La esposa y manager de RONNIE JAMES DIO, Wendy, escribió el siguiente comunicado:

"Hoy mi corazón está roto, Ronnie falleció a las 7:45 AM el 16 de mayo. Muchos, muchos amigos y familiares fueron capaces de darle una despedida íntima antes de que muriera tranquilamente.

"Ronnie sabía lo amado que era por todos.

"Por ello, agradecemos el cariño y apoyo que todos ustedes nos han dado.

"Por favor, dennos un par de días de privacidad para lidear con esta terrible pérdida.

"Por favor sepan que él los quería a todos y que su música vivirá por siempre".

Dio, de 67 años, combatía un cáncer al estómago, diagnosticado hace seis meses atrás. En una de las últimas entrevistas que hizo, el cantante de ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH y HEAVEN & HELL, además de su banda DIO, entregó un testimonio de su lucha: "Me siento bien y mal a ratos. Es un largo proceso. La quimioterapia es... nunca me di cuenta de lo difícil que es atraversarla (...) pero si estás determinado a ganarle (al cáncer), entonces debes hacer lo que tú crees que te ayudará a vencerlo, y en este caso es eso (...) Hace sentirme optimista acerca de mi vida y optimista de que hay mucho más por vivir".

"What Lies Beneath" será el próximo disco solista de Tarja Turunen, cuya portada puede verse más abajo.

El álbum, sucesor de "My Winter Storm" (2007), está siendo mezclado ahora mismo por el afamado Colin Richardson (NAPALM DEATH, KREATOR, MACHINE HEAD, BEHEMOTH). El CD saldrá a fines de agosto, precedido de un single a principios de ese mismo mes.

"At The Edge Of Time" se llamará la placa que los alemanes BLIND GUARDIAN sacarán tras cuatro años de "A Twist In The Myth" (2006).

El nuevo disco saldrá a finales del verano de este año por Nuclear Blast, pero será precedido por el single 'A Voice In The Dark', a estrenarse el 25 de junio.

SONATA ARCTICA grabará DVD

El próximo 30 de septiembre, los finlandeses SONATA ARCTICA grabarán su segundo DVD en Milán, el cual será lanzado durante el año 2011. La banda ofrecerá un show de por lo menos 2 horas repasando sus últimos discos “The Days Of Grays” y “Unia”, además de antiguas canciones y otras que no han sido interpretadas en vivo durante lo últimos años.

El grupo promete que el DVD contendrá mucho material extra, incluido un show realizado el 2009 en Kemi, el pueblo del que provienen ubicado en Finlandia.

BLIND GUARDIAN revela portada de su nuevo single

Los alemanes de BLIND GUARDIAN acaban de revelar lo que será la portada de su próximo single, A Voice In The Dark, perteneciente a su próximo trabajo de estudio, cuyo nombre está aún por conocerse. Puedes ver una versión apliada haciendo click sobre la imagen abajo de esta noticia.

Vale la pena recordar que hace unos pocos días la banda anunció que dicho single contendría tres canciones, incluyendo el clásico ochentero del británico-australiano John Farnharm. El track-list definitivo sería el siguiente:
