That’s right! I am finally finishing what I started and obtaining my undergrad degree. This summer I officially started school at SCAD and I am just beginning my second semester.

Luckily, I attend school online but this outfit would be a top choice as my first day of school outfit if I was attending classes. It has been one of my summer essentials as it is comfortable, flattering and classic. The sun hat has been one of my Summer staples that I am carrying over into Fall. It’s kind of unbelievable how much cooler it keeps you – I only wish I had discovered this trick much sooner.

I wore this outfit on Christmas day and felt especially fashionable wearing so many designers at once. TBA, Betsey Johnson, BB Dakota & Tulle all in one look! I have had this dress for quite some time as I purchased it for a wedding in the Spring but have somehow managed not to photograph it until now. As you are likely aware, I am a sucker for a whimsical print in a sophisticated style. And golden sparkle shoes with fluorescent pink soles?! Do I need to say more? Don’t even get me started on how much I heart this cape – particularly when paired with these delicate lace gloves…

Upon discovering this hat last winter I knew it had to be mine – in all of it’s glorious novelty fashion! I am totally on board with this animal hat trend currently happening and knew I had to seek out the perfect cat version for myself. I love it’s combination of simplicity and silliness and the fact that it is incredibly soft and warm, handmade in Peru and fluffy like a kitten.

Having not taken outfit photos in a minute I am a bit out of practice and my klutzy uncoordinated self managed to slip and fall off a slippery log (hence the me covered in snow pic below) landing on my shoulder making every activity involving my left arm super painful. Fashion over function in action I suppose?

Oh and I may have gotten a hold of a box of red hair dye…

While in Miami I heard about the art deco district and immediately made time to photo walk during some of my spare time. I have been a long time fan of the art deco aesthetic and the influence it has on modern design. Walking through the streets it is clear these buildings and signs have more stories to tell than just what is seen. So without more of my rambling I present the highlights of my little walk – although not entirely art deco.

If you follow my Twitter you may already be aware that I was one of the 24 style icons chosen to fly to Miami and walk in Cotton’s 24 Hour Runway Show. It was a whirlwind of a weekend and a once in a lifetime experience that my mind is still reeling from. Between staying in a swanky hotel, being treated like a rockstar and hanging with 23 of the coolest people I have ever met I am not sure I can choose just one highlight.

I have mentioned it before but I am surely not a model so it was quite a bit out of my typical character to be struttin’ down a runway. Nonetheless it was an amazing energy filled time I am glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to experience. We were all given a budget to select one cotton look from a list of online retailers and asked to create a second cotton look from existing items in our closets.

For my ‘Painting the Town’ look I kept it simple with my Dear Creatures Tennis Dress and Seychelles Bronze Sophia Wedges.

During the day for ‘Show Stopper’ I decided on a Staring At Stars Buffalo Utility Dress paired with a Maeve Feathered Village Skirt and Rachel Antonoff Wendybird Loafers.

It was such a fabulous time I cannot even begin to put it into words so I will let the photos do the talking…

I am not typically the festive type but this outfit just seemed too apropos for the holiday to pass up. It was quite fun to break out of my usual holiday recluse style and get into the spirit a bit more. We celebrated by having a superb BBQ hosted by my in-laws followed by shooting some flaming balls (that were some of the spoils from a recent trip to Evanston) and our usual drive along the benches to observe all the cities’ fireworks simultaneously. The weather was overcast and threatened rain for most of the day (thus the tights) so we were super grateful that it cleared up in time for the festivities.

Recently, I created a style board for a ModCloth contest and ended up winning this amazing headband. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite Summer accessories for outdoor concerts and evening walks in the park. It is no secret by now that I love birds so this is the perfect accessory to add some quirky personality.

I think it is safe to say that I am loving all the elements of this outfit at the moment. The dress is an amazingly vivid red and is light enough to wear on even the most sweltering day. The seagull ring adds in a bit of my local state pride (the seagull is our state bird after all). And I have been eyeing these bronze Seychelles for quite sometime and finally found an occasion for which to use as an excuse to purchase them. Not to mention most of the pieces in this outfit were found on sale – my mom says I am the queen of the sale racks because I seem to have a knack for sorting through the awful to find the amazing.

Summer has finally arrived leaving behind the torrential downpours (and even snow!) that was our Spring making it the perfect time for me to start getting back in my outfit photo taking routine. Just in time to show off my new Rachel Antonoff Wendybird’s and one of my recent go to office outfits.

These shoes are absolutely fabulous and I feel so retro wearing them! The hearts add a bit of a unique twist to them and are true to Rachel Antonoff’s clever style – her presentations of her collections definitely exemplify her creative genius. I am completely enamored with her cat pocketed skirt and jumper next season.

While snapping these photos I was wandering around blind (meaning I was wearing my sunglasses despite the fact they aren’t prescription and I have quite poor vision) when a spider dangling from the nearby trees landing on me causing me to jump and in the process lose my remote as it flew out of my hand into my blurry surroundings. Both Andrew and I spent quite some time combing the grass in search of it with zero luck which made taking the subsequent photos quite an interesting process.

A few weeks months ago we took a little day trip out to the Great Salt Lake to visit Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty before the massive amounts of snow we received this year comes flooding down rendering the jetty invisible underneath the water. It was quite an adventure and we even made a pit stop at Promontory Point for a bit of historical education along the way.

This piece is one I have heard about it art classes for years and have always wanted to venture out and get a look at seeing as how I live in such proximity. It was worth every minute in the car to get out there because photos can’t capture the ambience of being out in the middle of nowhere and suddenly coming across this amazing piece of art. In fact the water is actually a beautiful red that my camera lens couldn’t seem to pick up on. I highly recommend taking the trip to see it for yourself if you ever happen to find yourself in SL,UT.

I actually came across some disheartening news earlier today and decided that it would be an ideal time to finally edit these photos and get them posted. Here’s to hoping this beautiful piece isn’t destroyed for unnecessary capital gain.

In other news, I have been a bit of a blog failure these days. Life has been completely hectic and I am beginning to recover from starting a new job, moving and attending my sister-in-law’s wedding all within about a 2 week period. Things are finally starting to normalize and I am hoping to get more regular posting back up and going again. And with that enjoy the rest of the photos…

I practically stole ModCloth Cabin Fever Sale with the ridiculously amazing deal I got on it a few weeks ago and have worn it several times since. It is the perfect addition to my ever growing cat print collection and happens to be Andrew’s favorite out of the bunch so we ventured out into the drizzly grey skies to snap some photos. I consider myself quite lucky to have a boy who will come out in the rain with me just to take photos thus saving me the pain of running back and forth between my camera in heels and risking possible injury from slipping on the wet ground.

Living in Draper for the past few months we have discovered several prime locations for photos this old abandoned barn being one of the most awesome.

This teal trench is another newer addition to my wardrobe and also found for a ridiculously great price on a trip to Nordstrom Rack with my parents. It was destiny as it was the sole one of it’s kind on the rack, happened to be in my size, is by Tulle (the same brand that makes my two other new coats from earlier this winter) and happens to be a bright shade of one of my favorite colors adding vibrance to any outfit.

I have been wearing this Panther Brooch non-stop ever since receiving it for Xmas – I love the element of fantasy and touch of whimsicality it brings.

On a side note, the title of this post is inspired by one of my most favorite internet videos ever, which you absolutely must watch if you haven’t yet had the chance.
