Here are some landscape shots from the whole little walk. The local municipal was in the midst of preparing for the Singapore F1 so there’s a lot of areas where they have started to put up boundaries, fences and so forth making some of the more scenic shots look plain ugly.

So yeah, you can catch me at Shivz on Thursday as well where I’ll be spinning a lot of Lambada Zouk tunes on top of some Bachata and a few Salsa thrown in (so that I can at least have a few dance myself).The majority type of Zouk I play on these nights is the Neo-Zouk where the music is mixed and fused with trance and modern music with basic Zouk beats, the original French or Portuguese lyrics are ommitted as Neo-Zouk ethuthiasts have better connection with transcendental music. For the you, especially with this genre of dance and all these new terms you’re reading, you can swing by at 9.00pm onwards where Cherie Thum would conduct a small introductory workshop for beginners to the world of Lambada-Zouk, more precisely, the Porto Seguro-style.

The Porto Seguro-style differs from the Zouk in the way the steps are performed on the music. To put it simple, Rio-style zouk is danced on the dominant beat (1,3,4″slow-quick-quick”), while Porto Seguro-style is danced on the small beats (1,2,3=”quick-quick-slow”). In general the Porto Seguro-style is more suitable for fast tempo music, while Rio style zouk is more suitable for slow tempo music. It is also very common practice to switch fluently between these dancing styles during a single Zouk music song.

Jaxen on the other hand teaches the Rio-style Zouk (also called Carioca Lambada meaning Rio-style Lambada), was first developed in Rio de Janeiro. It is mainly danced in Brazil (Rio and Brasilia), Australia, The Netherlands, Spain and some other European countries. It uses a modified, slower, smoother, even more sensual version of the lambada and is typically danced on Zouk-love style music. In the Netherlands this dance style goes under the name of zouk-love.

You must be wondering by now, what the heck am I talking about with all this Lambada la, Zouk la. Well, according to Wikipedia (tsk where else would I get these information right?): Zouk-Lambada (also called Lambada-Zouk or Brazilian Zouk) is a group of closely related dance styles based on or evolved from the lambada dance style and is typically danced to zouk music or other music containing the zouk beat.

The name Brazilian Zouk is used to distinguish the dance from the Caribbean Zouk dance style, which is historically related to, but very different from the Lambada dance style. The two dominant styles of Zouk-Lambada are the Porto-Seguro style and the Rio-style. The word Lambazouk is often used to refer exclusively to one or the other style depending on the region you live. The word Lambazouk was originally used to refer to the dance style developed by Daniel and Leticia Estévez López. The Zouk-Lambada dancing styles are among the most popular non-ballroom dances for couples in Brazil, others being Forró, Lambada, Samba de gafieira and Salsa.

The experience was amazing, our journey into the world of Formula 1 Pit Crew begun when we were ushered into a room where the Johnnie Walker Britain’s engineers run us through the various do and don’t that we have to observe as a team and tips on how to run a successful race team which the 6 of us got to be for the day. Our team name? JW1, simple and powerful I must say.

The team was organized into a Team Manager: Michael Yip (Myself ler!), Team Co-Ordinator: Noel, Race Engineer: Andy, Data Engineer: Dawn Yang and Mechanics: Reshmonu and Elf. This is the way we were sorted for the day for the preparation, practice runs, qualifying and race ‘day’.

We had to be sorted out into various positions too for the pit stop as there’s only 6 of us instead of more. So Myself and Dawn was on the lifts (cleverly assigned by me, since I’m the team manager and I’m too lazy to run, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA), Wheel Gunners which is Andy and Elf and Noel and Reshmonu handles the tyre changes.

After we got ourselves fitted with our own headsets and introduced to the garage area and our driver, Mr. Robbie Kerr as well as 2 properly trained professional F1 mechanics (yes, even though they assigned us into teams and our own designations, they still don’t really trust us in running the set-ups ourselves). We got ourselves together where we worked out some of the finer details of how to function more efficiently as a team. We tried to utilize the headset (we were supposed to communicate with each other via the head-set only) to communicate a lot but I also use the trusty pen and paper a lot too!

No one helped us took photos of us in action using my cam so I have to use this as an example. Girl in a race overall is just hot right?

In the 4 hours we were there, we had to make sure the car get it’s base set-up correct, the minimum weight was adhere to, all the tyre pressures are correct (12 at rear and 14 at front), the car was spotless (Reshmonu volunteered to be the Car Care Center of the team and made sure the car was spotless and waxed til the end of it’s life) and the driver was ready to race. Dawn Yang was fantastic as the Data Engineer (boy! glad we had her in our team and appointed her correctly!) as we had all our calculations spot on from the weight, fuel set-up for practice, qualifying and race as well as our timing during the race. Thanks Dawn!

Here’s a break down of what our roles had us do, as the team manager, I had to make sure the team runs properly and we win at all the things we do by planning ahead. I am also the cheerleader of the team as I was the loudest and as talkative on the headset as Reshmonu. The Team Co-Ordinator (Noel) ensured that everyone knows what they are doing, where everyone is and where things go (or that was what I made him do aka abusing my power as the Team Manager). Race Engineer (Andy) was in charge of making sure the driver’s there on time for all the driving bits (or I’ll jump into the car and drive it myself), communicating instructions and set-up preference between drivers and his team of mechanics, on top of that,  I was constantly bugging him on the headsets to the annoyance of everyone asking him to double check and triple check everything and talk to the race driver on ensuring the best set-up was placed to get the winning car we hope to get.

