I’ve been making lots of rings lately and I’m always thinking ahead and wondering how best to display these at craft fairs. In the past I’ve displayed them in individual ring boxes and didn’t think this had much impact, so then I tried to adapt one of the cases the silver teaspoons came in, but this was too shallow and so it didn’t work very well. So this week I’ve done a bit of a hunt online and found this brilliant tutorial posted by PlaidCrafter or the Cut Out + Keep website.

I thought I’d share it with you…

The tutorial suggests you need the following items:

Cigar Box
Sweater
Scissors
Glue Gun

But I guess any interesting box would do and if you don’t have an old felted sweater you could always use [...]

I have just listed 9 new Elasticated Buttons Bracelets in my shop. Please visit the Milomade Shop to see the whole collection. These bracelets are all created from a vast stash of shirt buttons I have amassed over the years and I team these up with new similar sized colourful buttons to form simple patterns in long strands that can then be made into bracelets. Such a simple idea transforms buttons into something beautiful to cherish and wear. They are nice and stretchy and comfortable to wear and will fit most wrists.

These bracelets often remind people of the confectionery type bracelets and necklaces you could buy at the sweet shop as a child. I’m not sure if this type of confectionery jewellery is still made, but that’s the memory these bracelets evoke.

Just a quick post to sing the praises of www.zibbet.com. I’ve only been a registered user for a few months and have only just got round to adding products to my shop, but I love the site. I have a Premium Account and with this can customise my shop, list as many items as I like, don’t have to pay any listing fees or have any commission taken off my sales. I can even create coupons and discount codes – something I will be taking advantage of soon. All this and there’s more in the pipeline too.

So Zibbet is only ever going to get better. Whenever I’ve had an issue, an email to the support team has resulted in a very quick response and very quick fixes to bugs and issues. This is the complete opposite of what I’ve experienced on other shop sites I’ve been [...]

I’ve been busy today taking lots of photographs of my products for my online shop and have just listed 12 new Button Flower Brooches.
I used to give all my products individual names, but this got quite tricky after naming so many and now I’ve decided to just name them according to colour. There are lots of colours and combinations to choose from so you’re bound to be able to find something to match a specific outfit or jacket – they looks great on winter coats or woolly jumpers and cardigans and [...]

The Wow Thank You! website went live today. It’s a new e-commerce site promoting the talents of artisan from all over the UK. At launch there are around 1000 products for sale, alot of which are unique on-off items – that’s quite impressive!

“WowThankYou encourages the general public to look beyond the shopping centres and buy unique, home-grown, gifts instead. Promoting the work of 230 small, often home-based, businesses WowThankYou is providing an online outlet for selected artisans who usually sell only through regional craft fairs.”

Milomade is among these 230 artisans and you can find my profile on the site here – I only have a few items listed at the moment, but hoping to get a load more up there quite soon.

WowThankYou has been set up by friends Tracey Kifford and Georgena Bowdidge who lovingly sign off all correspondence with [...]

Less of the bells on her toes though – as I’d just like to let you know that I’ve listed a set of new rings in my shop – rings for your fingers – more to come soon. They are all made from sets of sterling silver teaspoons and therefore come in small limited editions. When you buy one of these rings you will be safe in the knowledge that only a few other rings like it exist.

Sourcing, restoring and re-purposing antique silverware into unique delicate jewellery is something I really enjoy. I much prefer to use fine silverware as a starting point for my jewellery as this way I am recycling rather than using up the world’s natural resources. There is a sense of history with each piece and I feel that as I am forming each ring, sanding and polishing it, I am capturing a memory or [...]

At last I’ve managed to grab a bit of spare time and figure out how to incorporate my Zibbet shop with my website. So you will now be able to view all the items for sale on this page of my website. I’ve only got a few earrings listed at the moment, but in March I’ll be adding the whole range of products I create.

Here’s a taster:

So instead of having to worry about managing my website shop and many online shops at the same time, I’ve decided to streamline everything into one shop at Zibbet.com – so I will soon be closing my Coriandr shop as I’d prefer to keep everything in one place – this makes it easier for me, but also easier for my customers, plus with Zibbet i don’t have any listing fees which is [...]

I’ve been very busy of late, not only creating new stock for existing and new stockists, but also coming up with some new products too. I’ve been working with my sea glass collection of late. I’ve got draws and boxes overflowing with the sea glass I pick up on the beach every day that it was about time I started making jewellery with it.

Last year I made a few pieces for craft fairs and the earrings I made sold quite well. Here is an image I took recently of a simple pair:

Holes were drilled into two pieces of glass that I managed to pair up. I then used a thin gauge of silver wire to wire wrap them and then attached them to a pair of my hand crafted silver earwires. I need to make some more of these, but I might get an even thinner gauge of wire [...]
