In fact that happened last month, but we’re so busy we haven’t had a chance to blog about it. Our registration now stands at 168, 27 more than our previous best year (2009), and we still have more than three months to go.

Does this mean there are a whole lot of new people? Well, there are some new people, but the increase is due more to returning Mindcampers. In fact as things stand now the percentage of registrants who are new to Mindcamp (42%) is the lowest it has ever been.

What does this mean to you? If you’ve been meaning to come but haven’t registered, do it now. We’re 3/4 full and starting to count down the remaining spaces.

Last year we brought in an amazing innovation… amazing to us, anyway. We actually counted the number of people who attended each session.

What we discovered surprised us: during any given program slot, about 25% of Mindcamp participants were NOT in a program. Where were they? Some were preparing for later sessions or taking care of non-Mindcamp business, but a sizeable chunk were, we think, taking time out to enjoy the site.

This year our location, though different, is equally awesome, and offers even more non-program things to do. So we are going to offer something more too: the opportunity to enjoy it without having to miss Mindcamp programs.

You can elect to stay over, this year, on Sunday night at a special price ($130 budget, $160 shared, $200 single, including meals). This means that you could have Sunday afternoon/evening and Monday morning to wander the trails, enjoy the beach, or just chill with the other Mindcampers who chose to hang in. You’ll also miss the Sunday afternoon traffic back into the city.

If you’re interested in this option and have already registered, just email us. And if you haven’t registered yet, then be sure to tick the “Stay Sunday” box on the registration form.

We’ve been hard at work on the logistics of helping people get from the airport to Mindcamp, a 2-hour drive, and now have enough information to inform your flight arrangements. Here’s the skinny:

The Mindcamp shuttle will leave from the airport once on Pre-Mindcamp Wednesday (4pm) and twice on Thursday (noon and 4pm). You need to book your flight to arrive a minimum of 45 minutes prior to a shuttle time. Remember that a domestic flight will go faster at this end than an international one requiring the attention of Customs and Immigration.

Your flight should arrive 3:15pm at the latest; even earlier if you’re coming from outside of Canada.

Book Sunday’s departing flight no earlier than 6pm. Remember if you’re flying to the US you will need to clear US Customs and Immigration here, before your plane takes off. So if you book a flight to leave earlier than 6:00pm on Sunday, you cannot rely on the Mindcamp shuttle to get you to the airport on time.

Here’s a link to the page with details.

The good news: Toronto airport has free WiFi! So even if you’ll have to wait around an hour, you can play on the internet for free while you’re doing it!
