On to the frustration part, I cannot figure out how to get my new beautiful watermark on my pictures in photoshop CS5. Well actually all of CS5 is frustrating me, I have never had such a hard time getting anything accomplished in my life, I guess I should stick with picassa and picnik!

{one} I just finished up the most amazing wedding photography workshop yesterday. CreativeLive hosted a 5 day workshop with the uber fabulous Jasmine* and to top it off it was FREE. Check out her website, I have never seen a more beautiful site, I spent way to much time looking at it! Jasmine * was completely transparent about every aspect of her business from branding your company to what settings and lenses to use!

You can purchase the video from all 5 days for $150 and believe me it is more than worth it. She has inspired me so much I cannot wait to put everything that I have learned to work!

{I need to say a special thank you to my husband for dealing with me being glued to the computer for the past five days, thanks hun!}

{Two} Here is a sneak of a post I hope to get done later today. I shot these sweet siblings a couple of weeks ago in downtown Rocky Mount.

{three} Notice my new logo? After searching and searching for one I found this one on Etsy designed by Natasha. I will premiere {ha} the watermark in the next post.

{four} so part of the workshop was to pick 3 words that describe your photography/business. After changing them a million times I have decided on vibrant, fun, & fresh.

{five} The past two months I have been studying every aspect of photography and really trying to just take it all in and practice, practice, and practice some more. I felt like things were happening fast and I needed to take a step back and really find myself in my photography. Yes, I know it sounds super cheesy! Their will be alot of new photos and a few surprises in the future and I could not be more excited.

That's all the randomness I have for today, well I guess it wasn't too random it was all about the same thing, oh well!

This is my husband and ~~bab~~y big girl at a local news studio in front of a water fountain, so there is a bit of mist showing in the picture. We had such a great day that day and seeing this picture takes me back to that very moment!

Is this the winning photo, no probably not, BUT, does is make me smile when I see it, yes for sure!

Budget friendly, Yummy recipes!

Last week after having my husband very..... hmm.... whats the word.....carefully, yeah I'll stick with that, tell me that he was tired of eating the same things for dinner I went on a hunt for some new recipes.

He most likely said this because for the past four months I have been cooking the same five recipes and having a lot of "whatever" nights.

So where do I go when I need to solve my marital woes, whatever they may be, the internet of course!

After looking through countless recipes that required fancy oils and/or fifty million different ingredients that I do not have, I believe I hit the jackpot with this collection of budget friendly, yummy, and simple to make dinners.

When I saw a gallery of recipes titled "15 dinners under $1.50" {a serving} I let out a little squeal.

I did not say these are low calorie recipes, BUT you can cut down on the bad stuff significantly by using low fat or fat free options for a lot of stuff. I also added more fresh veggies to recipes like the Almost Lasagna {that has been my fave so far} I also used whole wheat pasta in that.

Of course being the ~~great~~ bad blogger that I am {ha} I forgot to provide you with a Pioneer Woman style, step-by-step, perfected, photo recipe tutorial.{Whoa, that was a mouthful} Sorry ladies, I am sure you are very upset with me.

Any ways so far I have made the, almost lasagna, salmon cakes, Asian lettuce wraps, the creamy chicken and rotini primavera, and the cheeseburger pie. {which was surprisingly good}

Now ladies will you do me a favor before you go?

Miscellany Monday!

Another week has come and gone and once again it is time to link up with Carissa at lowercase letters

{one}I have been getting a lot of the below attitude from my 23 month old lately. Now I knew I would be dealing with it and about 12 more years but not now. I mean could she roll those eyes at me any more, I don't think so. We were playing dress up if you can't tell.

{two} We had such a nice family weekend! We stuck around the house most of the day Saturday except for going to the park to let Madison run out some of her never ending energy.

{three} So yeah, I'm not that misc. this week, It's all about my weekend spending time with my little family. On Sunday, we went to the NC museum of natural sciences downtown Madison loves it and it is free. They have a butterfly house that you can go in, with hundreds of butterflies flying all around and a sloth (that is always sleeping).

{four} Worm update: After a major home upgrade, a child constantly wanting to shake them in their new home and kiss the "cutey" ear worms, they have been released to the wild. (Thank God)

{two} what's the furthest you've ever travelled?

