I finally watched the pilot episode of Glee a few weeks ago and I must say I absolutely loved it! I was supposed to post an entry about it back in June but I forgot and now I’m trying to make up for it just so I can link this entry and put it in my memorable things for June 2009.

According to their official website, Glee is “a one-hour musical comedy that follows an optimistic high school teacher as he tries to transform the Glee Club and inspire a group of ragtag performers to make it to the biggest competition of all: Nationals.” The TV show stars Matthew Morrison, Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Jessalyn Gilsig, Jane Lynch, Jayma Mays^A, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele^B, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Mark Salling and Jenna Ushkowitz. The show’s pilot episode was aired after American Idol last May 19. The rest of the season will air on September 16, 2009.

I can be biased given my love for musicals but then again, I also have musicals that I don’t like that much or not really a big fan of like High School Musical, for example. Glee’s plot and setting may not be original but to me it offers something different than my usual TV shows.^C Also, I find it amazing that they made use of hit songs that you’re familiar with whether they’re current or not (e.g. Amy Winehouse’s Rehab and Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’). They just change the arrangement and add up some choreography. I’ve yet to see the rest of the season but even if I’ve only seen the pilot, I really think the show looks promising.

Anyway, I’m posting 2 videos from the show. The first one is the performance of Amy Winehouse’s Rehab and the second one is the performance of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’. Both performances are just simply amazing! :D

Pushing Daisies offered me something different when it was still airing until ABC decided to cancel it. Boo!

Every Hour On The Hour – June 2009

My very late Every Hour on the Hour for the month of June that I’m only posting a couple of days before I say, “Hello, July!”. This month’s EHOTH was scheduled last June 11 but my younger sister borrowed my digital camera so I went for June 12 instead.

10AM - Wake up, fix the bed and read the day's newspaper. Headline was about the A(H1N1) flu virus or the swine flu.

11AM - Joined my stepdad in watching the NBA Finals. Game 4 of the LA Lakers vs. Orlando Magic. I'm not a big NBA fan but my stepdad was really pissed at the outcome. Derek Fisher did a 3-pointer that made the game go in overtime.

Around 12PM - Lunch time! I just took a photo of the plate minus the utensils and the food. Also, remember the place mats? Haha. Still the same place mats that were also in my EHOTH for May 2009.

I didn’t take a picture when I washed the dishes around 1PM and when I took a nap around 2PM.

Around 3PM - Took a shower. I had a sleepover to attend.

4:30PM - Left the house and rode the FX taxi to go to the North Avenue MRT (Mass Rail Transit) Station. I arrived at the station around 5:20PM then I had to wait a few more minutes for the next train.

5:45PM - Arrived at the Shaw Boulevard MRT Station. Since it was our Independence Day that day, the ride was free! Yaay! Downside though would be the ton of people who took it. We were squeezed like sardines!

6PM - Did some 10-15 minutes of walking from the MRT station to arrive at our meeting place: Shangri-La Mall.

The next couple of hours were spent in the same mall. I met up with Bea, Charm, Cris and Lara (aka “The Adelfa Girls” as we call ourselves) so there were exchanges of hugs and kisses, stories and some grocery shopping.

Around 8PM - Arrived at Bea's house where our sleepover was held. Lara, Charm and I slept on the mattresses while Bea and Cris slept on the big couch.

9PM - We watched "Baby Mama" on HBO. It was my 2nd time to watch it. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are really awesome people.

11:59PM onwards - I usually sleep before 12MN but during sleepovers, I always end up sleeping later than 12MN. I slept at 3AM that time while Bea, Lara and Cris ended up sleeping around 4AM. From 11PM onwards, we ended up just watching TV (some cheering competition on ESPN and then a CSI marathon) and sharing stories as well.

Father’s Day And A Birthday Lunch

Last Sunday, my mom and my stepdad just came home from visiting my younger sister in Baguio City^A I surprised my stepdad for Father’s day by buying him one of those artsy fondant cakes. I chose a basketball-designed one because it reminded me of his love for watching those NBA games. He’s pissed at the LA Lakers winning this year’s finals. Anyway, I took a picture of what was left of his cake the next day. It was really yummy!

The next day, Monday, was Lara’s birthday. She treated me along with 5 of our friends for lunch at ä Veneto Pizzeria Ristorante in TriNoma. We ordered their Pesto with Chicken as well as their Carbonara with Chicken and then a 14″ pizza that I forgot which flavor it was. Their serving was huge and is definitely enough for the 6 of us.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take a picture of the carbonara since it was on HK and Bea’s side of the table which was on the far left side. I was on the right.

