This week’s episode of All American gave me a bit of whiplash. The season started off with a Christmas episode in October, now here we are 5 episodes later and it’s Valentine’s Day in November. As usual, the CW is late announcing their fall and winter finale dates, but since the series was granted 20 episodes this season, the timing of the seasons in the series is quite frankly, very strange. But nevertheless, this was a Valentine’s Day episode and leave it to J.J. to help his friends make the most of the day, in more ways than one.

It’s clear from the beginning that this Valentine’s Day will be an awkward one, with Spencer and Olivia still attempting to move on from one another, and Jordan and Layla’s not-so-secret romance. Cue J.J. to make things even more awkward, by twisting the arms of Spencer and Jordan to be a part of his fraternity’s speed dating event. J.J. Is about as subtle as a brick through a window, and in a roundabout way he makes it known to Jordan that he is aware of what’s going on between him and Layla. Jordan tells Layla that J.J. knows, but it doesn’t really phase her. Neither does Jordan’s participation in the speed dating event, since she has decided that they should have a low key valentines this year. This doesn’t work for Jordan, however, as he has fallen fast and hard for Layla. He begrudgingly participates in the speed dating event, but every question and answer has him referring to Layla, to the point where he finally admits to J.J. that he is right about them. J.J. promises to keep it a secret, but let’s be real, this is J.J. we are talking about. Interestingly enough, Layla feels bad about brushing off Valentine’s Day and turns to J.J. to help her plan something special for Jordan. She lures Jordan to her studio, where she puts him on the spot by asking him the questions from speed dating that J.J. gave her. The two confess their love for each other and decide to make their relationship official without secrets, because as mentioned, now that J.J. knows, they may as well tell everyone themselves.

Aside from speed dating, J.J. also discovers that Asher has signed Jabari. It shouldn’t have taken Spencer and Jordan to make him realize that he’s been slacking and not taking football seriously, but it did. He tries to make things right by going to the gym on Valentine’s day, but when he was invited to attend a flip flop party, he ultimately chose fun with friends over working out. Asher sees this as the final nail in J.J.’s coffin, and this will likely cost J.J. his opportunity at Coastal California. It is unclear what will become of J.J. now, but he is headed down a bad path and hopefully he can get his priorities in order before it’s too late for his career.

Spencer is also struggling on Valentine’s Day. He sees whatever is going on between him and Alicia as a budding friendship, so he has planned nothing to mark the special event. Coop offers him advice, telling Spencer that he should watch “Pretty Woman” and take notes on how to plan a perfect night for his girl. Spencer goes all out with a romantic dinner at the beach house, with roses and sexy music to top it off. Alicia ends up being uncomfortable with the whole vibe of the night, and gets Spencer to talk to her about what’s going through his mind. He came clean about the “Pretty Woman” lesson, and about sleeping with Olivia. Thankfully, Alicia was super cool with it because she also didn’t see their relationship as exclusive. They decide to do away with the romantic vibe of the night, and have a quiet night watching “Pretty Woman,” which ultimately leads the two to sleeping together for the first time. One thing Alicia noticed right away about Spencer, is that he is a relationship-minded guy. She wants him to just enjoy the getting to know you phase of dating and have fun. Hopefully Spencer can take a few steps back and enjoy the moment with Alicia. This could be a really great thing for him, and there’s no need to rush.

