.com.my/A4500249)

Backup all your data in phone! (Menu>Setting>Sync & backup>Create backup)
Save backup file in your memory card or better still in your computer
Install Nokia software updater (NSU)
Connect your phone to computer via usb cable
Choose PC Suite in phone
Load NSU and follow the instruction to complete

Upgrading is quite an easy and simple procedure, but my phone turn out to be 'taiwan-ised' when I noticed I can't type Chinese input in 简体 and pinyin 拼音. Otherwise it was okay. So I want to share my experience here of how to solve it, i think quite useful for other nokia model users also.

I googled around the net and learned that everyone has its own product code (in my case is 0564330), for the same model, it can have many product codes for different regions and countries. This is because with the product code, the NSU will install the relevant softwares including language package for that region. So in order to get the Chinese pinyin input, I found that the product code 0559100 has it. It has the firmware 9.41 also. By changing the product code, the phone should have the required language.

Warning! This is an invasive procedure, any error might cause damage to your phone. If you are using original nokia phone, better go to the authorised service centre to fix it. Although i doubt they will concern about the language thing.

Now you need another software: Nemesis Service Suite (NSS)

Install NSS in your computer
Connect your phone to computer via the same usb cable.
Open NSS, click the top right button 'scan for new device'
Click 'phone info'
Click 'scan' under the action column
Wait for all the details appear (about half a minute)
Click the 'Read' on the right, the Product Code will appear
Replace the previous product code with the new one (that you have found)
Click 'Write'
Close NSS

Now you can update your phone again using NSU, after finish downloading and installing, your phone is up to date!

Comments mentioned there are some upgrades in the video function, otherwise i have not noticed any major changes so far. So do it only after benefits are ascertained :p

小儿科short case

今天终于来到了，等待了好久，小儿科的最后一个星期，考了临床检查(bedside short case)就无忧无虑了。在马大医院各部门中，对大部分学生来说，小儿科是最‘恐怖’的。八个星期的posting不是开玩笑的。。

今天考short case，早上八点半，我七点就跳起来，不知道还有什么没准备好，Developmental assessment背熟了吗？四大系统（呼吸系统，心脏系统，肠胃系统，神经系统）一直在脑袋徘徊，教授会考些什么怪怪的东东吗？小孩不合作怎办？哭了要怎么哄？

又想到不会回答怎办？搞错诊断，弄错finding，又或者miss掉重要finding，到时真的会死到很难看罗。。

没完没了，最后不想再想了，有太多东西担心啦！到时见机行事吧。。

告诉自己，再恐怖的都经历过，去年在Klang时被出名恐怖的教授拿过，还好当时大步难过，虽然今天的老师还好，但她们也是厉害‘洗人’的。

检查了上战场的武器（儿童玩具，用来检查成长进度的），听筒，两支笔（一个给孩子跟住写），Red pin，测量尺等等，就这样出发了。

虽然只是End of posting test，但是大家都很紧张且害怕。。主要是因为儿科讲师吧。有大半人肚子都不舒服(anxiety 啊),有的手脚发冷，还有朋友不停上厕所，像得了糖尿病似的：）

老师特地从名单最后一个开始，我就成了最后那几个。天啊！等待比想象中痛苦噢。。以前考试我都在蛮前面的耶。没办法，等罗。从八点半等到十一点多，朋友一个一个被叫去，在房内等待的越来越少，大家都不出声。

有些人相当镇定，有些坐立不安，有些还在死命的读，这时可看到各人处理压力的表情罗。我一直努力让自己镇定，不要乱了脚，不然肯定不能做好。

好不容易轮到我了。带我去个七八岁男孩前，当时有点开心：因为第一，不需要做成长测验（变数很大，小孩不合作或忘了部分成长里程碑，都是致命的），第二，不需要做newborn assessment，因为我也没真正做过，惭愧！第三，小孩蛮大了，应该相当合作，躺在那边乖乖让我检查就好了。