We went to Red Mango for dessert afterwards and despite already being full, there will always be room for dessert, as they always say. Red Mango’s specialty is frozen yogurt and waffles and it was our first time to eat there and do some taste-testing. I absolutely love their fro-yo! We all tried their original yogurt instead of the Green Tea flavored one but it’s good that they can give you a taste-test of that one too if you like. It tastes good too but I wasn’t feeling a green tea-flavored one that day so I opted for their original flavor. Also, how can you not love those pretty bowls where they place their fro-yos for dine-in customers? A lovely presentation definitely adds up to the pleasant dining experience.

All in all, it was an awesome day. I really enjoyed it and I believe the birthday celebrant did too. And as I end this post, here’s a belated birthday message for Lara.

Hi lo/ve! I know I already texted my birthday message last Monday but here’s another one. Remember when we used to dedicate a birthday post to each other in the past years and then we suddenly stopped all of a sudden? I don’t know if it’s because we’re getting old or because we already know what each one wishes the other on her birthday so texting is enough. Or maybe it’s both. Anyway, I’ve known you for 6 years now and I can still remember the first time we had a conversation. It was in 2nd year high school and I was 14 years old. I sat behind you in class and instead of the usual “hi/hello” as first conversation, we had X-Men: Evolution! Haha. Who would’ve thought? It was an interesting way to start an awesome friendship and I still laugh every time I think about it. The rest, as they say, is history. We share so many similarities from fandoms to random stuff and when it comes to differences, each wholeheartedly accepts them. Or do I, really? Just kidding. Again, to my original theater buddy, the biggest Kris Allen fangirl I know, the one and only person I can share some Tagalog jologs fangirl-ing with, and the only person I call lo/ve^B, (BELATED) HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love you very, very much! ♥

She’s currently studying and living there.

A Rainy First Week

Classes finally started for me last week after getting postponed last June 9. I was really excited to go back to school because being at home the whole day for another 7 more days with nothing much to do was driving me insane. I just miss doing something school-related even if I usually spend most of my time ranting about it. Also, I really miss my friends.

It was a rainy first week but the gloomy weather didn’t matter that much because my classes this semester are all amazing. My professors are awesome, funny and interesting. I know there’d be a ton of work in all of my subjects especially since I have 4 major subjects right now but I’m really okay with it. I find it weird that all of a sudden I’m acting all studious.

Anyway, I’m posting snapshots of my first day. I wasn’t able to take pictures of the rest of the week though.

June Is Back To School

June is now here which means it’s back to school again^A. Classes were supposed to start this Tuesday, June 9th, but it got postponed due to the Department of Health’s advisory regarding the swine flu (A(H1N1) flu virus). Our country already has 46 A(H1N1) cases so far and 7 of those are students from another university. It’s starting to scare me when I think about it. Our school might soon have its 1st case, who knows? And considering that I ride the public transport, what if one of my fellow passengers is already infected? I’m still hoping for the best though.

Anyway, on the brighter side of things, Kaye and I went shopping for school supplies. We got those pretty and also pricey notebooks from Fully Booked. I’ve always wanted to buy one of those gorgeous notebooks and I think it’s nice to reward myself after a rollercoaster academic year. We also bought some pens and other supplies at National Bookstore. I think it’s quite obvious how excited I am for classes to finally start. LOL

I remember when I was in grade school, my favorite part of this whole “back-to-school” thing is the shopping for supplies. I used to love having a new bag, new notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, art materials, and other stuff. But now? Not so much anymore. I still buy new school things every now and then but not as much as I used to. I don’t mind using last year’s or last semester’s notebook as long as it still has unused pages. I’ve resorted to using binders since high school because they’re much easier to refill when I run out of blank pages. I’m still using the same file case since high school and my pencil case is 3 years old. The only school thing I buy frequently these days is a pen because I usually end up having a pen that only lasts a few days due to ink problems^B. I hope they make a decent pen that’s actually cheap because even the expensive ones that you think are decent turn out causing the same ink problems.

I have one more week left before the start of classes and I can’t wait to use my spiffy new notebook and pens (I bought 3 to make sure I have a back-up in case one of them suddenly “runs out of ink”.) Here’s to being more productive this semester! :D

P.S. I changed the layout to a pre-made one because I’m too busy to create a new one from scratch though I had plans to make one last month. Layout block sucks!