Spencer’s failed evening benefitted Billy in a huge way. He forgot all about Valentine’s Day, and thanks to Spencer, he was able to give the red roses that Alicia didn’t want, to Laura. That was not Billy’s main focus this episode, however. Olivia has drafted her article and asks Billy to read it. He is very proud of his little girl and thinks she has done a great job. While Billy thinks her article will expose Coach Garrett and put pressure on him, Olivia wants it to hit harder than that. She wants Garrett fired. Olivia realizes that her article is missing something. She has interviews with two former walk-on players, but the public could just interpret them as disgruntled players who want to get back at Garrett. She needs someone with more credibility. Luckily Billy has a former teammate, Eric, who was Garrett’s former assistant coach. Olivia is eager to do the interview, but Billy tells her that he needs to approach this with care so that Eric will feel comfortable enough to speak. Billy meets with Eric and manages to talk him into meeting with Olivia. But before that can happen, Coach Garrett plays his hand by resigning, which came as a shock to absolutely everyone, including his assistant coach. So that leaves us to wonder, who tipped Garrett off about Olivia’s story, and will her story have enough impact to make it so that Garrett doesn’t get another coaching job? At first it would seem that Spencer and Jordan won’t be affected by the backlash from Olivia’s story now that Garrett has resigned, however the preview for next week suggests otherwise. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Elsewhere in the episode, Coop attended an interview with a GAU law professor, to see if she can audit one of his courses. There is stiff competition to get in, including students with impressive volunteer work and internships on their resumes. The professor made it clear that there was tough competition, and Coop took that as a rejection and walked out mid-way through the interview. Meanwhile, Preach finally had his day in court. Coop attended the hearing, but you could tell how much it was killing her that she couldn’t help, since Laura took her off the case. It is quickly realized how much of a mistake that was, when Darius lost the case because he neglected to file some of the briefs. Coop was invested in the case and had a desire to get it done for Preach. Had she handled it, perhaps this wouldn’t have happened. Preach is devastated that he has to hand over his daughter for 30 days while the paperwork is properly filed. He is also rightfully angry with Coop, who promised this wouldn’t happen. A promise that Coop never should have made. Coop goes into Laura’s office and demands to be put back on the case and she doesn’t take no for an answer. This determination spurs her to walk back into the professor's office, and beg for another chance. Coop shares her life story and how she may not have an impressive resume of volunteer experience, but she has life experience and that should qualify her more than anyone else. The professor agrees to allow her to audit the course. It is great to see Coop fight so hard for what she wants. Her determination and passion to help people are going to make her a great lawyer someday.

Welcome to this years SpoilerTV Cancellation Predictor

Last year, each day after the Finals are released, we update our data (see the notes below about how we get our data) in order to see if we could predict which show(s) would be renewed or cancelled.

As you can see from last years summary, we did pretty well apart from a few strange ones such as Welcome to Flatch, Grand Crew renewals and the cancellation of Magnum PI

This index is by no means a 100% accurate guide about if your show is safe or in danger and should be seen as a bit of FUN.

NOTE: Until we have at least 3-4 weeks of data for each show that this table is not going to be very accurate and it will vary a lot each update. We'll try to update the full Cancellation Table once per day the new season starts and the ratings are released.

Understanding the Table - Please Read
1) The LOWER the Index Rating number the more likely a show is to get cancelled, HIGHER numbers = safety.
2) This is an ongoing exercise that I hope to refine each week to make the index more accurate.
3) Only the major networks are included currently ie ABC/FOX/CW/CBS/NBC. And only for the main TV Season ie we don't cover Summer Shows.
4) This chart is a prediction of all the shows using our own formula based on the viewing numbers, 18-49, and + 7 Numbers. These 3 factors are the main weighting of the Index number, however we also factor in things such as the Network they are on (eg CW shows get lower numbers), the day of week they air (eg Fridays are lower numbers), DVR Numbers and +7 and +3 numbers,DVD/Blu-Ray Sales,Production Costs, Cast Contracts/Availability, Syndication, online popularity such as streamed views, Nielsen Online Ratings etc.
5) Shows still might not get renewed despite good numbers due eg a show coming to an end of run eg A show might be in it's final season no matter what the ratings are etc or could be due to key cast wanting to leave after their contracts have expired. Recent Examples are H50 and SPN, when the leads wanted out despite the ratings being strong enough for another season. etc
6) Remember Ratings are relative to ratings for other shows on the same network.
7) Shows that have been renewed for a New Season are marked in Blue

About the Daily Ratings

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.

