t’s hard to say whether these cakes taste good, but I wouldn’t be eager to try one of them. Maybe that heart cake and cake with eyes are delicious but still they look more disgusting then delicious. However, the imagination of their cooks is slightly twisted.

I got this interesting email, thought it would be good to share it with my pals…

Nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere on the Computer which can be named as “CON”. This is something funny and inexplicable? At Microsoft the whole Team, couldn’t answer why this happened!
TRY IT NOW, IT WILL NOT CREATE A “CON” FOLDER, Other examples are PRN and NUL

For those of you using Windows, do the following:

1.) Open an empty notepad file
2.) Type “Bush hid the facts” (without the quotes)
3.) Save it as whatever you want.
4.) Close it, and re-open it.

Noticed the weird bug? No one can explain!

It was a very hot day of summer when I was leaving for Gilgit.

Once again I got the annual holidays, but this time with some difficulty though. I was confused about what to do during these holidays. Last year my wife Maryam and I both got the holidays and we planned every thing before applying for the holidays ( My Facebook friends can see pictures of my last trip to Giligit Photo Album 1 Photo Album 2 and You can see some pictures on my tour here . This time the scene was quite different. I have got cute little kiddo that my wife has to look after to since she is just one month old. we were planning to go somewhere near like natya gali but that plan didn’t materialized as it was difficult to take such a small baby in a cold place.

Meanwhile I already consumed five of my holidays and I was getting frustrated as I wanted a big break or a big change. I was frustrated with my work.

I contacted my friend/tour guide in Gilgit Mr.Raji to guide me and he made a plan for me. Then came the moment when I revealed my intenstions to visit North to my father. “Oh nahi nai, pagal ho gae ho, halat dhako mulk ke, bilkool be nahi” means “no way, the situation in North is not suitable for tourists”. Suddenly all the light bulbs of hope and excitement glowing in my mind switched off. My face became exactly like a sad smiley though they are mostly yellow and I m black .

But my beautiful and cooperative wife jumped in and persuaded my father. Although he wasn’t very happy till the moment I left. I tried to convience him that situation is swat has nothing to do with Gilgit and Gilgit is still a very peaceful place to visit. This is a fact that even in such a bad security situation you can find a lot of foreign tourists there.

This is the first time I felt that how parents are concerned about their children since I have recently become a father. My daughter is just one month old and its already hard to imagine a life without her. You can’t realize the worries of your parents until you become one.

Finally on 9^th June I left for Gilgit on NATCO bus service from peer wadhai Rawalpindi. As usual I was late at the bus stop and the bus was about to leave. Boarded my luggage, got my seat and fortunately here we leave for the fairy land .. uuhuuuuu…

But soon I felt hunger and in a few minutes I was staring but the bus never stopped until we reached Manshere when it was time for the maghrab prayers. But its always hard to find good quality on the bus stands, I had no other choice so stuffed my tummy with a lot of non-healthy junk.

After Manshere it was dark bu the full moon was revealing everything around. When we reached Thakot bridge, mighty Indus started running parallel to the road all the way to Gilgit. I started praying to God that somehow just hide this moon because I was looking at the where the bus was actually going. It was seriously scary, but the most amazing also. One of the world’s mightiest river flowing with full might and you are going at 70-80 km/hr in an old jittery bus and it is for sure that the driver must have had charas before driving. This felt horrible and to add to it when I looked down on the road it was no where to see, damn the bust was not more than a foot away from the brink of the cliff. Then I had to draw the curtains and I told myself again and again that look you are going on the world’s highest highway and one of the world’s mightiest river is flowing along. But it was difficult to imagine that once the bus hits another bump and I felt like falling into the river. Hehhe

Last time the only difference was that there was no full moon and I were so happy that we are going on a very safe road until the dawn broke. So I saw everything this time but I’ll not go by road never again . And adding salt to the injury there wasn’t a cool girl in the bus otherwise I could comfort my heart and my soul and some other things like brain lolz by trying to impress her with my looks and with my camera by reading some books to look like a well educated and literate person who lose to read. But unfortunately I got a person on the next seat who loved to pick his nose now and then, who loves to spit on the floor of the bus, who sleeps with a wide open mouth and who tells me how bad is mineral water.

I was already upset with the whole bus environment when a baba g presented me with some more wonderful things “ Akkh – thuuuuu , Akhh- thuuuu” and a girl nearby vomited on the bust floor. Damn bc what the fuck is going around. It looked to me like I was traveling with camels. So the start of the journey was not fantastic.

After so many hours like at 1 O’clock in the morning we stopped for a few moments and Dassu-Kohistan. It was obviously very tiring, stood in a queue to go to the toilet, had some tea and we were on KKH again. Up till now I got used to smell of sweat and a lot of frustrating loud music when KKH started showing its ugly face.

KKH is getting repaired by the Chinese these days and it is totally ruined. This time it took me 22 hours to get there where it took 18 hours last year. The road was so bumpy and in that old bus I may had the same feelings like that of a fruit which is shaken in all direction in a blender. In shot, I was screwed. Somehow I got some sleep and when I got up it was the early hours of dawn. I took my camera and started shooting at random when the nose picking guy said “ phatron ke tasveer le ke kya kero gay” abbay tere lia yeh pather hoon gay, hum isay scenery kehtay hain .

