Past weeks I've worked on a Leman Russ to test a color scheme and some weathering techniques. I've found some interesting colors but I still don't know if I will use them for the Akuyaku.

I've made some work in progress pictures, it's not a step-by-step but you can have a preview of my working process.

First the model recieved a white base coat, my centaur for GD UK was base coated in black and it's been very hard for me to get the colors I wanted so I've decided to try a white base coat this time.
I've airbrushed catachan green (Citadel color) all over the model, Iv'e highlighted the color with light gray and white and finally added shadows with english uniform (vallejo model color) and chocolate brown (vallejo model color).
Then with burnt umber oil paint I've added some rust around rivets, and details.

Ces dernières semaines j'ai travaillé sur un Leman Russ afin de tester un schéma de couleur et quelques techniques de vieillissement. J'ai trouvé un schéma intéressant mais je ne sais pas encore si je l'utiliserai sur le Akuyaku.

J'ai pris quelques photos tu travail en cours, ce n'est pas un vrai pas-à-pas mais cela vous donnera un apperçu de ma façon de travailler.

Tout d'abord le char a reçu une sous-couche blanche, le centaur présenté au GD UK avait été sous-couché en noir et j'avais eu du mal à obtenir les couleurs que je voulais c'est pourquoi j'ai décidé de travailler sur une base blanche cette fois-ci.
Tout le modèle a ensuite été basé en catachan green (Citadel color) à l'aérographe, éclairci au gris clair et blanc puis ombré à l'uniforme anglais(Prince August/Vallejo model color) et au marron chocolat (Prince August/Vallejo model color). Ensuite j'ai utilisé de la peinture à l'huile ombre brûlée autour des rivets et autres détails pour simuler la rouille.

All the edges and rivets have been highlighted with a mix of catachan green, light grey and white (it's a looong work ;) ).
With blister foam I'm applying a mix of scorched brown and chaos black (both Citadel color) to make a chipping effect then I'm higlighting the bottom of these paint chips with the same mix I've used on the edges.

Toutes les arêtes et les rivets sont éclaircis avec un mélange de catachan green, gris clair et blanc (c'est looong ;) ).
Avec de la mousse de blister j'applique un mélange de scorched brown et chaos black (tous deux de Citadel color) pour réaliser des éclats de peinture puis j'éclaircis le bas de ces écailles avec le même mélange utilisé sur les arêtes.

To finish some Mig pigments where used to make more realistic rust and dust. Metallic parts were based with boltgun metal (Citadel color) and shadows were made with chaos black and badab black.

Pour finir j'ai utilisé des pigments Mig pour réaliser de la rouille et de la poussière. Les parties métalliques ont été basées en boltgun metal (Citadel color) et ombrées au chaos black et badab black.

Incoming Akuyaku - Akuyaku en approche

I've begun to build my next project : Akuyaku, the pig tank !
It's a nicely detailed model kit and not so hard to build (even if you need to build the same part 28 times -_-). Now some interior parts need to be painted before assembling the rest of the kit.

J'ai commencé à monter mon prochain projet : Akuyaku, le char aux cochons !
C'est une maquette bien détaillée et agréable à monter (même si l'on doit assembler 28 fois la même pièce -_-). Pour l'instant certaines parties nécessitent d'être peintes avant l'assemblage final.

Finally a new post and a great one ! :)

First I went to the Championnats du Sud In Blagnac (ok it's only 20 minutes away from my appartment... ) on 29th and 30th august and I took a silver medal in model kit category with my Death Korps of Krieg centaur and a bronze medal in master fantasy painting category with my last Pixie trickster, Sigvald and the Djinn bust.

Then with the Team Toulouse Création we went to the Monde du jeu in Paris invited by Mortebrume, I entered the same miniatures plus a dwarf miner at Ravage Mix-Open and I took bronze with the centaur in master diorama category.