结果老师没叫我做任何系统检查，只是叫我看。发现他嘴下方有淤血。就这样进行下去，看了整身，其他部位也有点淤血，蛮大片的，还有些很细的红点，但是很少，还好看到。一面问答一面检查，一路排除几个可能性，最后印象是ITP。

如此另类的Short case出乎我的预料，因为通常都做系统性的检查啊。不过过程需要很多思考和检查技术，Short case的目的依然是一样的。其实还有更多特别例子，比如nutritional assessment，还有去年曾经有朋友只是要求检察头部。如果你没feel到fontanelle稍微full（不是bulging这样明显！），就糟糕啦！

所以说short case可以很恐怖，尤其是在明年Final时。到时又有时间限制，10分钟一个病人（包括检查，报告和讨论），连续做三个病人，包含全部部门（内科，外科，骨科，儿科，妇科等），紧张又刺激，医学生的心脏还不错，能承受考前和考时的压力，要不然早心脏病暴发啦。

看完罗，明天回家休息一下吧！下个星期踏入外科罗(surgery)，也是一个不好搞的posting，surgeons脾气都不怎么好，硬着头皮上吧！

Stop searching for ideal unity

Everyone in UM is racist. We sit in the dining hall according to race, even in lecture hall you can see clumps of people arranged according to race. When the students go out for social activities, they do so in groups according to races. When we room, we room according to race.

Then again, even within the race, there are cliques of best friends. You will notice that when people go for class, it is in groups (unless alone). Even when they sit in lecture hall, it is with their best friends (unless alone). Even when they go out to eat/watch movie/what not, it is still with their bloody best friends. But somehow no one faults them for that. Why? - Because everyone has an understanding that you are part of that clique because you share the same interests and beliefs.

My point is, the whole reason why people go around by race in the first place is because they are more comfortable with people with similar culture and background, just as each race has subgroups with people arranging themselves with people they like, who have the same/complementing personalities, beliefs and goals.

So what is the big deal with division of the races within campus?

People can see that the lecture hall is divided into races, but does no one care to see that we are all in the same lecture hall? Does no one care to see that we sit in the same dining hall and eat in peace without fuss at why another race is sharing the place? And does no one realize we go to class and interact well without getting at each other’s throats everyday?

What we need is a different perspective on unity and racism. Everyone’s talking about unity as if they expect everyone to gel in together as a homogenous mix of people. But in order to have a homogenous mix of people, you need everyone to be (most importantly) of a single culture and a single language. But how are you going to do that when people insist on keeping to (and only to) their own language and culture? I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing. What I’m trying to say is this – If you expect to stick to your own language and culture for most of the things you do (which is natural because we are all most comfortable with the way we were brought up – I repeat, I’m not saying it’s bad), don’t expect an ideal, unrealistic form of unity! Just be thankful we are all here, in the same place coexisting harmoniously, albeit within our own subgroups and race or whatever!

(Note: For those who would like to rebut and do see a group of people of different races hanging out, as in REALLY going out together often, eating and watching movies together, stop and observe – don’t you think they share the same language, culture and mindset? Even groups of mixed races do go out once in a while which I feel is overlooked a lot of the time, because it’s “only” once in a while, which makes it sound more trivial than its significance)

In conclusion, we are only racist because we have a strict definition of the word, blindly adhering to it without taking into account the factors I have mentioned above. I think we should stop sticking to the perfect idea of unity, taking into account how much we love to adhere to our own native languages and cultures, and take on a new concept of unity – living together with respect, in a friendly atmosphere without intentionally condemning or harming each other. Isn’t that unity in itself?

Cheras Pasar Malam 臭豆腐

Went to Cheras pasar malam on Wednesday, a place where was once known to be the longest night market in Malaysia. This is my 2nd time there, since ss2 pasar malam nearby is more than enough for me :) However, there are something more special about this place!

