Since this good weather has caught some people unprepared, we remind you to bring certain essentials: shades, a broad-brimmed sun hat, and tan lotion, #4 for that perfect almost-burnt look. We also recommend wearing your bikini (man-kinis for the guys).

Well folks, it's been a slice. But we've reached the end of our little Pop Montreal preview podcast journey for this year. Luckily for you, it's only Friday and there's plenty of time to get out there and enjoy the festival's indie-tastic offerings. Almost there folks. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel (and we hope that's not a bad thing). Our special series of preview podcasts for Pop Montreal is almost done (check here for episodes #1, #2 and #3). Suffering only from mild exhaustion and severe vocal chord scars, my gracious and grandiose co-host Greg Bouchard and I try to get you excited for Pop's Saturday night line-up.

Strange then that we're already at the halfway point of our Pop Preview podcasts, but that's how the time space continuum works (check here if you missed episode #1 and #2). Helping me out with this episode are not one but two glorious co-hosts: the ornery but organized Greg Bouchard and the excitable but eloquent Risa Dickens, who tells us about an Indyish showcase she's got happening on Friday night.

One more day until the city succumbs to the sounds of Pop Montreal. We're so excited here at Midnight Poutine, we've tattooed POP MTL 4 EVAH into our butts. Actually, all we've really done is started a ridiculously and meticulously long series of podcasts to celebrate the festival's best tunes. For this 2nd episode (check out #1 here), I'm joined by my bold yet brittle co-host Greg Bouchard, who I subjected to over 14 hours of "hilarious" podcast outakes from previous episodes before allowing him to grab the mic.

Since 5 days of music, art, film, and other eclectic events can be overwhelming to sift through, we here at Midnight Poutine headquarters are going to do our best to help you out. Throughout the week we'll have previews and reviews of the fest's bests, and other handy tips for how to make it through a week of musical mayhem. As in years past, we're also putting together a marathon series of podcasts for your listening pleasure. One podcast for each day of the festival, starting today and ending when we collapse at the microphone from sheer sonic exhaustion. I check in with Emma Valentiner about a "spontaneous" sonic event that's being "organized" in town on Sunday, and play selections from a bunch of Polaris Prize nominees. This is in anticipation of the big gala on Monday in Toronto, where one of the ten nominees will be awarded $20,000 and the understated fame that can only come from being a Canadian indie darling.

And while we know this is crushing news for you, the corollary is that this week's show features a double shot of Montreal music goodness. We talk about tunes by amazing little-known acts, the August Mini M showcase, and we've even got a new track from the mysterious but absolutely gorgeous Reverie Sound Revue. If there's any justice in this oh-so fickle music world, more people will know about this band.
