2013 - A new hobby ... knives...

I told myself that for 2013, I need to get myself involved in a new hobby. Somehow knives caught my attention. So here's what I've got so far...

When I was in Hong Kong, I was looking around if they have any knives that I can bring it back to Malaysia, and I found the Victorinox multi-tools that I wanted ... and it's cheaper in HK compared to in Malaysia too. I bought 2 Victorinox. I've been carrying the smaller one around and used it a few times for everyday stuff... :)

As a birthday present to myself, I bought the Light My Fire knife and Heckler & Koch Instigator. I have not used both but planning on doing so when I go camping with some of the boys end of February.

First impressions on the Light My Fire - the grip on this knife is awesome... Just nice to hold and comfortable when striking the fire starter. The blade seems to be sharp and should not have any problems cutting meat or small branches.

The other knife that I bought is the H&K Instigator. This knife is not really a camp knife but I do plan to bring it for outdoor trips. The sheath holds the knife pretty good.

There is one more knife that I'm looking at which is the Ka-Bar BK7 which will be my birthday present. oh yeah!!! ... now let's see how these babies will work out...

and yeah... i will be looking at a few more other knives... maybe a Spyderco next... :)

Another year passed ... 12 months of ups and downs... at the start of 2011, i thought the year will be the most interesting year for me... new workplace and awesome friends to begin with... now that it has ended , here's what I think of 2011...

it was the most challenging year so far... mainly due to my work... the amount of pressure was always at an all-time-high... everything seems so new and demanding to me... but it's a great opportunity for me to learn and absorb all the experiences that I can gain... I think I can manage better in 2012...

the people that I love surrounding me has changed in a big way... everyone moved on to a different level of maturity ... the stuff that we talk are different over the course of the last 12 months... even I think my character changed a little bit... i've became more reserved... I look at people differently now... *not sharing my point of view on that....for now...

and yeah.. i found love in 2011... and it was something that I didn't expect to happen.. but as they say, you can't predict what fate has installed for you... it may still be a fairly new relationship, but I have a good feeling about this... she's somehow different... and it's different in a very good way... *i'll write about that some other time... :)

and to 2012, even though I didn't start it off with a bang (like previous years...) i think i'm going to enjoy this 12 months ride... so much is being planned now... for both my work and passion... i think i will spend a little bit more time on my passion... and see how that'll grow...

as for Malaysia, 2011 was a shit-filled year with the usual corruption cases and scandals... but the people of Malaysia are more daring and brave to speak up... which will definitely bring change in 2012...

let's just enjoy the next 12 months... The Mayans might be right.... ;P

lately i'm not thinking of where to go on the weekend or what to do tomorrow night anymore... I guess work has engulfed a big part of me of late... yeah it's a good thing.. but somehow i feel that it's killing my passion...

not that my passion has anything to do with my work... maybe that's the issue here... i can't seem to gel up both my passion and work...

i'm still looking forward to each day... waking up to a brand new challenge... learn while I still can... and let's just hope things changes in the coming months...

It hit me like a hammer to a nail... The impact affected my will to sleep... My head is filled with endless possibilities... I'm lying down here motionless... staring at the void , feeling the wind...

It's almost like the moments were in repeat... a replay of the dark times... with different scenes and characters... but the same decaying stench...

The minute has passed for hours now... still slumber is not possible... maybe I think too much... maybe I made myself a fool...

It's my choice from the beginning...but a hint of regret emerge from within... a little temptation to end this dream... the minute has passed... but it feels like I'm damned for eternity...

Malaysia again and again is being made to look like a country run by fools. Just to keep it simple... below are some points

Datuk T with the ~~sex scandal~~ PORN video who was shown in a press con style event. This itself broke both the law and religious teachings.

Mr Prime Minister's visit to Kazakhstan for his daughter's wedding using the Rakyat's money... Did he already justify his actions? I'm not so sure...

The naked squatting of 2 Singaporean females in Johor... ( i really don't understand why they need to do that)

Dr Yen Yen's RM 1.8 million spending on 6 facebook pages to promote Malaysia... this page had like 20k + 'fans' ... a Rakyat created a Curi Curi Wang Malaysia page and got double the number of people who 'liked' that page... and apparently now the official Cuti Cuti Malaysia page is gone from facebook. that means, part of the 1.8 million just went down the drain...

Government blocked a few sites, a group of hacker didn't like the idea, plans to hack a number of government related sites... Datuk Seri Rais Yatim said preventive measures will be in place... as of now, www.cidb.gov.my and www.politeknik.gov.my got hacked...

That racist Ibrahim Ali tried to use scare-tactics to say that he'll personally stop the Bersih 2.0 rally because according to him, the gathering will cause riot , car burning and so on... that rally is not even race related laaaaa Mr Pro-Malay... it's about a clean and fair election... *from what i just read, the rally couldn't get the police permit... damnitttt...

And i think all those happened within the past 2 weeks. And suddenly today, petrol price decreased RM0.10 ... tomorrow the news headlines will be about this price reduction... confirm!!! That's because there's nothing good to talk about anymore... and that's bad because the snap election will be happening soon... so my young padawans, please register yourselves and vote for a change!!!

Oh well... my ranting is done... and i'm going to sleep now...

Humans are a creature of comfort... We are so used to being comfortable in our very own bubble that most of the time we dare not explore past our self-made boundaries

be it friends,relationships,work or anything that requires change... We are always with the same group of friends, drinks at the same pub, afraid to get a new job, or just plain lazy to change the lifestyle we're used to...

The issue with this is, if we do not move past our so called comfort zone, we won't know what's installed on the other side. The worst thing about this is that, we CREATED this self-made capsule in our heads... And I'm pretty sure that we can also break through it and move out of it.

What's the worst that could happen? You loose some money?? You betray someone's trust?? You end up with one less friend?? But what do you gain??

We definitely gain experience, knowledge, and being able to live through moments that wouldn't happen if we stayed in our own shell of solitude...and some of these are a one-time-off deal...either you grab the opportunity or move on without a second chance...

Everyone thinks of this ... everyone knows what is needed to be done at the back of their heads... But why only certain people managed to live life and some don't?? I guess it's because majority of us are just plain lazy to start everything over again...

My advice is, fuck it all... At times, you really just need to tell yourself, JUST DO IT!!! That way you learn to live a fuller life...

As long as you dont die doing it, you have a story to tell...

after hours of downloading and patching... At last... STARCRAFT!!! Warm up till i get new PC for SC2!