Chau dau fu (臭豆腐), a famous stall here selling this 'smelly' dau fu is the main reason why people travel far to come here. One has to queue long for about 20+ ppl in front of you, but it's worth! The chau dau fu has a bad smell from far (especially when queuing), but when eating it, it is crunchy, only a bit smelly, and in fact taste quite nice, hehe! Although some of u might disagree with me..

There are so many more of delicious food here.. but i have not tried them mostly. Strong recommendation from friends!

Very crowded..will be sweating even in open space, so wear short pants there :p

这两个星期是Final year学长的大考，这场仗就快要结束了，看见seniors那又紧张又期待的心情，感觉好羡慕哦！过了这关，宣誓礼后，你就是马来亚大学MBBS医学系毕业的医生了，没有人会再质疑你的身份，不再像我们这些Medical students在医院内给病人推三推四，将信将疑的眼神。

这场仗现在看起来容易，转眼就过去了，但背后的心血可不是一朝一夕的。五年的寒窗苦读，为的就是这一刻。好几个月前学长们很多都已经闭门修炼。人家在外看戏，你在读书。人家放长假回家，你还是在宿舍读书。人家在吃Tenji Sushi，你在宿舍打包回房吃。人家在外唱K，你只能在房间听听歌。人家在外到处旅游，游山玩水，你最多周末出去附近走走。。

一年只有农历新年和开斋节假期，其他都是non-stop的。。

或许这不只是他们，而是进入这科系的，一生都是这样忙碌。难道想要成为医生帮助别人，就一定要牺牲自己？每天为病人担忧，那谁来关心你呢？医疗的宗旨，不就是提升Quality of life，那医生的良好生活素质呢？提醒病人早睡早起，足够睡眠，多做运动，自己却晚上没得睡，迟睡早醒，运动或许只是在医院爬楼梯吧！

这些问题好多人都讨论过，报章也看多了，情况是有改善的了。

"You have one life, do something"

Hitz FM常听到这句话，其实说得很对。人生最重要就是活得开心充实，所以热衷你喜欢的，同时别忽略身边亲爱的，同时也为大众服务，合理的牺牲是理所当然的。

明年今日，就轮到我们了，是怎样的心情呢？

毕业了，就是人生的另一个旅程，要面对更多的挑战。学长们，祝你们将来都能实现自己的梦想，把这颗炽热的心继续奋斗，也为我们UM MBBS争一口气！

Btw,考完试放大假耶，到处去游玩去见识吧！也让自己好好休息一下。

玩火自焚

昨天多手罗，去下载Partition Magic来试试，结果整个Drive D不见掉！其实是因为我的C Drive不够位置了，一直出现Low disk space，我用着的是旧型的IDE Hard Disk，所以买新的不值得，再加上我也没用这样多，一买就整两三百GB,超浪费的！一直都用着40GB所以也惯了，要时常“清理门户”罗！

想到个办法，将现有的Drive D清理下，然后把多余的位置让给Drive C，听说Partition Magic可以做到，就放手试了。才刚开始执行，发觉要很多时间，再过一阵姑姑车就要来，想想早停好过迟，就把任务中断。Restart后发现Drive D不见了，还以为照片都抄进家里电脑，以为还好，突然想到里面还有许多重要文件！糟了怎办？

还好Windows仍然能运作，回来KL后就一直试，用了好几种软件，有些看到了失去的文件，但就是Retrieve不到。原本的Drive D已经变成PqRP，partition magic的种类，Windows是无法读取的。在网上看了好多建议，但还是不行。直到深夜，在友人的协助下，终于有个软件能顺利将文件读取出来，谢天谢地啦！要不然我又要从打Case summary，不过也写没两面，但省了很多麻烦罗！

再次感谢友人哦！我也成功把Partition弄好了。学到的教训是：不要随便更改partition！一定要做好backup才可乱来：）

SkyTrex - A physical and mental challenge! Don't miss it!

