The Da:ns Festival was held from 7 October 2011 – 16 October 2011 with free admission to What’s Your Move dance theme held over two weekends at the Stage@Powerhouse located along the waterfront of the Esplanade.  Below are videos of Albert & Melody with friends dancing while they attended the event over the weekend.

Everyone is invited to a Once in a Lifetime Event…. FREE Milonga on 02 Oct Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.

Directions – Circle Line to Farrer Station. Take a walk up the hill opposite Empress Rd Market ( good hawker stalls) Farrer Drive. Arrive at Sommervill Park Blk 79. A 15 storey apartment blk. Inform the guardpost that you are attending the function at the poolside. Walk through the Lobby of Blk 79 to the opposite side faciing the swimming pool/ function room/cafe/minimart is right there.. follow the sound of Tango music:-)))

Free Circle Rides from 10am to 6pm with the opening of 12 new lines on the Circle Line (see http://www.circlelinediscovery.sg/ for more details) .

Mambo Jambo, commonly known as Mambo nights, is a theme clubbing night held every Wednesday
at Zouk in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. It is highly popular among the younger segment of the
clubbing crowd in Singapore, and a Mambo experience is often regarded as an initiation
ritual for many beginners into the local clubbing scene.

Mambo Jambo is a spin of the term mumbo jumbo which fittingly described the type of music
peculiar to the theme night. It began with a somewhat unorthodox mix of 70s and 80s pop hits
and house and over the years, it evolved and incorporated rock, dance and hip hop. A huge
hit with the local clubbers, many imitators tried to follow the ‘retro’ theme formula with
relatively lesser success. Zouk remained the standard bearer for this unique clubbing
experience in Singapore.

There are numerous songs that are well received by the clubbing club. However, the most
popular are those that will rouse the crowd to making their peculiar dance moves. These
moves, usually restricted to hand and upper body movements, are usually expressed in sync
with the songs’ progression and lyrics. Some of these songs includes Bananarama’s Love in
the First Degree, Jason Donovan’s Too Many Broken Hearts and Rick Astley’s Together forever.