Normally between 4pm-5pm GMT we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above. When the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database as well as the above tables.

The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc . Final Adjusted numbers will be posted each night around 9pm-10pm UK apart from the weekend.

Premiere Date Pushed Back

Showtime has pushed the premiere date for Season 2 of Your Honor to January 2023. The 10-episode second season starring Bryan Cranston will now bow on demand and on streaming Friday, January 13, 2023, and on-air on Sunday, January 15 at 9 pm. It was initially scheduled to premiere on streaming/on demand on December 9 and on linear December 11.

SHOWTIME announced today that the second season of YOUR HONOR, starring and executive produced by Oscar® nominee and Emmy® winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) will return on Friday, December 9, available on streaming and on demand for all SHOWTIME subscribers, before making its on-air debut on Sunday, December 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Emmy nominee Hope Davis (Love Life, American Crime) stars as Jimmy’s wife, Gina, who is at times more dangerous and driven than her husband, and Isiah Whitlock Jr. (The Wire) stars as Charlie, a local politician and Michael’s best friend.

Along with previously announced Oscar- and Emmy-nominated guest star Rosie Perez (The Flight Attendant), Emmy winner Margo Martindale (The Americans) and Amy Landecker (Transparent) will return to guest star. Martindale returns as Senator Elizabeth Guthrie, the mother of Desiato’s deceased wife and one of the last links to his previous life. Landecker plays Detective Nancy Costello, who has been betrayed by her friendship with Desiato and will not let go until she uncovers the truth. Perez is playing Olivia Delmont, a charismatic assistant U.S. Attorney who must manipulate and motivate an unwilling asset in order to bring down a crime organization in New Orleans.

Lilli Kay, Keith Machekanyanga, Andrene Ward-Hammond, Jimi Stanton and Benjamin Flores Jr. have been upped to series regulars for season two. This season, Big Mo (Ward-Hammond), the formidable leader of the Desire Gang, demands fierce loyalty as she pushes to expand her empire throughout New Orleans with help from Little Mo (Machekanyanga). Fia Baxter (Kay) is forced to reckon with the true nature of her family as she deals with the aftermath of her boyfriend’s shooting (by a bullet that was intended for her brother). As the only surviving son of Jimmy Baxter, Carlo (Stanton) is now more determined than ever to follow in his father’s criminal footsteps, while Eugene Jones’ (Flores Jr.) attempt to avenge his brother’s death has created a new chain of events that threaten to create a war on the streets of New Orleans.

Chicago Med – The Clothes Make The Man…Or Do They? – Review

In this episode, we again see how the supply issues are causing stress not only on the system but creating dangerous situations for staff. We also get to see development in several relationships, both new and old, some for the good and some for the bad. And once again, the Chicago Med writers and the Dick Wolf team are outdoing themselves, providing us with amazing content and exciting storylines.

Sharon Goodwin, Jack Dayton and the Scrub shortage

The hospital does not get their delivery of scrubs and Goodwin goes to bat for patient safety and staff safety with the administrative staff, but they are not budging because they are in contract negotiations with the laundry supplier. The staff are all in plain clothes and many have to hit the gift and local thrift shops to have something to wear.

Dr. Marcel is checking on Nathaniel and he is doing well with his new lungs but Jack Dayton asks Crockett why no one is in scrubs and he lets him know it is a laundry issue and the hospital is out of scrubs. At the end of the episode, a supply of scrubs arrives and Jack Dayton comes out to greet the truck and take some pictures. He called the company and convinced them to rush the order of scrubs to the hospital by speaking with them about another trucking contract they are negotiating with one of his companies. Maggie and Sharon discuss that it is nice to have a guardian angel, but how long can it last.

It is always so wonderful to see Sharon Goodwin in action and her character always brings such knowledge and balance to every situation they are dealing with at Chicago Med. There is no doubt that every hospital needs a Sharon Goodwin to advocate for the patients and staff, and that is what makes her so effective and endearing to watch.