Yesterday almost 30 of us went to SkyTrex, a flying fox challenge in Taman Pertanian Shah Alam. It's fun to go with lots of friends, coz we were dominating the place! Haha! Situated not far from University Malaya, about 20-30 minutes drive (if no traffic jam), SkyTrex is worth for a visit. RM35 for adult, if more than 10 ppl can get 10% discount. Besides, one can go around the big taman to visit the other places.

Free shuttle bus service in the Taman Pertanian. It's open air~

It's a challenge of physical fitness & toughness, overcome the fear of height, go thru the challenge successfully, and enjoy the game! It's about 1 hour plus for the whole process, providing you are the first timer and no ppl 'taffic jam' in front of u :p

Doing preparation, wondering how to wear the stuff? ask Tatt, he will show u just simple like this!

I would say it's very safe, although we were hanging more than 20m (4-5th floor) above the ground, coz we were checked for the equipments, and had a briefing before start. The guy explain everything and everyone of us had to go thru a smaller challenge to know the correct step. Basically we had a roller to put on the rope, a primary hanger to attach on it, and another rescue hanger to lock on rope. So everytime when moving from a place to another, there will be at least a safety lock on u.

But anyhow, if u happen to detach both of them from u, there is absolutely no place to hold in the platform, falling down from 5 storey height is not joking :p The challenge was not as easy as thought, climbing 5 storey height on a 90 degree stair was not easy even for a fit guy in one shot. Some of the challenges were not easily done, if you cant make it, there will always an alternative (coz you are on safety attachment, also a 'chicken exit' for those who fail to move on).

Anyway, all of us manage to get thru these, and had a fun time there! We still able to take many photos on such height, risking the camera just to take down the valuable moments!

I forgot since when I started to have the feel to submit some 'creative' photos to The Star for the thumbnail competition. Why? simply because the winner can get RM50! Taking note of some interesting stuffs around me is my special skill. (not to say i'm ke poh lar :p)

Each day 5 photos will be selected and one of it will be the winner. It isnt that difficult to get your photo selected, coz I submitted 4 photos so far, and 3 of them were published! But sadly.. none of them was the winner :(

This is my first published photo which was taken when I was in Klang doing practical (around early 2008). My friends and I were on the way to Kuala Selangor to see the 'kelip-kelip' and eat seafood. The car was hanging there after an accident. Since I was holding a camera (prepared for the kelip-kelip), I zoomed and snapped the picture. I am lazy to find back the link from The Star coz it was so loong already..

There was another photo submitted after this, but it was a bit sensored because it involved bugs doing something sensitive. I think that's the main reason it was not selected. I couldn't find it in my laptop to share it here. But I think it is the most difficult shot to take among the four. I will post it when i found it :)

Second published picture (5/2/2009). I was in the bus no.12 heading towards University Hospital when the bus engine started to burn. We ran down after shouting from the driver. It was lucky that all passengers were safe in the event.

搭渡轮回家真好！

新年后都没有回到家，五个星期过去了，对有些朋友可能根本不是什么，对有些人可就好久罗！我觉得呢？还好吧！自从在吉打念matric开始就习惯在外过生活了。但是有一样东西始终不变，就是那美好的回家旅途：）

想起以前要从Changlung（靠近泰国边界）搭kereta sapu到Jitra，因为那边才有长途巴士站。还记得每次都乘搭Transnational，十五分钟一辆non-stop，不选它还选谁？

到了北海码头，家乡的气味就浓厚罗！看着海洋对面那美丽的岛屿，有山有海有高楼大厦，一个充满生气，热情，没KL这样紧凑的城市，Penang我回来啦！

昨天傍晚拍下的，好可爱的一朵云，像什么呢？

昨天乘搭友人的车从KL回来，然后搭渡轮过海哦。渡轮服务已起价RM1.20一段时间，服务有进步了。等待的座位是全新的，像NBA篮球场旁黑人坐的那种，好大张哦！船也没以前等的这样久，有布条写着他们获得什么ISO认可的耶。