Finally last week-end I went in England with Cédric "Broken teeth" Gurrera, Julien "Scrat" Cassès and Mathieu "Grizzli" Fontaine for the UK Golden Demon.
I entered the dwarf miner in Warhammer fantasy single miniature category and the centaur in diorama category. After a while we're all happy because our miniatures have all passed the first cut, we're all finalists !
The judgement continues, Mathieu, Julien and I are with the winners ! :)
Mathieu takes gold in Warhammer 40K vehicle category, Julien the bronze in duel category and I take gold in diorama :)
It's been a very good week-end in England, we'll be back next year !

Enfin un nouveau post et quel post ! :)

Tout d'abord j'étais au Championnats du Sud à Blagnac les 29 et 30 août. J'ai gagné une médaille d'argent en catégorie confirmé maquette avec mon Centaur Death Korps of Krieg et une médaille de bronze en catégorie maître peinture fantastique avec mon dernier Follet féérique, Sigvald et le buste de Djinn.

Ensuite, avec la Team Toulouse Création nous sommes allés au Monde du jeu in Paris invités par Mortebrume, j'ai participé avec les mêmes figurines plus un mineur nain et j'ai gagné le bronze avec le centaur en catégorie master diorama.

Pour finir, le week-end dernier je suis allé en Angleterre avec Cédric "Dents cassées" Gurrera, Julien "Scrat" Cassès and Mathieu "Grizzli" Fontaine Golden Demon anglais.
J'ai inscrite le mineur nain dans la catégorie figurine individuelle Warhammer fantasy et le centaur dans la catégorie diorama. Après un peu d'attente nous étions tous contents de voir que nos figurines avaient passé les présélections, nous sommes tous finalistes !
Le jugement continue, Mathieu, Julien et moi sommes parmi les vaiqueurs ! :)
Mathieu gagne l'or dans la catégorie Véhicule Warhammer 40K, Julien le bronze dans la catégorie duel et je gagne l'or dans la catégorie diorama :)
Ce fut un excellent week-end, nous reviendrons l'année prochaine !

On the workbench... - Sur le plan de travail...

It's been a while since my last post.
I've done some procrastination, but I'm back now :)

So, on my workbench there's a Forgeworld's Death Korps of Krieg Centaur. A tiny tank that will be part of my display for Blagnac and Ravage Mix-Open. Preparation has been long, now it's time to paint it !

Après un peu de procrastination, je suis de retour :)

Sur mon plan de travail on trouve un Centaur Death Korps of Krieg de Forgeworld. Un petit char qui prendra place dans mon display pour Blagnac et le Ravage Mix-Open. La préparation a été longue, maintenant le temps est venu de le peindre !

Hello, I've painted a lot the last two week-ends.

First another Pixie trikcster painted on the Game Festival of Toulouse.
We were making painting demos and initiations with the Team Toulouse Creation during all the week-end. The mini was painted firday evening, the base sculpted and painted saturday and on sunday morning the mini was pasted on the base.

Next a rhino painted last week-end with airbrush.
It's not a GD painting level but a tabletop + quality.

Bonjour, j'ai beaucoup peint ces deux derniers week-ends.

Tout d'abord un autre Follet féérique peint lors du Festival du jeu de Toulouse.
Nous faisions des démos et initiation à la peinture avec la Team Toulouse Création durant tout le week-end. La figurine a été peinte durant la soirée du vendredi, le socle sculpté et peint le samedi et le dimanche matin la figurine a été collée sur son socle.

Ensuite un rhino peint le week-end dernier à l'aérographe.
Ce n'est pas une peinture niveau concours mais de la qualité tabletop +.

Hello,
I've been a little busy the last month, I've finally found some time to paint :)

First you can see Sigvald Herald of Slaanesh that I've presented at the French Golden Demon, it didn't take anything but the level was very high this year.
I've replaced his shield by a claw sculpted in miliput.

Next you can see a bust of Djinn sculpted by Nicolas 'Avangard' Pougis (http://modelsculpt.wifeo.com/) inspired from an illustration of Greg Staples for the trading card game Magic : The Gathering.
It's still in progress, nothing's finished.

We've also done with the Team Toulouse Création a sculpting masterclass with Allan Carrasco, you can find the pics here.

