SlowExposures is a juried photo exhibit that celebrates the rural South. They are accepting applications to be in the show at this time. The show takes place in the Concord/Molena/Zebulon area to the west of Macon.

South by Southeast Photomagazine brings you everything about fine art photography in the Southeast. From gallery shows to museum exhibitions, book reviews, photo festivals, the best of the blogs written about Southern photography, interviews with gallery directors, photographers, museum curators and collectors of the South, along with articles and galleries of 9 – 12 featured artists each month.

At the meeting, we will be giving out a username and password that will work at the photomagazine’s website to give you access for the month of May! You may just decide to subscribe after checking out the great photos, articles, and information.

Doors open at 6:30 and the meeting begins at 7:00pm. The meeting is held in the basement on the right side of the Northminster Presbyterian Church, 565 Wimbish Rd in Macon (just off of I-75).

Please take note of the parking locations as that you must have a Department of Defense ID to park on base this year. The general public will park off base at one of three locations and be catch a free shuttle bus to the air show area.

This Saturday, 7th April is the annual  Bluebird and Bluegrass Festival at

This fun-filled event is free. Children 10 years and younger may enjoy an Easter egg hunt at 11:00 a.m.

• Also enjoy moonwalks, spider-bungee jump, rock climbing wall, and more.
• There will also be booths represented by wildlife and outdoor recreation organizations.
• Walk round the animal enclosures. Usually lots of flowers in bloom. Plenty to photograph!
• Food and drink will be available for purchase, or bring a picnic and listen to the music.
• Also it is near High Falls State Park and Indian Springs State Park

We will be reviewing members’ March theme photos (FREEZE FRAME) and some members’ cheese grater & snoot photos from the first March “shootout” program.

Bring your camera and your camera manual to the meeting. We will discuss how your camera shutter works, how to use your flash to freeze motion, and using rear and front curtain shutter settings with flash sync. Doors open at 6:30 pm. meeting starts at 7:00. Our presenter will be Binks Solomon.

We will also be collecting the first cycle print images. So bring those prints with you! Remember that you can enter up to 3 color prints and 3 monochrome prints. There is a fee of $2 per category ($2 for the colors and $2 for the monochromes) to help cover the cost of shipping them to the judges. Please note that the meeting this week is the due date for all members to have paid their dues for the year. If you have not paid, you will not be eligible for any photo competitions, nor will you continue to receive emails and such….so please bring your checks with you, if you have not already paid for 2012.

And finally, if you made it to our last meeting and have worked on your cheese grater photos, please hold onto them! We will look at a few of those not at this Thursday’s meeting, but at the following one.

The 30th Cherry Blossom Festival includes nightly concerts March 16-25, the bed race and the balloon glow on March 17, the parade on March 18, the Street Party on March 24, and Fireworks on March 25.

Full Moon Euphoria at Riverside Cemetery on April 6. Photographing at night, in the cemetery, under a full moon. Very cool stuff! Limited number of photographers allowed.

Bluebirds and Bluegrass Festival at Dauset Trails Nature Center is a free event on April 7 that includes bluegrass bands, exhibits, and of course their animals.

You will also want to bring your camera and flash with you to the meeting. Chuck has some sort of shooting competition in mind! You are also asked to bring an empty clear 16oz soda bottle. Hmmm, sounds interesting!
