Episode 6 of Dread at the Controls was sent to us shortly before Mikey’s passing, and unfortunately we don’t have a tracklisting to present for you. Still, you’ll recognize several of his selections, and it stands as one damn fine hour+ of roots reggae music. This episode is arguably one of the last things he produced, and we’re eternally grateful to have known the man and experienced first hand his immeasurable passion for life, music, and especially his roots.

Included below the download is a large zip file containing all six episodes of Dread at the Controls. Please, spread it around via bittorrent. Burn them to CD. Crank them in your backyard. Enjoy them with fine wine or fine herbs. Most importantly, remember that Mikey’s own music lives on at www.mikeydread.com, and his extensive catalog is still available for purchase.

In Jamaica the DJ (man or woman) who works the microphone at a party, or dance, or studio recording is called the DJ. But in Jamaica the man or woman who PLAYS the music is called “The Selector.”

In the UK, the DJ on the record and sound system is called a “Toaster!!”