Las Vegas, about five years ago. My uncle, aunt, and cousin had relocated their {he worked on Nellis Air Force Base} I spent a fabulous week their, but came home with serious sun poisoning on my chest, NOT FUN!

{three} what's your guilty pleasure TV show?

All of the Real Housewives shows on Bravo..........I even have my husband watching them {and enjoying it} Shhhhhh don't tell!

{four} if you had to give up one favorite food, what would be the hardest?

Feta Cheese, Love it!

{five} if you could become any fictional character, who would you be?

Hmmmm, this is a toughie.... Princess Tiana {Princess and the Frog} at the end of the movie, owning a fab restaurant, and in love! Lame I know.

{six} what's your favorite season of the year?

It used to be summer, but now I love the beauty of the the changing of colors in the fall. When I think about fall, the first things that come to my mind are coffee, pumpkin pie, and just a sense of peace.

{seven} what's your biggest phobia?

Drowning, I use to have the same dream that I was drowning in the middle of the ocean and that fear has just stuck with me.

{eight} would you rather swim in a pool or the ocean?

Pool for sure!

{nine} what did you eat for breakfast today?

Cup of coffee with skinny latte creamer {alot} and a Cinnamon raisin English muffin with that new buttery spread from Bob Green called best life. YUM!

Ingrid Michaelson, everybody. I love anything she sings, her music is fabulous, simple, clean, relaxing, I will stop but I could go on and on!

3 New Pets- Ella, Nella, & Bella

So last night while I was shucking {love that word} nice freshly picked corn to go along with our not so nice dinner of hot dogs, we added three new members to our little family. Meet Ella, Nella and Bella...

Aren't they beautiful, that is what my daughter thinks! She says they are so "cutey" {her newest word} Growing up around my families farm, they were called earworms or corn earworms, but I am not sure what their real name is, guess I should google them and find out more. I will be sure to update you on any exciting earworm information!

I do know this, they are one of the most hated insects among corn farmers.

Tigger is very jealous can't you tell! She followed me onto the patio while I took pictures of them and she has knocked the jar off of a table already, luckily they survived! ;)

I promise I have a more exciting post for tomorrow!

*the worms will be getting a new bigger better home today!

Miscellany Monday

Once again it's time for Miscellany Monday, always my favorite post of the week, because well..... I'm a pretty random gal! Link up with Carissa too!

1. I had one amazing weekend with my husband. Madison stayed with my mom and step dad and rode on the boat at the lake all day. The girl loves riding on the boat, but she always falls asleep, haha.

2. Eric and I were planning on going to a downtown festival but when I got out of the shower he asked if I wanted to go to Wilmington {the beach} so of course I said okay. We went and toured the North Carolina battleship, it was amazing in so many ways. We stayed their for almost 3 hours. I learned so much and have even more respect for all of our service men and women. I recommend going if you are ever able, I would not bring any children under 4 because there is so much steep climbing and so many tight and dangerous spaces.

After that we rode around downtown and then went on the search for a seafood restaurant but after riding and riding we ended up eating at On the Border, we can always eat Mexican! yummy!

3. We ended up finding an inexpensive hotel and staying the night after picking up the best coffee we have ever had. It was so relaxing and we slept until 8:30!

4. I have got to organize things around my house. I keep halfway organizing stuff, but in the end I throw junk mail and other randoms in drawers and after about a month of chucking I cant find anything. I really need to setup a good system for mail and papers!

5. Potty training started today for reals!! Madi keeps sleeping through naps and even through the night without wetting her diaper, so it is time. This morning she woke up with a dry diaper and after 15 minutes of sitting on the potty reading books, singing, and playing with rocks from a candle scape in the bathroom she went and almost overflowed her little potty. Well 5 minutes later she comes running out of my room peeing the whole way across the house trying to make it to her potty. I would have never guessed she would have to go more! So I happily cleaned up a trail of pee! I am so proud of my little Madi bean!

Two posts in two days, get out of town!

We all have those days where we feel sorry for ourselves and think about nothing but what we DO NOT have and whine over why life isn't fair.

Well, I know I do anyways!