After 22 hours I read Gilgit and it was four hours late from the usual time. I quickly took a taxi and came to Madina hotel where all the arrangements were done. Meet all the guys, had a lot of talk on every thing from usual stuff, friends family to politics, cricket and everything. Then some chit chat with an Italian, took lunch, had some rest and woke up at 9 P.M. Had some dinner and chit chat with some guys and now I am writing my diary .

This is the end of my first day to Gilgit.

I have a question, Isn’t there any thing good happening in this country that captures the attention of Geo cameras?  What they are doing is not journalism, they are spreading frustration and anarchy in the country. They have played a tremendously negative role in all the situations.

Other than reporting mass killings of people, showing their bodies, reporting unconfirmed reports and then proudly claiming that we were the first to broadcast the gruesome visuals, do they have anything good in their production houses to show it to the people.

It seems that the music has been banned on the private TV channels, no one shows any kind of music programs. We miss the children programs, but these private TV channels have no time to show that.

It is the need of the hour to uplift the morals of our youth, you can not achieve that by showing gruesome visuals of beheadings of people and killings of innocents.

Unfortunately, I follow Geo on Twitter and this is what I get today. Similar kind of twits pollute my twitter every day by Geo.

Lot have been said and written about attitudes…..What exactly are attitudes?

The dictionary meaning of attitude is:

“1. A feeling or opinion about something or someone, or a way of behaving that is caused by this: example :It’s often very difficult to change people’s attitudes.

2 If you say that someone has attitude, you mean that they are confident and independent, often in a rude or unpleasant way.

All of us have been following a set of attitudes we learned in our lifetime through our own experiences and those of others. Some of them are positive ….helps us to live our lives to the fullest-enjoying every moment. There are other attitudes which make our lives and that of others miserable – harming ourselves or others around us..

There are a few other attitudes in life which are neither negative nor positive……but can be put under the category – General – living our lives the way we have been and living and doing nothing to progress in life – in our careers, our relationships, our physical, mental or spiritual aspects of life.

Attitudes are nothing more than habits of thoughts, and habits can be acquired. An action repeated becomes an attitude realized.-Paul Myer (in Developing the Leader Within You by Maxwell)

The essence of Life as human beings is progress…..One thing all of us have to understand clearly is that if in any way we want to improve our lives -want more money, bigger house, smaller cell phones, have good health, recover from our addictions-if any, looking for “peace within”, serenity and contended life, we have to work on ourselves to change for the better.. There are no two ways about it.

“Changing our attitudes will definitely change our altitudes” But the problem is that many of us are not ready to change…..we fear change….Friends “pain doesn’t come from change ….it comes from resistance to change”

Here are a few “action steps” which will help you to work on the “Change of Attitude” Process. Try to work on it honestly and thoroughly. After all it is your life which can improve for the better.

First of all, do a little self searching exercise. You can ask yourself these questions:

a) Am I happy with the growth at my work.

b) Am I having a loving and understanding relationship with my wife/husband/ partner or parents or children?

c)  Do others treat me the way I want them to treat me?

d) Am I grateful for whatever I have today?

e) Do I believe that “my feelings are results of my thoughts” can I can change myself to think differently to feel and act differently.

There are many, who answer in affirmative to the above…they are doing a wonderful job with themselves are working on other areas in life where they feel there is scope for improvement…..and the focus is on progress and not perfection. Because once we aim at perfecting a particular thing or behavior…..we don’t even start…it is human nature….we tend to be perfectionists…..either we do it perfectly or we don’t do it at all…So friends …..we are not looking to have a noble price for living a happy and better life but are targeting at improving from our present one.

If the answer to any of the above questions is in negative, then it is time we get going and ACT.

How do we go about changing ourselves?

Here are a few tools which helped me alter my attitudes thereby changing my life for the better .These tools have worked for me and thousands of others…and if these worked for us…it sure will work for you too…the only thing you have to do is let them.

1. Be honest, open minded and willing to change – This is the most important step. Until you are honest with yourself, open to ideas and suggestions, and Willing to improve ….there is nothing in this world which will work for you.

2. List down all the negative characters or traits you have – You can always take the help of your wife/husband/ partner or a close friend as sometimes…we may not be able to see in ourselves what others can see in us.

3. Start working on them from “easy to hard” – start from the easiest one …the ones which requires less effort and gradually move on to the harder ones….break the harder ones into smaller parts….have a time limit…..set your own schedule… . but do a little bit on a daily basis….that way we will remain in touch with ourselves..

4. Compliment yourself on your achievements….howsoever small……compliment yourself …that way we are motivated to do a little more.

5. Thank your Higher power for whatever you have and whatever you were able to change……If you don’t believe in the concept of God…thank your stars……thank the universe…or thank science……the idea is not Whom to thank……but is to be grateful.

6. Snap yourself out of negative thoughts….and be conscious about them. One tool you can you can use is to wear a thick rubber band on your wrist and snap it whenever you are having negative thoughts…it will hurt you a little whenever you do that. By doing this you are giving signals to your brain that “pain is always comes from negative thoughts”…and if we don’t want pain….we might as well not think negative. Try it for 30 days and I am sure you mind will be alert whenever a negative thoughts comes.

7. Learn from your experience: “The one thing that is more painful than learning from experience is NOT learning from experience!”

Friends, life changes and if we WANT to be happy….we need to keep changing with time….and keep altering our attitudes to the changing situations and circumstances.

Most of us just need to start……..take action……. take the first step……….rest, God of your understanding and the universe will help you move on……
