Rotorua, the city which full of nature adventures and nice food around !!!
And yea ,I LOVE ROTORUA

One of the most breathtaking moment in my life.
My first time for White Water Rafting and i chosen Kaitiaki Adventure

Nau mai Haere Mai means Welcome in Maori Language

                        They have two options which is Sledge it! and Raft it !

                       We choose Raft It ! at Kaituna River which cost 82NZD(at that time)
                         (they have promotion and free us tickets to Hell Gate...Max worth)

                                       Price now in 2010 have increased to 85NZD

                The whole adventures took us axproximately 3 hours
                 included 45minute-1hour on river

           Once we decided and paid for it....everything will be on our own risk...
        They will provide us a paper for us to sign....which i called it as death note.

   Helmet, life jacket, and booties.

Their titanium wetsuits - comfortable and warm for those winter months

Haha...i love it though....

Honestly ...im scare to the max but i acted im looking forward for it

Once we arrived by Kaituna River ,

Our guide ask us do some Karakia(prayer) to Respect Wairua(spirit)

which is for allowing us to show respect to the people of the

river (Ngati Pikiao) - those who live now and those of years gone by.

The traditional spiritual side of the trip added to an awesome

experience and made it a total unforgettable rafting

( i do started to mumble and following the guides prayer in maori language...

and felt frighten...even started to shivering )

We started to raft on a rapid bumpy river and come trough the 3m falls....

This is fun lol.............

but some of the water look scary in big swirl...

And there we go...ready for the 7metre water fall...

Heart beats drop out...

Guess what ? I prayed so hard to the spirit and hope that the raft doesn't flip over....and my mates are shouting lets flip...lets flip......and tada.....the spirit heard my words !

We do fall deep into the water but surprisingly it float up on the right way.....and my ass still stick hard on the raft.

                               and thanks for bringing us back safely

My Next Mission have to be Sledge it !! still absorbing courage for it !

3 years ago, MAS flight fly me to New Zealand which allowed me to discover the best gems ever in this world .

                                           The Youngest Country On Earth

New Zealand is a WOW!WOW!WOW! place for me . I used to tough that NZ is a country side country which i was totally SO wrong ! ...

New Zealand really surprised me for the whole 2years .
as i never knew that our mother nature do left
something really precious on earth

Why New Zealand is my Dream Destination ?

   Because ............
                      They are the most nature aka pollution free country on earth

Its contains the most beautiful nature view

Its have been Rated one of the safest Country and City in the world

They have the most natural adventures

They have tracks that allowed you to explore 4 season a day

They have all wonderful botanic in different seasons

Do you love Oyster ? or even Mussel ? I never really like this kind of seafood as its taste kinda fishy when i first ate in Malaysia.

But.....but ...but .....on our new year trip around north island.....On the way to Cathedral Cove...we stop by a small shop for little lunch :

yea...its by the road side

                                                    And their only menu are ...
   100% Fresshhhh Oyster & Mussel
   its darn cheap isn't it ?

                           We started with a half dozen half sell of Oyster 9.40 NZD
                           Coz most of us really afraid of the fishy taste .

                                  We were all surprised with the 1st bite....
                                          Its was so FRESH and JUICY
                         most important there's no any fishy taste or irritate bites..

                               At here,they provided quite many type of sauces .
                                    I cant recalled what they have ....
                               My favoritism with oyster is Tabasco and Lemon

I went into the shop again for second order, and found out

they are cleaning and steaming the mussel which i smell the freshness .....

i ask for some original hot steam mussel ....

they are great enough to sell us some ....

It was darn FABULOUS !!!

(Felt like they catch from the back and straight away cook in front)

We then went in for 3rd order.....hahaha

(due to all of us are afraid at 1st ,deeply fall in love in the end)

We bought some marinated mussel...Its like 5.50NZD per small bucket.

They have various of marinated

We took lemon bucket and garlic .

                                    Although its have been marinated ,
                                      But its still remain the freshness
                                   SEEE ........ (Ahem....its look like something private tho..haha)

Everyone are so happy with the Oyster and Mussel

haha...we had our 4th order too...

I cant explain how fresh and how nice it was...

All i can said is They have super premium Coromandel Oyster and Mussel

which you can't get to eat these freshness in Msia

I miss this place..... Its a place where i love to hang out for dinner . I get to know about this place is when someone told me that there's a Cafe Bar in Mt Maunganui which named it Kina Cafe Bar....OMG...its Kina Cafe...and My name is Akina...Its sound like i opened this cafe (drool)...