I had one of those days last Friday, and Saturday if you want me to be honest. This happened and That and some more of That happened and I was just in a bad mood and feeling like life sucked quite frankly. But then when I got on the computer late Saturday and uploaded some pictures that I took recently of my little family I realized that these little moments that seemed so insignificant at the time, just like every other day doing what at times seems so mundane it really hit me and put it all in perspective.

I really need to soak up the time I spend drawing octopuses with sidewalk chalk with my healthy, smart, and sweet daughter and my beautiful twelve year old cat too. I need to take in take in those walks that we take every day around our apartments, and the little treasures Madi is sure to find and give me. I need to appreciate that my husband is a wonderful loving father and a supportive husband to me , because there are lots of fathers that are nothing like him, especially twenty one year old fathers.

Not that I have not appreciated these things, its just that sometimes life gets in the way of how truly blessed I am. No scratch that, I Let life get in the way of how truly blessed I am.

I use to hear this dreadful negative phrase all of the time growing up, "life sucks and then you die." I think that is the crappiest saying, because you are doing nothing but setting yourself up for an unhappy and most likely unsuccessful life. I want to be on this earth for a long time and so I am going to do my very, very best to live life to the fullest each and every day. I am going to work hard to be a positive, appreciative, giving, helpful, loving woman, and daughter of our wonderful God.

MIscellany Monday

It's that time again, everyone ready for some more random musings!

1. Why is that I always run out of every beauty and bath product I use at the same time! Why are they all so darn expensive? I guess I will just do without, except for the shampoo and conditioner, oh and maybe I should "splurge" and get some deodorant, ha, I think my husband would be okay with that.

2. My hubby is comes in from checking the mail on Saturday and tells me not to squeal every time I turn the page of my new mini boden magazine. Go take a look at their too cute autumn/fall clothes! I love everything! Be sure to check out the clothes for you and your man too, they are just as fabulous! I must say the prices are not so fabulous, but hey a girl can dream of having nothing but boden in her closet, right ?!

Here are few of my faves for Madison, love this knit owl dress, this bold birdie dress is to die for especially with cute tights and a cardigan, and this gray peacoat at to me a very reasonable price of $40 would go with everthing.

3. While typing number 1, I figured out where the poo smell my husband and I have been trying to "smell out" all weekend is coming from. My daughter must have spilled her milk in between 2 couch cushions, lovely.

4. I am addicted to gum, especially orbit sweet mint. Some people have to smoke when they get in their car, I must immediately insert a piece of gum into my mouth. Weird I know, but that would not be the first time I've been called that.

5. Lastly, if I never saw an ant again, it would still be too soon. Every time I think they are out of my kitchen and bathroom I see them again. Madison will now squish them and say "look mommy I squish it" , lets me just say I am not proud of that, but I guess after seeing me killing them time and time again she picked up on it, oh well.

Ten on Tuesday

I cannot remember where I saw my first ten on Tuesday post, but I surely did not come up it. Since once again I forgot to link up to micellany monday yesterday I decided I'd do this today.

Here it goes...

I am soooo excited I have a new pair of running shoes, they are wonderful! I went running last night with them and I swear it felt like I was floating. I have super high arches and really needed shoes with more support. I got these shoes and these insoles. Lets hope these babies keep me as motivated to run as I was last night.
I have been taking pictures of everything lately. I bring my camera with me EVERYWHERE now, I have captured so many special moments. I just need to take the time and go through and edit and delete and SHARE them. I think I am going to copy Meg from whatever and do some all picture posts, love those.
We were planning on having Madis 2nd birthday at the "party room" at our apartments. I was very excited because it is right off of the pool, has a nice kitchenette, is right at our apt. and where we live is in the "middle" of all of our family in the state. BUT, when I went to the office to reserve it she told me that the old policy of just giving them a $200 check and they give it back to you if nothing is damaged has now changed to a $200 deposit AND a $200 fee! What!?! I have been searching and searching for a place to have it that does not cost more to rent than what I wanted to spent on the entire party. I am so frustrated and now Eric and I are now leaning toward not having a party and just taking a little trip somewhere just us three for a weekend.
I got Madi an Ariel {The little Mermaid} nightgown on clearance last week and now she is in love with "aral". So yesterday at the mall her papa and nana got her a Ariel doll from the Disney store {aka the childhood paradise}. She did not let go of her all night, she ate with her , told her a million times " I love you Aral" and slept with her. The only problem, Disney does not have the movie out right now and I cant find it anywhere. If anyone knows where you can buy a DVD please let me know.
Okay so I'm going to cheat a little and add some pictures from the past few weeks to finish off my 10 on Tuesday.