Dr. Archer, Dr. Choi, Sean Archer and Deke Neeman

A prisoner comes in from the hospital who has been stabbed in the neck, and Dr. Choi and Dr. Tanaka-Reid are caring for him. Courtney the paramedic is speaking to Dr. Archer at the desk and tells him it is strange that the patients name was also Archer. Dean goes into the trauma room and his son Sean was stabbed in the neck, and there is a retained foreign body from the broken shank. Dr. Archer tells Ethan he wants to do the surgery but Ethan tells him he cannot and that he knows he is right and he needs to trust them and let them treat him.

A second patient comes in after an altercation with a corrections officer, and Dr. Archer takes the case with Dr. Tanaka-Reid, and they find out that he is the man that stabbed Sean Archer. Dr. Archer puts in a chest tube and Dr. Choi returns and lets Dr. Archer know that his son is doing well. Ethan sees Kai checking on the new patient and although Dr. Archer says he is fine, Ethan wants to sends him for a chest CT and tells him his name cannot be on record as the doctor for the patient. Dr. Choi says he will take it up with Goodwin if he has to so Dr. Archer lets Dr. Choi take over. Ethan identifies that there is a problem with the chest tube, but before they can put in a new one, he arrests, and Dr. Archer cracks his chest and they revive him.

Ethan goes to talk to Dean (cue the horrible roof green screen) and Dean shares with him that he feels like he is a failure as a father because he cannot protect his son. He says he is ashamed of what has happened with Sean. Later Dean goes to visit his son and helps to extubate him and tells him he is there and it will be okay. The evolution of Dean Archer this season has been one that has been most enjoyable to see as he really has begun to be more humanized in the current storylines between his growing friendship with Dr. Asher and his evolving long term friendship with Ethan. It will be enjoyable to see now what happens with his relationship with Sean as the season progresses.

Dr. Hudgins, Dr. Charles, Dr. Marcel and the Chapmans

Because she is short staffed, Maggie asks Dr. Charles to supervise Dr. Hudgins. The ambulance brings in Renee Chapman, who is in a confused state and was found scaling a fence and fell. She becomes psychotic and stabs herself, demanding to see Dr. Blake and to “get it out of her”. They sedate her and discover that she is a transplant patient who got a new kidney a year ago.

Dr. Charles reviews the case with Dr. Marcel and they run a complete metabolic panel and a head CT, but the results are negative. They realize that the anti-rejection drugs she is on is causing the psychosis. They trial a few antipsychotics and they all make her completely sedated, confused and almost catatonic. Her husband says her mind is everything to her and he does not feel she would want to be that way, and he asks them to remove the organ and put her back on dialysis so that they can stop the anti-rejection medications. Dr. Marcel refuses, but ultimately the hospital ethics committee feels that it is the husbands right and Dr. Charles convinces Dr. Marcel to do the surgery. They take the kidney out, and put it back into the donation network and put her back on dialysis.

When the drugs clear her system, and she is back in her right mind, Renee shocks Dr. Charles and Dr. Marcel by thanking her husband, and agreeing with him that she would not have wanted to live like that. The organ goes to a new recipient, and they discuss the long term plan of her going back on dialysis.

This was a very interesting storyline as we see Dr. Marcel dealing with the long term outcomes of his guilt over the decision he made for Dr. Blake’s surgery, especially when we have seen that everyone has said that what he decided is not what she would have wanted. And seeing him paired with Dr. Charles was such a treat, as Dr. Charles is such a wonderful advocate for assisting patients to be able to preserve their wishes, so this was a very interesting dynamic.

Dr. Halstead, Dr. Asher and Maya

Will and Hannah are on their way back to the hospital and run into a young woman who is in labor and whose neighbor drives her in. They check on her in the van and then take her into the department and check her out and she complains of feeling itchy but otherwise okay. She is 6cm dilated and they take her to deliver in the hybrid OR as she has to have a C-Section because the baby is in a breech position. While they are delivering the baby, Will and Hannah also start to become itchy and Maya becomes unresponsive and it appears to be a narcotic overdose. They give her narcan and are able to revive her, but she denies using any drugs.

