Yesterday, I attended the wedding of 2 dear friends whose love story is like no other (I will save the details of their unmatched story in the full blogpost). And, yes! I was a guest! It is so rare for me to attend the wedding and not be working! So I couldn’t be caught seen without my trusty camera in hand! Other than the traditional wedding gifts, I thought that I would give these two something extra to set their journey into an unforgettable one!

Set at the stunning John MS Lecky UBC Boathouse in Richmond, British Columbia, the couple sealed their nuptials witnessed by their closest friends & family from around the globe! For now, I’d like to leave you with this sneak peek from their day!!!

My Life Will Never Be the Same — off to Haiti

Today, I am embarking on a life-changing experience. And the best part is that I get to share this experience with my hubby / best friend, Lannon.

For those of you who don’t know, I not only have a creative talent of being a photographer, but I also am a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Basically, I help people breathe. I was trained over 10 years ago to run the “life-support” machine. I have seen the sickest-of-the-sick, lived through the episodes of the “ER” tv show, discussed medical mysteries like those on “House” & even rolled my eyes to the drama like that seen on “Grey’s Anatomy.”

We are volunteering 1 week of our time & services to Bernard Mevs Hospital in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. The organization is Project Medishare, and if you wish to contribute in any way please look at their website for more information!

I have actually been terrified of the thought of this experience. I have been emotionally scarred from my experience while working in Saudi Arabia 8 years ago. I fear that a similar experience may hit my emotional trigger again. I want to help, but I am not confident that my skills a Respiratory Therapist will suffice. Only time will tell.

Today I thought that I would share a past wedding from the Jellyfish Restaurant in Punta Cana. John & Lauren travelled from New York to tie the knot on the picture-perfect beach-scapes of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I had the privilege of shooting alongside the talented Katya Nova! Here’s how the day unfolded for these sweet bulldog-lovin’ New Yorkers!

A couple of weeks ago I was asked by the Tutu & Fru girls to photograph some details for them as they toured through the vendors at the 2013 Engage Bridal Show at the Vancouver Club.

Located at the Prestigious Vancouver Club, Engage bridal show is a wedding show not to be missed!

Vancouver Newborn Photographer — Meet Tristan — Michael D Photography .ca

Here’s 10 day old Tristan! A sweet, adorable little soul. He was so quiet & well behaved during our session! Even his parents couldn’t believe it! He was so tolerant of our shenanigans (placing him in baskets, pulling touques over his head, swaddling him up in different fabrics!) Such a cutie <3

And, as always, I love love black & whites with newborn photos; to me they just give a soft & nostalgic feeling to them!

ps- I think Tristan figured out that modelling is a hard gig (considering he slept so peacefully after the shoot!) =)

Punta Cana Wedding Photographer — Day After Session — Michael D Photography .ca

While in Punta Cana last July, I had the awesome chance to shoot Jay & Lisa’s Day After Session. Some call it a Trash the Dress, but if I had to call it something I think I would choose to call it a Rock the Dress session.

Shot at sunrise, the newlyweds met Katya & I at this beach at 6 am! What beautiful light at that time in the morning! Add some beautiful music and some champagne, then voila… magic!