Data Engineer (Dawn Yang) was there to do all the calculation bits (FINE! I didn’t trust the guys when it comes to maths! See! at least I admit it) and boy, I was so glad that I made the right choice. She got all our calculations spot on and was told by the JW Britain engineers that she was very efficient at it too! (We gained points in this part while the other team made a few mathematical errors and lost points there. BWAHAHAHA)

The Mechanics (Reshmonu and Elf) was in-charge of doing the actual set-up of the car with input from the data engineer, race engineer and the drivers, by adjusting the wings and tyre pressures as well as making sure there’s no obstruction to the radiator pots as well as handling the car when we need to get the car weight at the start and in between qualifying and race. I strongly belief we were amazing as a team (and also cause the JWB guys told us also). We rake in points as a team and won the Qualifying Pit-Stop Contest thanks to the efficient communication among the team members.

We got into our race suits prior to the race where we had to put the car through 10 laps to clock the fastest time. I admit that we didn’t win the race and we wasn’t the fastest at the race pit stop but we still managed to beat the other team that was all guys! Roshan Narayan (of Mix.FM) and Richard Augustin with their team gave us a run for our money but a win is a win, and Reshmonu and myself made sure Roshan didn’t forget it (bloody mean of us but it was all for a good laugh).

By 2something near to 3am, we decide to leave, so I went to collect my car, got in, started the engine and locked my doors then I see this young malay guy kept slapping his hands on my window. I just look at him and he look like he was trying to start a fight, so the only reaction I know was to drive off rather than stand my ground to start a fight. As I drove off, I heard louder knocks on my car’s body (which I later found out was caused by helmets which has left dents around the car), ok, I panicked and I tried to find the fastest way out of that area cause I don’t want things to turn nasty, and next thing I know, some dude jumped onto the bonnet of my car and start jumping on it, my windscreen got smashed and punches start raining down on me.

Only thing I know or instinctively did was to try and block as much shots as I can that was going towards my eyes and nose. And before I knew it, my car keys was gone, part of my steering wheel was ripped out of it’s housing and windscreens got smashed and more punches was thrown in. I could only just let the punches continue until they get tired cause I doubt anyone would dare to come in between them and me. What felt like ages of continuous punches suddenly stopped when I heard someone started to shout at these people. Truthfully, if you ask me how many people attacked me, I wouldn’t know. I guess around the region of 15 – 20 people cause everything was a blur to me as it happened so fast.

Found out that the guy is a police officer and he started to chase the crowd away before two more officers in a patrol car showed up. They asked the crowd what happened and someone started telling them that I knocked into someone in front of the Nasi Lemak Antarabangsa shop (I was just starting my car, how would I be knocking into someone when my car wasn’t even moving yet?). The cops then interviewed me and try to find out what happened, I explained to them exactly as what I’ve written here except for the fact that @jasontkb and @euveng was my friends (they came up to me to check on me). The reason for that? I don’t want those malay guys to target them when they walk to their car after I head off to the police station. So I told the cops that both of them were passer by and they offer to help me with my injuries.

That’s basically about what happened. Took the tow truck 30minutes to show up cause my car keys (along with my camera bag that contains some lenses and a compact video camera as well as my blackberry) was missing from my car and I can’t drive myself to the police station to make a report. By the time we got to the police station, the cops told me to get myself over to HKL as they scared that I lost a lot of blood (well, a black color shirt was totally reddish might have helped to scare them). The doc took a look at me, clean me up and send me back home so here I am, recounting what happened to me earlier.

Thank You to all of you who asked about me (on Twitter & Facebook) and tried calling me on my mobile. Don’t have a mobile anymore so I’ve suspended my line until I can get a replacement phone (not in the near future cause whatever money I’ve made will go to getting my car fixed. Right now, I’m in my bed, feeling stoned, my nose and the upper part of my cheek area is still bleeding and I could feel some parts of my right side start to get swollen. Other than that, I’m still who I am. Thank You again everyone.

As there’s only limited choice of what you can order at IKEA, I ordered the Chicken Drumstick meal which consist of a piece of baked chicken leg served with coleslaw, mashed potato and baby carrots on the side. The way it’s prepared is basically similar to the way it’s prepared in IKEA@Mutiara Damansara except that here, they use baby carrots while the one in Malaysia served with sliced carrots.

The other meal ordered was the Baked Salmon, served with potatoes and vegetables topped with some cream sauce. The sauce itself isn’t too heavy that it didn’t drown out the salmon and it’s thicker than the Malaysia version which is quite watery. The Salmon’s also very fresh and isn’t over done so it won’t fall apart at the slightest touch.

The reason why I love the food at IKEA Singapore more than IKEA Malaysia? Their Swedish Meatballs! What’s so special about the meatballs in IKEA Singapore? Simple! …. There’s … PORK inside! Yups! It taste different, doesn’t have that smelly beef smell to it and it taste awesome! OK, I might be going overboard with how wonderful it taste but if you’ve not tried the Pork Meatballs, you’re at a lost. Seriously. Definitely worth a trip back there just for the meatballs any time.

As we roughly knew what we wanted to order, it was quite simple and straight forward. The 1st pot to arrive is the restaurant’s signature dish, the Chicken Hot Pot. The sauce it was served in was thick and mildly spicy and they did not hold back in filling the pot up with meat and vegetables. You can inform them how spicy you want the meal to be so they will serve to you according to your tolerance level.

The next pot to arrive is the Dinosaur Rib /Pork Rib Hot Pot. Aptly named as it does look like Dinosaur bones when you look into the pot. Just like the chicken hot pot, it is served with a thick and spicy sauce with plenty of vegetables inside. But somehow for this pot, there’s a lot of onions too! I’m not complaining cause I do like my onions but it’s not something for everyone.

Aside from these two dishes, they do have plenty of other varieties of dishes readily available. Definitely a place I’d go back to again as there’s a few other dishes I ate last time around that i missed this time.
