We’ve got some really amazing gifts from friends, neighbours and family and I couldn’t resist posting these images of Milo modelling his knitwear collection.

The jumper is adorable and he got this from our friend Sarah, along with some other amazing items. It’s a little bit big for him, but it’s so soft and cosy and perfect for evening outings in the pram, I couldn’t wait to put it on him and I guess it’ll just seem smaller each day as he grows a little bigger.

The socks are from Catherine & Co who live round the corner from us and are equally just as adorable. They’re hand knitted by a lady called Morag Tweedie and he looks so sweet in them – they’ll definitely keep his feet and legs warm when it’s cold – perfect for living in our house as it’s still a bit drafty.

Honestly – only a few weeks old and he’s already getting fan mail!

A parcel arrived for Milo recently, which was very exciting – I love the fact that it was addressed to him and not to me or Colin. I could tell from the packaging who it was from – all the lovely ladies at Fife Contemporary Art & Craft up in St Andrews.

When we opened the envelope, out popped a little purple fluffy bunny – so adorable and cute and just the perfect size for Milo’s little hands. He grabbed it straight away and hugged it close and it inevitably got a good dose of saliva as he promptly plonked it in his mouth to check it out properly. It’s got long floppy ears – perfect for little hands to grab hold of.

He loves it – and we love it too. It’s [...]

So you’re probably wondering ‘Where the hell is Evie?’ and ‘Why isn’t she blogging anymore?’ – well – you might also be wondering ‘has she had that baby yet?’

The answer to that is yes I have and I’m happy to announce the arrival of baby Milo Andrews who ’shot’ (quite literally like a champagne cork) into the world on the 4th April 2012. He was due on the 14th of April but chose to come 10 days early weighing in at a healthy 8lbs and 10oz (so I’m quite glad he came early to be honest!!!).

And here he is – soon after being born…

Labour started on the Monday night and then subsided during the day on Tuesday and then started up again with gusto at 7pm after I got my ’show’. Colin arrived home from work at that point and we weren’t sure if this was our ‘Thunderbirds are go’ [...]

I love a bargain and George at Asda has been happy to comply recently. I bought two dresses in the sale recently for £3 each and love them both. They’re both brightly patterned and so much more comfy than trousers at the moment.

They’re stretchy, go over the bump and more importantly brightly coloured. I love my latest buy best as it’s so colourful and bright. This is good for me as I’m constantly spilling stuff, especially food, all over the place and a nice bright pattern like this hides all my spills!

Colin took these photo’s in the kitchen the other day…

Valentines day is upon us at last and I had an order from my online shop recently which got me all a a flutter. As the delivery address was different from the billing address I was convinced it was a gift. So I got in touch with the customer and asked if it was a valentines gift, as I’d be happy to include a little card with a message…

The customer got back in touch with me and said it was indeed a gift and said he’d be delighted if I added a card with a message and let me know what he would like this to say.

I love a bit of romance! So I printed out his message on a red card heart. My packaging is all red anyway, so once the gift was wrapped up the red heart was stuck to this to seal it up instead of one [...]

Because of my pregnancy I’ve hardly been up to the allotment since last year (it’s at the top of a very steep hill). I braved it recently, just to see how much clearing up I needed to do before planting new stuff out this year and was pleasantly surprised.

One of the things I’d planted and tried to grow for the first time ever was a patch of leeks. I also planted a few in our garden, and they still look like spring onions and haven’t done very well. The ones up at the allotment however actually look like leeks, I was amazed!

They’re still a bit small, so I think I’ll leave them in the ground for a bit longer, but I’m chuffed to bits as I’ve never grown leeks before. Maybe it’s beginners luck as I’d never grown peas before either and we had a bumper crop of those last [...]

Pregnant though I may be, I’m still very active on the DIY front even though in only small short bursts. I’ve been busy over the past few weeks trying to get my studio painted and just doing it bit by bit and it’s going really well.

Colin kindly sanded all the walls for me and as they’re a mix of freshly plastered bits and old plastered/painted bits, I’ve been doing a white wash of watered down paint on the walls this week and I’ve managed two coats so far and this weekend will be painting it for real.

I’ve gone for white as I want a really bright space, but also opted to paint one wall with a colour and at the moment I’m in love with green and so that’s what it’s going to be. I originally wanted a really bright vivid green, but have changed my mind so many times.

One of the lovely gifts I received for my birthday this year was an Amazon gift voucher (thanks Kenny & Jose). So I treated myself to a couple of books and one of these arrived today. It looks amazing and I cant wait to get stuck in and try out some new techniques and ideas.

The book contains loads of examples of working with metals like copper and brass as well as silver and I can’t wait to get stuck in. All the projects are great and cover a different aspect of metalwork. I’m particularly excited about the section on etching as I’ve wanted to try this out for ages.

I have a huge pile of copper pipes, that I salvaged from our kitchen renovation, to recycle and so expect to see lots of new work cropping up over the next few months as I’ll be playing and experimenting and coming up [...]

These lovely brooches are a new range I am adding to my craft jewellery collection. I was going to wait until the new year, but couldn’t resist adding them to my online shop straight away. I’ve got a huge batch of vintage zips in a range of colours and lengths, so the brooches come in a few different sizes. I’ve only made a few so far, so there will be more to come soon.

Here are some images of the colours/sizes avaialble at the moment:

I got a ring order this week for one of my lovely Pamuya rings – it’s the last one in this limited set unfortunately – and the customer wanted me to add an antique patina to it. The final result is amazing and I wish I’d added a patina to the other ones I’ve made in the past as it works really well with this design.

Here are some photo’s a took before packaging the ring off and sending it to Germany…

The last photo shows a close up of the hallmark indicating that the ring is sterling silver and was made in 1904 by Walker and Hall in Sheffield. I can’t remember where I discovered this set of spoons, but they are really special and the design is absolutely gorgeous – it was sad to see the last one leave my studio, but it’s going to a good home and I’m [...]

I was in Aberdour this morning taking the dog to the vet and for the first time in ages my visit coincided with the small antique shop being open – yay! I’ve not been in there since I moved to Kinghorn and they had some lovely silver spoons in the window, so I had to pop in and rummage around.

I didn’t have much time so I only managed to get my hands on one set. It’s a really lovely set of Edward Viners spoons and I’ve had this design before and the rings I made from them were really popular.

As I was leaving the shop, I noticed a lot of cutlery boxes piled up in one corner, so I enquired whether they’d be open tomorrow afternoon. Luckily they will be so I’ll be able to go in after my craft fair ends and have a good root [...]