One more picture.......... Our new car! Eric's 92' Mitsubishi mirage finally broke down for good this time, I like to call it "the cockroach" haha, it seriously looks like one. He is now driving my car so I get the new car with all of the fancy features like LATCH which I am very happy about, I feel so much safer with Madi in the car now. After many test drives and weighing pros and cons we went with a 2010 Toyota Rav-4, it is has a lot of room {to us anyways}, but I feel comfortable driving it, I did not want a really big car since I have only driven small cars. One more plus, it is actually pretty darn good on gas.

A New Look!

I have made a lot of changes around here! I was in the process of designing a separate Photography website, but I decided (half way through) that I was going to just use this blog as my site for the time being. I would rather wait to have a professional design a great website for me, instead of me never being happy with what I ~~cannot~~ can do. So click around and if you have problems with anything or have any suggestions please shoot me an email.

I must say I am so glad today is Friday and my husband will be home this weekend, the terrible twos are here And we are working on potty training. Although I have been repeatedly telling myself to keep calm, that potty training takes time, lots of accidents, and patience on my part, it has really been stressing me out. This weekend I plan on working on my patience or lack there of.

Miscellany Monday

Well it is Monday again folks! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend, ours was pretty darn good! Here goes my miscellany......

Carissa who hosts miscellany Monday just had the most beautiful baby girl and she still made time to post today AND right after her daughter was born all from the comfort from her hospital room........ummmm.....can you say SUPERWOMAN!!! (go visit her and take a look the photos of her and you will really be saying shes superwoman, she is beautiful! )
My little brother is graduating from High school! I am so proud of him ,he is such a great young man. Where has time gone it seems like just yesterday we were playing with my babydolls together (haha)

3. This morning Eric found Madison asleep on the couch! The past couple of weeks she has been sleeping on her floor, of half way off her toddler bed, or beside our bed on top of the million pillows that go on our bed when it is made up (which it rarely is), and now on the couch. I know it is nothing to "worry" about but Eric and I both agree it's pretty stange or shall we say unique.

4. I went to a great FREE photography workshop on Satuday, I learned so many little tips and tricks. It was put together by the organizer from one of the local photography groups that I am a member of. It was great to be surrounded by so many people with the same passion for photography as me, and to be honest being able to have an adult conversation without Madison was a much needed break. I came home feeling refreshed and ready to play with my wild girl, who by the way did not miss mommy one bit! She always enjoys her alone time with daddy.

Memorial Day and a new start!

Well hi there to friends old and new, I have been really neglecting this blog these past few ~~weeks~~ months. But that is in the past and I am going to post at least 2 times a week! (if I don't you have permission to leave mean comments) I have been spending to much time reading everyone else's fabulous blogs and not doing anything on mine!

So without farther ado here are some pictues from Memorial Day...

We went to our friends Emily and Tim's to celebrate Memorial Day this year. Let me start by saying Madison L-O-V-E-S "Eme" and Tim. So being the great hosts they are they let us turn their backyard into a swamp AND made Madi love them even more.

We stole the play set from their neighbors (like we do every time we come over) and hooked up a sprinkler, also from their wonderful neighbors, and the girl was in heaven!

She played and laughed and smiled the entire time!

Poor Eric did this about a million times Madi kept saying "again daddy, again"

What is Memorial Day without great food?! Emily and Tim always make the best hamburgers, I don't know what they mix in with the hamburger but they are always excellent, it might have something to do with cooking them on a charcoal grill instead of gas.

Aside from the great fun and food that goes along with Memorial day, we did not forget all of the men and women who have gave their life for this country, one in particular, Eric's best friend and also a friend to me, CPL. Ryan Russell, he was KIA by an IUD in Iraq on March 5, 2007. I will never forget that dreadful day and the phone call I received from my husband in tears telling me he had died. Ryan is truly and american hero, he saved many lives while serving in Iraq as a combat medic and had just reenlisted that January for another five years where he was planning to work at Walter Reed Medical Center. I must also say Ryan was and still is the funniest person I have ever met, he could crack anyone up!

