Holiday Cards

Yikes! I can’t believe it’s that time of year but holiday card season is upon us. Check out this year’s templates courtesy of Simply Color Lab.

There are a couple options for using these:

If you have some favorite shots from your 2011 session, turn them into beautiful press-printed Christmas or holiday cards.
Use your own files to create cards using the above templates.
Schedule a session and knock out holiday gifts (think framed prints or canvas wraps) and holiday cards all in one!

A Harford County Family | Back to School Portraits

As our family enters the world of homeschooling it’s been fun having fellow homeschooling families as clients. Back-to-school portraits were always something I dreaded growing up. They are so institutional. I think they’re still using the same backdrop from twenty years ago. I asked this family to let each child bring something that told a mini-story about who he was.

It was really neat to see what each child (all seven!) brought and how each responded to the camera.

They are certainly a great bunch!

Baltimore Lifestyle Photographer | The Great Turtle Hunt

“We are such creatures of habit,” explained this returning client when I asked if they’d explored a trail just up the road, “We always come here to hunt for turtles.”

Because turtle hunting in the mud is almost a weekly tradition and clearly something the entire family enjoys, it was the perfect location for their session.

Even the baby enjoyed the adventure.

And an adventure it was. By the end of our hunt, we were all up to our knees (at least) in mud.

It took to the bitter end but there was finally turtle success!

And I had to post this picture because I love it so much.

“Casual headshots.” Is that an oxymoron?

I have to admit, I was a little intimidated by a request to do headshots as it’s not really my niche. But the line, “I’m not looking for Wall Street, more of a WIRED magazine look,” kept me interested.

I’m super-excited they were for a great friend who was flexible enough to change venues last minute since we were under a severe thunderstorm warning. I’d say the location worked out alright.

Wondering how to show off your photos? Or can’t decide which one you like best? Why pick one? Check out these suggestions for sizing and grouping.

Make sure to get prints and canvases large enough for the space you are filling.

Try super-imposing a geometric shape to fill with frames if you want to create an eclectic layout.

Don’t forget the bedrooms!

Stairways are great places to show off your favorites, too.
