Miron Construction teamed up with the district and architect Bray Associates to design an addition and renovate the existing building, creating a true example of a green school. In the Top 10 LEED for Schools projects worldwide, Lake Mills Middle School ranks number 58. In the Top 10 LEED for Schools projects in Wisconsin, Lake Mills Middle School ranks number one.

by Miron Construction

Neenah, Wis. – As one of Wisconsin’s largest construction industry employers, Miron Construction Co., Inc. announces its support of efforts by Governor Walker to streamline the process for Wisconsin veterans to get back into the workforce.

“We’re fortunate here in Wisconsin to have one of the most skilled workforces in the entire country,” says Corey Brumbaugh, vice president of business development for Miron. “Our leaders in Madison continue to play a part through their support and commitment to the Wisconsin workforce. Wisconsin Working helps lay the groundwork to connect people who need jobs with businesses that need workers. Despite the budget challenges we face as a state, we’re encouraged that Governor Walker has launched this effort to kick-start our state’s workforce.”

In addition to being one of the larger employers in the state, executives at Miron Construction work with policymakers in Madison and Washington to support efforts to get Wisconsin residents back to work.

“Whether it’s our support of regional economic development organizations like New North, Inc. or the Milwaukee 7, we’re doing what we can to help create jobs and keep Wisconsin’s economy moving forward,” says Brumbaugh.

by Miron Construction

Neenah, Wis. – The 13th annual Quarry Quest held at Michels Materials Quarry in Neenah on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, welcomed more than 15,000 visitors, one of its largest crowds ever. The strong attendance helped Quarry Quest raise more than $90,000 for various children’s charities in the Fox Valley Area in 2011, bringing the total raised over the event’s 13-year history to more than $1 million.

“We are very excited to have reached such a great milestone in Quarry Quest history,” said Craig Uhlenbrauck, co-chair of Quarry Quest. “Each year we set out to make the event bigger and better than the last, and we couldn’t have made this happen without the help of our local volunteers and businesses. We also appreciate everyone in the community who supports and attends the event.” More than 100 businesses and 1,000 volunteers helped make Quarry Quest a memorable experience for all attendees.

The money raised at the event benefits the Quarry Quest Environmental Educational Fund, which is dedicated to funding grants for classroom supplies, activities and field trips related to earth science, geology and construction. “Not only are we able to educate kids and families the day of the event, the funds raised ensure that learning continues all year long,” stated Holly Luehring, co-chair of Quarry Quest.

Quarry Quest’s major sponsors include Michels Materials, Miron Construction Co., Inc., FABCO Equipment, and the Operating Engineers Local 139.

by Miron Construction

Lake Mills, Wis. – Lake Mills Middle School was recently awarded a 2011 BUILD Wisconsin “Design-Build – Renovation” Award, presented by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Wisconsin. Miron Construction Co., Inc., the design-builder on the Lake Mills Middle School project, received two additional awards. Award winners were selected based on sustainable practices, unusual design and craftsmanship, innovation in construction techniques or materials, meeting difficult challenges and client satisfaction.

The project team working on the Lake Mills Middle School Addition & Remodeling project sought to increase teacher interaction, create unique learning spaces, improve accessibility, increase connection to the neighborhood, be cost-conscious, replace outdated systems and integrate sustainability into the new and renovated spaces. The school district desired a revitalized home, one that was bright, naturally day lit, high performing and colorful, to serve the mission of their district. The 59,865-square-foot addition was built and the existing 36,632 square feet were renovated into a 98,527-square-foot, multi-level, green school with final costs coming in $700,000 below the approved budget.
