Candle Holder

I'm not exactly sure why, but I kind of like this photo of this candle holder in our living room. It's hanging in the middle of the ceiling where a light fixture should be, but there's no wiring going to it, so I've never installed a light or ceiling fan. I think I like to palette of colors and the weird fuzzy focus effect. By the way, I did nothing to manipulate this photo except to use the iPhoto automatic image enhance function to adjust the contrast a bit.

Meet Our Friend Myles

Myles is one of our cats. He is all personality, but also a very sweet boy at heart. He was literally a starving kitten when my wife agreed to foster him. His fur was brown and white when we got him, but the vet said he was really a black and white cat. The malnutrition made the black fur turn brown. He is also a very fat guy. This is common in kittens who suffered from malnutrition. The lack of food does something to their metabolism. He is our very good friend. (Click the photo to view a larger sized image.)

Mount Evans Marmot

About three of four years ago we drove up to the top of Mount Evans, Colorado. It was late June and storm clouds were rolling through the area. We drove in clouds until we got near the top and then we found ourselves in between two layers of clouds. As we neared the parking lot near the peak, we saw this little guy standing by the side of the road. Marmots are fun to watch and can be seen quite often around Mount Evans. The quality of this image is not the best, but I like the marmot. (Click the photo to view a larger size image.)

Windows Off Spring Street

We took a day trip Eureka Springs, Arkansas earlier this month for our 30th wedding anniversary. This is a shot of some side windows of an art gallery on Spring Street right where it makes a sharp bend. We walked down past the side of the building to look for this little place that was supposed to have the best pizza in town -- or so we were told by the locals. I was struck by the blue trim and the light coming from inside the building.

The pizza place was closed until dinner time, so we ended up eating on the balcony of the 1905 Basin Park Hotel. That was nice too.
