Country superstar Carrie Underwood and her boyfriend, hockey player Mike Fisher, announced their engagement Monday (December 21). A rep for the singer confirmed the news to MTV News after the Ottawa Senators player revealed to the Ottawa Sun that he'd just proposed on Sunday.

"I'm happy to confirm that Carrie Underwood is engaged to Mike Fisher, and the couple couldn't be happier," the former American Idol's rep told MTV News. "No wedding date has been set at this time."

Anthony D. Marshall, who was convicted of siphoning millions from his mother, Brooke Astor, was sentenced Monday to one to three years in prison.

Justice A. Kirke Bartley Jr. said Mr. Marshall, who is 85, must report to prison on Jan. 19.

The sentence was for the most serious of 14 counts on which Mr. Marshall was convicted: first-degree grand larceny, for giving himself a retroactive lump-sum raise of about $1 million for managing his mother's finances. Justice Bartley also sentenced Mr. Marshall to one year on each of the 13 other charges he was convicted of, to run at the same time as the longer sentence.

The topic "RIP Brittany Murphy" began trending on Twitter on Sunday evening, as millions included the phrase in their Twitter postings. Most fans simply wanted to share their feelings about Murphy, 32, and talk about their favorite movie roles.

I suppose Brittany Murphy always seemed a bit unhinged -- the "Clueless" star had issues with fluctuating weight, a loopy persona and a whispered-about marriage to British screenwriter Simon Monjack.

The rumors that had plagued the pair since their 2007 nuptials were varied and salacious: Monjack's visa had conveniently expired around their wedding; rumors of infidelity abounded on both ends; allegations that Monjack had bad debts and a worse business reputation.

TMZ has learned the L.A. County Coroner is currently conducting an autopsy on Brittany Murphy, despite the wishes of her husband Simon Monjack.

As TMZ reported, she was feeling ill before she died.

We're told Brittany had taken prescription drugs before she died -- we're also told authorities discovered a large quantity of prescription drugs at her house after she died.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A Los Angeles hospital spokeswoman says actress Brittany Murphy has died. She was 32.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Spokeswoman Sally Stewart says Murphy died at 10:04 a.m. Saturday. She would not provide a cause of death, or any other information.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Devon Gale says crews responded to a call at 8 a.m. Saturday from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to British screenwriter Simon Monjack, who is married to Murphy. Gale says one person was transported to a hospital.

Details have begun to emerge about Sunday's shocking death of actress Brittany Murphy, 32, which the Los Angeles County coroner's office said appears to have been from natural causes, but an autopsy is expected to be performed within the next couple of days.

Swift was chosen by newspaper editors and broadcast producers across the country in a survey of AP members. She follows last year's winner, Tina Fey, and 2007's pick, Stephen Colbert.

Sunday night Natalie White, a pharmaceutical sales rep from Van Buren, Arkansas, grabbed 7 votes from the jury to become the 19th Ultimate Survivor. Russell Hantz, an oil company owner from Dayton, Texas, and Mick Trimmer, a doctor from LA were the other two finalists on "Survivor: Samoa."

Russell had played one of the most dominant strategic games in the history of the program. After his tribe came into the merge down 8-4, he used wits, competitiveness, and three hidden immunity idols to somehow end up with himself and two of his original tribe mates in the final three.

In a Twitter post on Sunday, the reality-TV star wrote that she is serving as a surrogate mother for her brother and his wife. "That is my xmas present to them. Im pregnant!!!!" she wrote.

The nature of the surrogacy is unclear. Presumably she's carrying the couple's child (as a so-called "gestational surrogate"), though it could be her own biological child, removed from the couple entirely, that she would then relinquish to them.
