Scuba Santas is a mass participation event that involves as many scuba divers as possible dressing up as Santa and diving in the waters of the National Diving & Activity Centre Quarry in Chepstow.

Scuba Santas will be entering its 5th year in 2011 and continues going from strength to strength. Often quoted as the “best dive of the year” the event has raised over £15,000 for crew training at the RNLI breaking its own world record several times over in the process.

Metalfury became involved with Scuba Santas prior to the 2010 event when we developed an updated brand identity, car stickers and Tote bags. This year we have continued our involvement and have produced supporting artwork such as posters, web banners, flyers and sponsorship forms. Metalfury also heavily promoted the event through the NDAC’s social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.

If you’re not a diver, but want to support/sponsor the event please visit the Scuba Santa’s website.

Do you dream of a UK camping holiday, but feel put off my the rain, discomfort and the cold? Well maybe Glamping is for you!

Glamping is camping’s trendy new friend; combining all the benefits of the great outdoors but without the mud and soggy canvass.

Metalfury have recently been helping the National Diving & Activty Centre (NDAC) with their move into the Glamping arena. The NDAC wanted to offer some low cost accomodation to their divers and tourists visiting the Forest of Dean.

The NDAC decided that rather than just offering a standard campsite, they would invest in the latest in glamping accommodation in the form of Wooden Wigwams. Sleeping up to five adults, Wigwams are the ultimate eco cabin; double-glazed, secure, cosy and warm whatever the time of year. A low cost alternative to hotels and B&Bs, their Wigwams truly offer all year round camping, and the best bit, no pitching a tent in the rain!

The NDAC ordered their heated cabins, the land was prepared, the infrastructure was put in place and in the meantime Metalfury kept busy keeping the NDAC news pages and twitter feed upto date with the wigwam developments. Then on a rainy February day six Wigwams made their 600 mile journey from the manufacturers in Scotland to the National Diving & Activity Centre in Chepstow.

After the site works were completed the National Diving & Activity Centre were awarded the planning permission for their wigwam site from the Forest of Dean District Council (FODDC) in April.

The team at the NDAC were keen to take advantage of the upcoming sunny weekend and start taking bookings. So with only a couple of days, metalfury produced the branding for the Wigwam accommodation, a microsite, web banners, promotional flyers and supporting artwork to go inside the wigwams themselves.

It was quite a slog to get everything done and it required quite a lot of caffeine, but we managed to get everything done on time and the wigwams are proving to be a great success. We are really pleased with the results and are looking forward to a relaxing glamping weekend in Chepstow over the summer; toasting marshmallows around a camp fire and sleeping under the stars!

If you are interested in staying in one of the NDAC’s Wooden Wigwams visit the Wigwam microsite here>

It can be all too easy after the madness of Christmas and the overindulgence to overlook one’s manners. I have been brought up to always write a proper thank you – not a phone call or a passing comment of thanks, but a handwritten note or letter.

… No matter what your handwriting is like, these lovely thank you cards will ensure your gift-giver is left in no doubt that you appreciate their kindness.

Poppy Sparkles goes on to show a great collection of thank you cards, all available on Etsy

At 7.5 metres long 2.3 metres deep and 3 metres high, this trailer would be very difficult to miss and we think it is the largest piece of artwork we have created.

The trailer will be touring the Chepstow area over the next few months promoting ‘taking the plunge‘ at the National Diving & Activity Centre, so keep an eye out for it!

The National Diving & Activity Centre is, as the name suggests an activity and scuba diving centre based in Chepstow, Gloucestershire. Their flooded quarry offers some of the best inland dive conditions in Europe and their facilities include a shop, cafe, servicing centre, training, gas room, changing rooms and toilets. You could also learn to free dive there with the Saltfree Divers

Their underwater quarry has many attractions including, a North Sea Diving Bell, a Saracen Armoured Vehicle and a Stalwart Amphibious vehicle.

His creative genius has allowed us to have something which I am truly proud of and a real shop front for Elements.