J'ai été un peu occupé ces derniers mois mais j'ai finalement retrouvé du temps pour peindre :)

Tout d'abord vous pouvez voir Sigvald, Héraut de Slaanesh que j'ai présenté au Golden Demon Français, il n'a rien gagné, le niveau était très élevé cette année de plus je l'ai peint assez rapidement durant la semaine précédent le GD.
J'ai remplacé son bouclier par une pince sculptée en miliput.

Ensuite vous pouvez voir un buste sculpté par Nicolas 'Avangard' Pougis (http://modelsculpt.wifeo.com/) inspiré d'une illustration de Greg Staples pour le jeu de cartes Magic.
Il est encore en cours, rien n'est fini.

Hello !
I'm back from my first figostage as a trainer. This week-end Werwolf and I were animating a painting course in Agen near Toulouse. The subject was the miniature of Garlan de Brall sculpted by Allan Carrasco for the game Alkemy form Kraken Editions. We've both painted a mini in the past weeks to show the final result to the trainees and demonstrate our painting techniques.
We've developed metal(with True Metallic Paints, TMP), cloth, leathers and skin painting.

I've converted it to make it look like the Aurlok Crow Thunder-Warrior from the game Alkemy.

On september 20th and 21st there was the Championnats du Sud an Open Competition in Blagnac (near Toulouse). Sara Zingaresce, the Meteor of the Aegis and the Pixie trickster were on my display and won the bronze medal in master paint categorie.

On october 4th and 5th I've been to a sculpting masterclass presented by Cyril Roquelaine, you can find some photos here.

Ethernia's base - Le socle d'Ethernia

I needed some tall grass for Ethernia's base so I've written a little tutorial explaining how I did.
I've added in the tall grass some real grass so it seens more random and natural.
I've also added some wood, sand, static grass, ... so the lower part of the base looks like a nest where the "little beasties" live.
Next step : painting !

J'avais besoin d'herbes hautes pour le socle d'Ethernia, j'ai donc écrit un petit tutoriel qui explique comment j'ai fait.
J'ai ajouté dans les herbes hautes des morceaux de vrai herbe de façon à ce que ça semble plus aléatoire et naturel.
J'ai aussi ajouté du bois, du sable, du flocage statique, ... de façon à ce que la partie basse ressemble à un nid où les "petites bêtes" vivent.
Prochaine étape : peinture !

Planting tall grass - Planter des herbes hautes

Here is a little tutorial about making tall grass on a base.

Voici un petit tutoriel pour réaliser des herbes hautes sur un socle.

First the materials :

a pair of scissors
a modelling knife
cyanoacrylate glue
some plumbers hemp (see picture below)

Tout d'abord le matériel et les matériaux :

une paire de ciseaux
un couteau de modélisme ou un cutter
de la colle cyanoacrylate
de la filasse de plombier (voir photo ci-dessous)

Step 1 :
Split the plumbers hemp in two equal parts and cut 4 or 5 centimeters.
Séparez la filasse de plombier en deux parts égales et coupez là à une longueur de 4 ou 5 centimètres.

Step 2 :
Twist tightly the plumbers hemp and put a drop of glue in the middle.
Entortillez la filasse de façon à ce que les brins soient bien serrés et déposez une goutte de colle au milieu.

Step 3 :
When the glue has set, cut in two parts.
Lorsque la colle est sèche, découpez en deux parts égales.

Step 4 :
Repeat these steps as many times as needed.
Répétez ces étapes autant que nécessaire.

Step 5 :
Drill holes in your base and "plant" each part in a hole with a drop of glue.
Percez des trous dans votre socle et "plantez" chaque part dans un trou avec une goutte de colle.

Step 6 :
Untwist the grass. Cut it to adjust the length but do it randomly so it will seems more natural. With a brush add some movement to your grass.
Désentortillez l'herbe. Coupez la pour ajuster la longueur mais faites le aléatoirement de façon à ce que ça paraisse naturel. Avec une brosse mettez en forme et ajoutez du mouvement à votre herbe.

The kroot has won the first place at Games Workshop Painting Open in Warhammer 40K category, the mini is still exposed in the store, so I'll post pictures in few weeks when I've get it back.

