Tons of chlorine gas are used to make those PVC needles each year for those trees. Tell me, how green is it to dump chlorine gas into the atmosphere? Plus the energy consumption needed to produce it nearly equates that needed to produce equal weights of iron or steel. Don't believe me, look it up! Most tree farms require you to leave branches at the stump or pretty much have someone cut your tree at the farm for you so there are branches left on the trunk. Why? So the tree farmer can grow the tree back year after year much like a farmer growing crops. Old live Christmas trees can also be composted to be used as fertilizer for your garden.