They test her but there is no evidence of long term use and they cannot figure out how she was exposed. Security comes to speak to Maggie and they find out that the neighbor had a warrant out by CPD for drugs and that there were traces of carfentanyl in his van. They discover that she was exposed when it got on her socks, and Hannah realizes she and Will were exposed and runs to find Will, who is passed out on the floor of the lounge. She gives him Narcan to revive him.

They have to decontaminate in the shower room and Hannah tells Will to relax as it is not like they have not seen each other naked before, and she jokes with him about the world coming full circle because they met when he was giving her Narcan at the safe injection site.

They explain to Maya how she was exposed and that she and the baby are both safe. Will invites Hannah to dinner but she says she is going to hit a meeting on the way home and they say they will meet up tomorrow. After his conversation with Ethan at the beginning of the episode about how things are different with someone the second time around, it seems to have sparked Will’s curiosity and it will be interesting to see how things evolve for him and Hannah as the seasons progress. It seems like perhaps there are sparks between them again, and I know many fans of the show would love to see them reunite.

Ben, Maggie, Grant and Mirah

Ben brings in his student, Mirah, who fell at school. Dr. Hudgins is treating her and while they are at the desk, Maggie is packing a care package for Vanessa and everyone is contributing. Grant shows up to add his old jacket to the package. Maggie introduces Ben to Grant and afterwards, he is upset. He says it is because Dr. Hudgins is running a lot of tests and everything seems to be moving slowly, but it is not hard to see that something else is bothering him. Maggie asks him if he is upset because of Grant and he says no, but that she did say she was going to have nothing to do with him. Maggie says that he was just bringing in something for Vanessa, and Ben says of course, it is always about Vanessa.

Mirah’s mother thanks Ben and he leaves, and tells Maggie not to wait up and he will try not to wake her when comes in. Clearly Maggie’s relationship with Vanessa has been a sensitive area for Ben, and now that she has gone overseas it will be interesting to see what happens between them.

Unless you've been living under a rock, new Twitter owner mElon Musk is single handedly doing his best to destroy his $40 billion company Twitter. From removing services, firing 80% of staff, firing anyone who disagrees with him, the blue badge/verification fiasco etc etc it seems that Twitter could implode at anytime.

As a result we thought we'd look for some Twitter alternative if/when Twitter implodes and no longer works. (NOTE: We're still on Twitter as well for as long as it lasts.)

As a result we've setup on Mastodon, a social network that has been around for a while but has exploded in the last couple of weeks. They are seeing 500,000 new account signups weekly with no sign of slowing down.

Note we're on the https://home.social instance but you can sign up on any of the 1000's Mastodon servers/instances (They all talk and operate together so you don't need to be signed up on the same server as another user to follow them etc).

It's similar to Twitter in many ways in that you can Toot (Tweet), Follow, Boost (Like), add Gifs / Emoji's, Web and Phone Apps etc but it has a LOT of advantages.

1) It is Open Source and Free
2) It is not owned by anyone so no one can sell it etc
3) Trolls, Racists, Hate Speech is quickly shutdown and users banned.
4) There is NO ALGORITHM it shows you exactly what you want to see.
5) Your Feed is YOUR feed. No Ads, No Sponspored Posts, No Gimmicks.
6) Longer Toot box
7) No Musk

I cannot stress enough how good it feels to use a social media service like that where you are in COMPLETE control. Everyone should look to get an account now and then tell your friends/family/twitter followers. It's a real game changer.

THE RECRUIT centers around Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo), a young CIA lawyer whose first week on the job turns upside down when he discovers a threatening letter by former asset Max Meladze (Laura Haddock), who plans to expose the agency unless they exonerate her of a serious crime.