Kroot & Jester

Two new works in progress !
First an evil jester sculpted by Sebastian Archer (aka automaton), I saw this mini and I instantly knew how I'll paint it. So here it is, yellow and purple.

And a Kroot that I decide to convert a little so it looks like an Aurlok Crow Thunder-Warrior from Alkemy.

The pictures are bad :( but it's still work in progress so stay tuned to see these mini finished ;)

Deux nouveaux travaux en cours !
Tout d'abord un méchant bouffon sculpté par Sebastian Archer (alias automaton) que j'ai eu le plaisir de rencontrer lors de la World Expo. Dès que j'ai vu la figurine j'ai su comment j'allais la peindre. La voilà jaune et violet.

Et un Kroot que j'ai décidé de convertir légèrement de façon à le faire ressembler à un Guerrier Tonnerre du Corbeau Aurlok du jeu Alkemy.

Back from World Expo - Retour de la World Expo

This week-end I was in Girona (Spain) at the World Expo 2008 with many members of the Team Toulouse.
It was a wonderful event meeting painters and sculptors and seeing minis from all over the world.

I had just finished the meteor the day before the expo.
My display composed by the meteor (picture below), the pixie trickster and the keeper of the woods won the gold medal in general fantasy category.
My friend Laurent Exposito Mas won the bronze medal in master fantasy paint category.

Ce week-end j'étais à Gérone (Espagne) à la World Expo 2008 accompagné de plusieurs membres de la Team Toulouse.
C'était un événement mémorable plein de rencontres de peintres et de sculpteurs ainsi que d'admiration de figurines venues du monde entier.

J'ai fini le météore juste la veille de l'expo.
Mon display composé du météore (photo ci-dessous), du follet féérique et du gardien des forêts a gagné la médaille d'or en catégorie général fantasy.
Mon ami Laurent Exposito Mas a remporté une médaille de bronze en catégorie master peinture fantasy.

New year, new apartment, new internet connection and new miniatures ! :)

Here is the version 1.2 of my diorama named "Kaboom ?"
I've added 2 gretchins encouraging the first one.

So, why no updates ?
I've moved last month but I still haven't my internet access at home :(
My provider (http://www.cretin.fr) makes me troubles :

first I had to call them 3 times before they connect my line
then they "lost" the MAC address of my box :/
and now I'm waiting for a technician...

Maybe friday the 18th...

J'ai déménagé le mois dernier mais je n'ai toujours pas d'accès internet à la maison :(
Mon fournisseur d'accès (http://www.cretin.fr) me fait des misères :

tout d'abord j'ai du les appeler 3 fois avant qu'ils raccordent ma ligne
ensuite ils ont "perdu" l'adresse MAC de ma box
et maintenant j'attends le passage d'un technicien...

Enfin, peut-être vendredi 18...

My last painting, a dwarf from Enigma miniatures.
The base was built on a masterclass with Jérémie Bonamant.
It's the first time I use TMP(True Metallic Paint).
The dwarf is painted with a lot of dark green/brown colors to represent a dwarf living in the forest from many years(centuries?).

Ma dernière peinture, un nain d'Enigma miniatures.
Le socle a été réalisé lors d'un stage avec Jérémie Bonamant.
C'est la première fois que je réalise des métaux en TMP(True Metallic Paint, peintures contenant des pigments métalliques).
Le nain a été peint dans des teintes vert/marron sombres de manière à représenter un nain qui vit dans cette forêt depuis de nombreuses années(siècles ?).

Another finished painting... or not. I've built this diorama for the French Golden Demon 2007.
It didn't won any prices but some people send me many comments about it, so I decided to add more life on this big empty base. Soon you'll see it with more gretchins and maybe some cacti.

Une autre peinture finie... ou pas. J'ai réalisé ce diorama pour le Golden Demon 2007 français.
Il n'a pas gagné de prix mais plusieurs personnes m'ont encouragé et m'ont donné leur avis, j'ai donc décidé de rajouter plus de vie sur ce grand socle trop vide. Bientôt vous pourrez le voir avec plus de gretchins et peut-être quelques cactus.