Better Late than never- Miscellany Monday

So I meant to post yesterday (obviously) and link up to Carissa over at lowercase letters for miscellany Monday! If you have never visited her blog, please do me and you both a favor and click on over, she is fabulous, funny, and the cutest prego lady ever! I am very jealous!

So here goes my random babbling....

1. My daughter is growing up Waaay to fast, this past month she has learned so many new words and is putting them together and making some pretty incredible sentences. She is also counting to 13, why 13 you ask, I have no idea, it’s strange. My personal favorite thing she does is sing a few songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Old Macdonald, and The Wheels on the Bus (she does the little hand movements too) I love her so much and I must a admit I have had a few good crying spells because these past 20 months with her have just flown by. I am excited she is growing up and I love all of the I love yous and hugs and kisses, they mean so much to me.

There are some downsides to this age, let’s just say the terrible twos have came a bit early, but we will get through the lovely throw yourself on the floor temper tantrums and screaming in Wal-Mart over wanting to eat a banana, sometime or another, hopefully sooner than later.

3. If you ever see me I will sunglasses on, either over my eyes, or pulled up like a hair band, they are permanently attached to my head.

4. I am working on my new photography website, hopefully everything will be up and running in the next month. It has been way more time consuming than I had originally thought, but I think it will be worth it in the end.

I heart faces entry- celebrating moms

So, I have been reading I heart faces blog for a long time now and admiring all of the absolutely amazing entries they receive week after week. I have NEVER entered though, but today I am because I love this picture of my 2nd cousin and her adorable little man! I am so glad that I caught her in the background of this picture, I love the pure joy she is exuding watching her little man goofing around. I do not expect to win but I just had to enter this one! I was laying on those rocks by the way, not so comfortable, but it was worth it!

My husband treated me to a day of relaxation, no laundry, a trip to Anna's Linens, nice quiet time, no cleaning up cat puke, no changing the cat litter, no dishes, and a wonderful dinner for mothers day/ our 2nd wedding anniversary which is today! I can not believe we have been married for two years, it seems like just yesterday we were saying our wedding vows! I must say though I think that I love him more now that ever, seeing him be such a wonderful father takes my love for him to a whole new level!

I hope all of you moms had a fantastic Mother's Day!

Four Facts for Planting Chums

I found out about Planting chums while I was reading Carissas blog, check her out shes simply lovely. Hopefully I will win one of the fabulous giveways! I have my eye on the necklaces, I am in desperate need of some cute jewelry to liven up my wardrope of nothing but solid colored shirts.

Alright so here are 4 random facts about me!

1. I got a cavity filled this week and didn't get numbed up! I bragged to everyone for the rest of the day like I had just accomplished some major thing, haha not really! The dentist said that it wasn't a bad one and so he thought I would probably be okay without those stinkin' shots that numb half of my face for 3 or 4 hours. I am so glad I stuck it out, it never really "hurt" it was just a really cold sensation. Plus it saved us some money.

2. I have been running 5 days a week for a month and a half now, I can tell that I have lost weight by the way my clothes fit but I still have not bought a scale, haha!

3. I accidentally scratched Madison's face this morning, I reached over to grab a bottle of cleaner from her and she jerked away and my fingernail scratched her little cheek. I cried with her I felt so bad!

4. I have been drinking a smoothie every morning for the past week that consists of, 2 handfuls of spinach, strawberries and/or blueberries, a few ice cubes and orange juice. It is suprisingly good and it keeps me filled until lunch.

Last weekend I FINALLY took some pictures of Madi!

I have been busy taking everyone elses pictures (more on that later) and my pitiful sweet girl hadn't been inside my camera for a while.

So with some help from my lovely assistant Eric(he hates when I call him my assistant, so I do it all of the time...haha), Madison took a little trip in her wagon to a nicely lit area at our apartments so I could shoot away.

You see I had this whole "vision" of her in a cute outfit and bubbles all around, but unfortunatley the big thing of bubbles I bought were spilled and what did they happen to spill on Madis cute outfit.

Just part of everday life with an almost 20 month old little angel...hehe!

