That is an interesting concept. Would you mind elaborating on your statement:

<blockquote>Marketing is just a euphemism for NLP however.</blockquote>

I would like to hear it. Thank you :)

An example of one of my “goals” is to one day break free of subordinate employment and earn a living working for myself. Another goal is to walk closer to God and open myself to His will for my life. These things I consider as goals, as they are desired aspects of my life that have not yet come to fruition, but with persistence, diligence, motivation, and lots of prayer, perhaps one day they will.

Nothing is pointless, although I would be willing to argue both sides of that statement. From my perspective, I see everything as having a point, the least of which having to do with the fact that everything is interconnected at some level, and thus plays a role in the unfolding fabric of the space-time continuum.

You make a good point, I think, in that most folks have nothing to “fall back on” once discouraged. I know that for myself, I would have unloaded a chamber long ago if God hadn’t saved me from a life of living hell.

Good points, Czymra, although I think I would fear an “omniscient machine” that had been programmed to revoke my ability to buy, sell, obtain employment, or otherwise participate in society based on whether or not certain personal statistics qualified me to do so.

Human understanding is not required for software to make decisions and perform functions based on raw data. Omniscient control over the world’s activities would enable many automated processes to function outside the realm of human contemplation.

As alluded to above, information is empty. It's a set of data which, as long as it has no function or vector is useless.
Networking this information may be power, and yet it stays information, which is a set of words or codes, not understanding of a thing.
I fear no omniscient machine for it is man that creates meaning.

I'd say that "honest networking" while exchanging or communicating real values is no bad thing.
Marketing is just a euphemism for NLP however.
But hey, maybe I'm a little late to the discussion. ;)

I agree. Apathy and lethargy are everywhere. I have just returned to a job and the sheer amount of heaviness hanging in the air at the place is staggering.
I continue to find it hard to find that 'thing' you call a goal, yet I completely live the mixture of those principles you have outlined. I suppose that synthesis is all that is needed, sometimes you discover meaning, other times you create it for yourself. Yet, there seems to be little to fall back to if once discouraged, especially since it all seems pointless.
I suppose though that this is the lesson in itself.

Allow me to link you up to this nice article.. which snapped at my consciousness in a synchronicity kinda style. ;)