熟悉的Ferry，有人选择坐，也有人从头站到尾，欣赏“无敌海景”啊！

我常光临的面包档，满好吃的，价钱合理，通常到这时又是肚子打鼓的时间，不用考虑啦。

可能最近在儿科部门压力大，有得回家松懈一下，感觉又充满活力了。只可惜每次回家，我的老朋友+好朋友都不在，很难跟他们timing的啦，一个在东一个在西，乖乖在家罗!

Jom Futsal!

We did not have another indoor futsal game since the last time played during Klang time, which was one year ago d..

So, it's time to gather everyone to have fun!

15 of us, from boys to girls, from white to dark skin (ronie lolz) went there in the morning. Surprisingly, we were the first team who arrived. KL ppl really wakes up late..

There are 4 big courts and 2 small one. It is well maintained with nice artificial grassy carpet. The building is high and open-air at all sides, so it is cool even in the afternoon. Student price is available at daytime, even on sat n sun, at RM40 for small court while RM50 for the larger one.

It's situated right beside Summit Shopping Mall, not hard to look for it.

There was a furniture shop beside it too. Large parking space which is free.

Nice court with good carpet, safe for children too!

It's nice to play indoor futsal once in a while coz we can shoot as many as we can! The passion of scoring a goal is different from playing in college's court where one has to search for the ball when it flies over the fence :p

We played for 2 hours.. kinda tired but it was great!

Tiring Paeds Posting..

I am in paediatric posting now for 2 days, and it was full of work and stress. My group was assigned to paediatric ward 1, which is the intensive care unit. Besides have to cover the bed in the ward, we still need to clerk more patients to present. Some more there are tutorials, lectures and on calls..

Just came back from on-call, where have to follow the round at 4.30pm till dinner time, then another round starting at 8pm. Students have to cover the new admission before 8pm and presented to the lecturer during the round.

Some more i like know nothing although went through paediatric in klang for 2 months.. everything seems so difficult and not as easy as i thought. I had been alerting from early morning till late night, luckily i had a sleep in afternoon, coz tuesday got lecture which allowed us to disappear from the ward, for few hours.

Having a bit flu now, must take care of health in order to keep fighting on. Paeds is known to be the busiest n stress-est posting. I wish to look at it differently, and i will work twice or even trice harder, to conquer my first major posting!

Batu Caves - A visit

Today was a tiring but meaningful day, because I have visited to FRIM and Batu Caves! It was organized by my friend TC, special thanks to him again. This was my second time to FRIM, so took the canopy walk again :p

Batu Caves was my first time there. It was a sunny hot day, but we were still inspired to move on after lunch. It is just minutes away from FRIM, if coming from KL via LDP, it is about 15-20 minutes if no jam AT ALL. hehe!

From outside can see a huge statue in bright golden colour, very impressive!

The long and steep stairs is the challenge, but wont be a problem for normal person.
About 270 steps which labeled there :)

Huge Ovarian CA from theatre 卵巢肿瘤-手术室

A major surgery in operating theatre (OT) for gyne was done few days ago. The patient is a chinese lady in 40's, noted abdominal swelling 3 months ago.

Never see a huge tumour? this is the process of removal of tumour mass in OT. This is a major surgery which may have severe blood loss and complications.

After opening the abdomen, a huge ovarian mass was found

The plan was as follow:

TAHBSO (Total abdominal hysterectomy and salpingo-ophorectomy) - Remove the uterus and both ovaries and fallopian tubes, together with the tumour.

Appendectomy, omentectomy and lymph nodes clearance. - Remove the appendix, the omentum (the 'policeman' which attached to intestine) and the lymph nodes around the pelvis. This is to prevent spread of the cancer.