On my first visit , I've truly fall in love with this place. Its warm and cozy inside...

Continue from part 1 .

Kiwifruits Packhouse packing season aka peak season is from April -July . Some ends earlier while some later (depends on the harvest season/weather)

But don't get me wrong , Its doesn't mean that Kiwifruits Packhouse only open 3 months a year. They do works for like 8-10months (approximately) per year.

Within the period that i've joined Trevelyan , I have experience a lot :

April - July : Kiwifruits Packing Season (required the most vacancies)

July - October : Kiwifruits Re-packing Season (only selected WHS will be joining)

October- November : Avocados Season (only permanent stuff)

In my previous post , i've wrote about ~~April-July .~~

I still remembered that when come to the end of packing season , all of us are afraid yet nervous ,wondering that do we get the job for Re-packing coz if we don't we need to move all the way to south island for winter jobs .

I am honored that me and my housemates ,group of 12 have been chosen to joined their repacking season.

Basically what they do in re-packing season is to re-pack all the packaging which have been pack in packing season before export to other country. This is to ensure the quality of productions .

This jobs required to stand at least 10-12hrs per day (smoko every 2hrs) .

No doubt ,its a boring jobs .Why? Coz your only jobs is to :

take a box of kiwifruits (various size,various amount) > Open the box and take 2-4 kiwifruits each time > turnaround view 360 degree to check any rotten or cuts.

Routine for 24/7 till end of seasons.

Last day of Re-packing (lol..i look so dumb)

But ofcourse, We do play,joke ,sing and dance around....Its real fun when i recalled back now. Its also challenging sometimes when they are in rush of sending orders out . We need to be Turbo Fast ,Efficient and most important Qualities !

it was their last day...my both lovely companions in NZ all the while (their photo with Hobbit n Gay)

At the end of the seasons in November , Each of us are required to bring some handmade food for share lunch (party) . I've made Curry Puff,Banana Muffin, and...i cant remember eh... haha.. its really fun .The permanent staff do present us some maori songs and performance ..

Oh ...and...we were requested by Gay ...She asked us (our group) to sing or perform them our Msian culture...

We were so panic..don know what to do nor either have any rehearsal.In the end we sang a fast version of Rasa Sayang and Moon Represent My Heart (direct transalate) . Its was such an embarrassing time ! But they do seem enjoying Rasa Sayang.

The group of us who sang...funny part was...there's Hong Kong-nese n Taiwanese Join with us...haha

Wonder how come i rated them the best packhouse to work with ? Join them and you will find out why .

I know i have been absent on my blog for quite sometime, I promise i will balance my time to consistency drop something special here .
oh...and im Flying to NZ again soon!

Today im gonna share about the best seasonal job place I've worked in New Zealand.

When i mentioned "Seasonal JOB" or "Horticulture Jobs" or even "Viticulture Jobs"...What do you think of ? How did your imagination shows ?

Peoples that i've shared about , Never had a clear pictures until i told them wasn't that way and they will be real surprise about it.

When i mentioned about kiwifruit pack house ,which will you think of ?
Seeka ?Satara ? Apata ?Eastpack?Hukapack ?

For me.....Its always Trevelyan's !!

Why Trevelyan ?

Because ...

TREVELYAN's , A very peaceful environment which never let you feel homesick,A place where you meets all the great people~
A place where you work with all awesome and caring management team (Gay ,Jodi ,Linda,Brenda etc).
A place that i Experience the most hectic repack season with Trevelyan(compulsory 12hours per-day... and compulsory repack 1000 pallet per-week)which was scary but enjoyable~
Last but not least~A Place and peoples that i would never forget in my life. Thanks for the opportunities being with Trevelyan in the year of April 2008-November2008 .

In peak season , They have 2 shift which is day and night shift .

Every shift ,they have few hundreds of candidates playing (works out) with the KIWIs.

Although jobs are kinda boring as you do not really required your brain to function + routinely same jobs but Its really an amazing time .

I worked in night shift and i love it to the max.Jobs at 6pm to 3am .

The atmosphere was so warming and the background radio music...recalled me of some elder permanent staff...they love to switch from pop radio to 50's 60's music..which made me unforgettable.

Packing seasons started in end of march all the way to june .

They used to do celebration when peak season ends. The management get so well prepared for all the WHS candidates .

