This was a lot of fun. We first came into the area a spooked these elk off but about a half hour after we sat down we had them come back in to the wallers. Dan Woodland and I sat and got to experience an awesome evening watching these awesome animal.
Needless to say I never found the cow I shot that night.

February Trip to Moab

We took a quick trip to Moab at the end of February. The kids had a swim meet so we decided to make a quick weekend trip out of it. We took Friday off which allowed us to travel down thursday night. We took the new 4 wheelers, as well as one of my moms wheelers. I planned out a trail we could take with the kids. We parked at the 7 mile rim area right off the highway. We traveled up the dirt road on the wheelers and headed for Tusher tunnel. This is a neat spot. The family enjoyed seeing this place and had fun playing around. From there we traveled toward Determination towers. Along the way we explored one of the canyon along the way. We stopped and had as snack, climbed on the rocks and enjoyed the beauty surrounding us before heading back down the road to determination towers. The weather was cloudy and had been raining but not on us so far.
At Determination Towers we made a sandwich had some lunch, took some pictures, then headed down the trail.
Our next stop was wipe out hill. There was a small challenge before we got to the hill, but nothing too bad, At Wipeout hill we stopped, looked around and explained to the kids that people come here with their jeeps just to climb this hill. From there we drove around Merimac butte to Monitor butte then followed the 7 mile rim trail over to Uranium Arch.
Here we had to spends some time climbing around under the arch as well as on top of the arch. We took some pictures before heading down the trail and back to the Rocket ( that is what we call our ford expedition). The tip took around 6 hours to complete. It was a little long for the little ones but they all enjoyed this trail.

Satruday we went to the swim meet. While we were there it rained and rained. It was nice to not be out in the rain. After the swim meet we met up with my brother and sister and their families and went on another 4 wheeler ride. This time we rode out to Gemini bridges. We first rode to the top. We did get rained on but only a little bit.
After the short hike down to see the arches from the top side and taking some pictures we rode down to the bottom side and made the short hike to see the arches from the bottoms side. After that we headed back out. We figured it was going to start raining a little bit harder. It was also getting a bit cold. On the way back we did take a little side trail to see an area of camp sites. The little canyon was a pretty neat little place.

Sunday we rode out the Canyon Lands, Island in the Sky. The first hike we make was down to Mesa Arch. This is one of the neatest arches I have seen. The hike was easy and the view was spectacular. After we spent a fair amount of time there we headed down the raod. Not having a lot of time left we went straight to the end of the road to the Grand View look out. We took a couple pictures, used the bathroom and headed back out.
The trip was short and rainy but a lot of fun. I can't wait to go back again. With out the rain.

Escalante Trip

In the fall of 2015 we went on a trip down to southern Utah for one of our adventures.We explored the escalante area. We hiked spooky gulch and peekaboo gulch. We saw arches, hiked washes, traveled many dirt roads. And was able to explore and see some amazing things.

I hope this enspires you to plan a trip to see the vast beauty this area has to offer.

We did miss having our 2 older girls on this trip. They would have enjoyed it. I guess we will have to go back. Darn the bad luck.

New wheelers

I bought a 2 new 4 wheelers. Honda rubicon. I decided to go with the honda reliability and take care of them hoping they will last 20 years.

My goal is to take my family out camping and enjoying the beautiful mountains here in utah and possibly elsewhere. I enjoy riding in the mountains. Seeing the beauties God has created as well as the challenges that come from hiking g and riding trails.

I hope this will provide a way for my family to be close and bond for lasting friendship. I would like to but one more wheeler but it's not in the budget yet. Maybe in a year or two.

We have already enjoyed some time in the snow with sleighs pulled behind. Took a ride up to the hills with my wife and saw some deer. Then with Brenton. Then later with Daniella.

My accident

April 18th I broke 1,2,3 metatarsals on my right foot as well as dislocated 4,5 (lisfranc). I also broke 1st metatarsal on my left foot as well as 2 fractures of my heal. External hardware.

May 3rd Hardware was put in.

June 27th partial weight bearing in boots. This was exciting and easier than I thought. But I soon got tired of the boots.

July 13th full weight bearing in shoes. Excited to move to the next stage. Therapy started along with more progress. I looked forward to therapy.

July 28th surgery to remove hardware, back in boots for 2 weeks. This was difficult. Didn't make it in the boots the full 2 weeks.

September 14th no medical restrictions. I still can't run or jump. I can't stand on my toes. My feet ache all the time. Mostly in the joints. Ankle, toes, and arch of my foot.

Today. I can jog slowly for a short distance. I can stand on my toes, mostly. I can jump about 4 inches off the ground. But my joints still ache. My toes, ankle and arch (planter fasciitis). I have remained positive most of the time. And I still do. Progress is slow. The pain causes me to walk funny but I try to walk normal (heal, toe) despite the pain. Some days i take ibuprofen but most days I live with the pain. A lot of stretching and resting helps. Stay positive remember what it was like and know that is how it will be again. You are what you think.