Omentectomy was in process. The 'pen' holding is diathermy to burn n cut open the tissues.

The uterus, tubes and ovaries were removed. Note the huge ovarian mass on the left. It had both solid and cystic component, suggestive of malignant carcinoma.

Weekend walk-away to Cameron and Pangkor!

It is so hot in these days in KL, it would be nice to walk away from this sauna city to a natural, beautiful with cool and fresh air place, the cameron highlands. Moreover it was Valentine's Day on last saturday, can buy nice and fresh flowers there at much cheaper price. I went there before several times, but it was long long time ago.

Bharat Tea Plantation

4 of us went there by car and stayed in guest house. The air was cold and refreshing! But the sun was still strong and burning in the afternoon, luckily we brought enough umbrella to walk around. We tried some food there and they were generally nice, including western food in T-Cafe, Nyonya food in Ferm restaurant, Steamboat in Hong Kong Restaurant and other local food in coffee shops. They were nice and not as expensive as i thought, they were more or less the same price in KL.

It was a nice trip, cameron highland worth for a visit. Never been there before? It's time for cuti-cuti Malaysia! It's best to drive there, then u can have more freedom to go around. Btw, the old road was really pening and difficult to drive, slow and long. If you are going from north eg Penang, use the new road from simpang pulai. We took the old road from Tapah coz from KL.

Ong Bak 2 & 海角七号 Cape No.7

Recently i watched some movies and would like to share here:

1. Ong Bak 2 - Although I did not watch the first episode, i decided to watch after much good recommendations from friends. The movie was nice, with variety of cool martial art, Thai's culture and history. Thumb's up! Dun miss it, if u like action movie, worth to watch in theatre for best effect.

2. 海角七号 Cape No.7 - A famous movie from Taiwan, it's not new and i got it from other :) The first part was kinda boring, but it became more n more interesting after that. It is a nice romantic movie, with great scenery (that's why putting the pic on top hehe) and lovely songs. Despite that, it's meaningful also :p.

I'm going for a trip with my dear n friends at Cameron Highlands and Pangkor island on tomorrow till Sunday. Hopefully it will be a nice and memorable trip. Still having a bit URTI, 'bottom-less' running nose now lolz, not sure what will happen in the cold weather of Cameron Highlands.

Will share some photos n stories here when i back :) I never go to Pankor before, i'm going to one more place in my cuti-cuti Malaysia list :p

坐落在SS2附近，不知叫Section几了，明天饮食中心，一个很大很多东西吃的地方！来过几次了，太多档了，每次都尝试不同的食物，专找些特别点的来try。

Heard friends said it was once a shooting place for a movie called '己子当归'. That's why it became very popular and famous.

前两天回来KL时搭巴士，Metrobus 的 12 号巴士要回马大医院。上桥时听到有点怪怪的声音，还以为是哪个乘客在搞怪，怎知巴士后面引擎突然发出很响的吵声，司机赶紧把巴士紧急停在路旁，并喊"Turun!Semua turun sekarang!"

大家都吓倒啦，争先恐后要挤出车门，车后冒出浓浓的烟，好像随时会爆炸！好恐怖啊，我又挤在后面，那时感觉生命是脆弱的，一旦发生灾难真是不堪设想。

还好大家都顺利跑到路边，离得巴士远远的，车后冒出的烟掩盖了整条路，后面的车在不知前面发生什么情况下也不敢前进。

巴士引擎似乎不能关掉，引擎吵杂声一直响着。车坏在马大KL门附近，我懒得等下辆来打救，就走路回啦！身上大包小包的都是新年食物，好重哦！走着走着又下起雨啦，没办法只好冒着雨走上斜坡，好累。。还好朋友车经过，载我一程。

无论如何，能逃过一劫，已经感到很庆幸，没人知道那巴士接下来会发生什么事啊！走得好好的竟然会这样，是不是没定期检查？唉，没事就好！