Everything worked out in the end, she still looked cute (of course) and I got some cute pictures of her with just a few bubbles lol. Here are a few of my favorites.

her hair is getting more red the more she is in the sun. It is so fine and curly, which is funny because Eric has the worlds thickest hair and my hair is pretty thick too, but not like it used to be thanks to getting pregnant and the weird changes that come along with that like loosing the wave that you thought you hated in your hair but now you would kill to get that nice bounce back.

Maybe this is just me ?!

Here are a few things that I am loving right now, along with the beautiful weather that we have been having!

Simply Rasberry Lemonade- Madi loves this stuff and so do I! They make really good popsicles as well.

I got the Crate & Barrel catalog in the mail and on the cover was this adorable lemonade stand and glasses. But heres the thing, I am not paying $50 for the stand so I have been searching like crazy for a similar one for a better price.

Why, you may ask, for Madison's birthday, which is in September, hah!

Hey, there is nothing wrong with an early start! Right??

Alright, enough about lemons.....

I am also looking for a couple of cute cupcake stands for Madison's birthday. I think that I am going to buy 2 of these. I like the wymsical look of them.

Starbucks coffee- This is how Eric and I start off every morning, if we haven't watch out , because without our cup of morning joe, lets just say we are not the friendliest people.

right now we are drinking caffe verona, we like it strong!

I am so glad that I spotted these too cool snacks for Madison at Harris teeter. They are materna GoGo squeez applesauce, you don't have to worry about a bowl and spoon for these babies. They come in these little packets with a top so if she doesn't finish her yummy applesauce I can just stick it in the fridge for later. They come in different yummy flavors, right now we have applestrawberry.

But wait here is the best part, the ingredients are apple and apple juice concentrate and thats all folks!

and my last love Trader Joes! Oh how I love going in there and discovering new and healthy goodies each time. I am loving the guilt-less tortilla chips and hot smoky chipotle salsa. Major yum for me and the hubby!

Easter Weekend

We had such a great Easter this year, I know that I will never forget this past weekend! We went to my mom and her boyfriend Will's (they have been together for around 7 years) house on Lake Gaston. My brother and his sweet and spunky girlfriend Taylor came as well. I do not know the last time we all stayed together and just hung out around the house and talked. We went for boat rides and made cupcakes and danced to reggae music (oh yeah) and of course we watched Duke play on Saturday night!

My husband is sooo happy they won the championship! He has even got Madison saying "Go Duke" and I have to admit its pretty darn cute.

Sorry I get off topic very easily, now where was I...

Madison had so much fun, she had a smile on her face the whole time. Living in an apartment their isn't really anywhere for her to run and play outside, I take her to the park of course, but at the lakehouse my little lady can run and run and run as much as she wants and boy did she.

The only problem we had with her was she did not want to take her naps. The only time she took a nap was on a boat ride Sunday morning in her daddys arms, and then she fell asleep in the hammock swing with my grandma.

My grandparents and Will's mom came on Sunday to eat lunch and have our second annual easter egg hunt. Madi had a lot of fun finding her eggs, she even found the silver egg with ten dollars in it, everyone else including myself were looking everywhere for it, haha go figure.

Ever since I was little I have always said that if I could choose one "super human power" it would be to fly!
Well when Eric and I found this video on youtube from 60 minutes, one of our favorite shows, I found out that it's not so super human after all.
I know the video is 11 min. but believe me you NEED to make the time to watch it and show your husbands too!

This is by far the most adventurous, amazing, terrifying, sports there is. Can you imagine souring through the air at 100-140 mph right alongside a mountain just like a bird!!!

Here are a few pictures from last weekend at my grandmas house, It was so nice outside! Too bad it's not going to be this weekend, with highs in the mid fiftys and rain on Sunday! It's ok though since we have taken full advatage to all of this wonderful weather and stayed outside as much as possible!

Madison kept wanting her lala(my mom, Lisa, get it?) and nana to pick her up and "hop her" as she said.

I was walking around taking pictures of a bunch of random stuff, this is a little bird feeder that sticks in the ground, anyways when I got to it while I was editing and deleting (mostly deleting) I thought it was kind of freaky!

I saved the best for last, there is no denying that they are father and daughter!!! Look at the expressions on their faces, just alike! Madison looks and acts more like her daddy every day and he couldn't be happier about that.

Busy doing spring sessions this weekend! We will see how well that goes with the weather.
