I'm heading to LA in August - doing the usual tourist stuff. Looking for recommendations for lunch spots. Preferably in the WeHo, Beverly Hills, Hollywood area.
Are most trucks downtown?
I'll also have one day for lunch in the Santa Monica / Venice beach area, if there's anything good there as well.

because we don't have a 53rd/6th ave here in la, I'm dying for the half chicken/half lamb rice plate with extra white sauce!! (and can't afford the plane ticket just to eat this lol) is there anything remotely close to it here in la?? it obviously won't be coming from a cart but even from a hole in the wall would be wonderful. please help!!

This "hole in the wall" has some of the freshest, best tasting Chinese food I've had in LA. I live around the corner and go there at least once a week. Their lunch menu is a great deal - $5 for a generous serving of one of their signature dishes and either steamed or fried rice.

So... I'm a huge fan of the all you can eat buffet. But there was only one non-Indian all you can eat buffet in Midtown Manhattan. (Very upsetting!)

I know there are more here in L.A.... especially in K-Town. Anybody have some good recommendations?

So... during my first stint in L.A. I was a huge fan of Mario's Peruvian. Love the saltado with mariscos. But since then I've heard there are far better places. What are these magical other places called? And where can I find them?