We have gathering celebration with all the WHS around the world

The prepared 'HANGI' for us which was Maori's Traditional meal.

(a must try food in NZ)

Its really taste special. (although i don used to the taste)

Ok...I knew its doesn't look tasty and i bet you must be wondering whats that .

Its actually contains Chicken , Pork,Mutton,Lamb and with generous portions of root vegetables such as kumara (sweet potato),pumpkin,carrot,potato,onions and cabbage.

What i meant its special because its doesn't contains any salt but some might add up some herbs like rosemary or garlic

Where do you normally go in weekend ? in KL is always shopping ,shopping ,drink n drink or club all the way.Which is kinda bored for me . That's one of the reason why i love being at home rather than go out jammm...packed...waste alot of money with no reason..which are not relaxing at all..

What a sunny sunday today.Made me think of a place which i used to go every weekend. I truely love this place..which i can relax, had a walk,track or picnic...even swimming and surf...which gave me lots of relaxing and happiness place...i love the sea breeze..the wave sing...I miss this place so much...2years in New Zealand . Mt Mauganui leaves a lot of memories in it.I had lots of fun here.. I even had my romantic first date there.No matter how far i live , i will still go there...Here..i would like to share some wonderful pictures that i snap in different time different moment in Mt Maunganui,Bay of Plenty , NewZealand

This is the best weather that i have ever capture @ Mt Maunganui which i think its really nice...so blue and so green!we went on a track...see those stairs ? its high...i counted every steps...weather too good..not a good idea to go on track...its damm hot!!

Best Time to Go New Zealand

I really sorry for the late due to i am real busy since December...ive been keep bugging from readers . Thanks for bugging so that i will post now again.

When did you plan to go New Zealand ? Some might say winter so that can get to see snow and some might say Summer so that can escape from winter .

For travelers , Its really depends on what you will like see in NZ but in terms of jobs (Working Holiday) i would recommended you the best time to go will be in Late March .

Why late march ?

In my previous post , i did mentioned about how seasonal job cycle works round year .

Late march is Autumn which i think is the fabulous season to help you to get used with the unstable cool weather in NZ .

But in terms of seasonal jobs , it would probably be the best time.

Peak Season jobs in March-July will falls at Hawke's Bay and Bay Of Plenty .

If you are going in late march it would be the best time to go Bay of Plenty instead of Hawkes Bay .

The demand of people in Bay of Plenty will starts from late march throughout june.

This will help you get a stable job for the whole season instead of job hopping and moving around.

Where else in Hawkes Bay the demanding of people will be in late january-march .

Which means when you go in march ,they do not need much worker anymore , which will give you hassle of not getting full time job or even jobless .

For me , I think march is the best time to earn good money which will allows you to earn and save enough for traveling .

However If you plan to go early than march .It will be possible as well .

Plans :

Arrive Auckland in mid to late January .Take a flight 1hrs/bus to Hasting 8hrs(Hawkes Bay) and look for jobs in Blueberries ,Apples ,Can-food production factory , and many others fruits.

Jobs will last you till april . So in late march , you either have to start email/call for jobs in Tepuke or Kati-Kati ,Bay of Plenty .Or you will easily get jobs once you arrive there .Main harvest will be Kiwifruits.

Kiwifruits peak season will end in early july/some are in end of june .

By then you may pack your stuff and head towards South Island . Best time to go south island is winter time . You may either starts your traveling or go for winter pruning in Blenheim , Marlborough Sound .Main jobs are all outdoor jobs in Vineyards ．This really needs hard work and willpower.You will earn real good money if you could hold the cold-ness and the pains from your hand and vain after too much of works on it.Winter pruning end mid to late september .

By end of september , You could probably give yourself a big big break . As they will be less (i mean it ,real less jobs ) due to its time for fruits to grow.

Its time for you to travel and feel the environment around .

This will last up to 2-3 months.But no worries , you will still get some jobs out there.

By November you may either go back to Hawkes Bay for some jobs or go to Central Otago in December for jobs...like Cherries .

Above its just the way i did when i was in NZ for my second year . Which really helps me to travel and works the whole NZ.

You may based on my previous post on which and where to work .

Basically its all in one big routine . Timing is very important . If you go in a wrong time or even wrong place , you will probably waste a lot of money and waste your once life once working holiday permit period .

Booking a flight have not been so easy till MAS launched flymas.mobi which you can book a flight on the go .Not only that ..you may even check your flight status ,online check-in ,Deals & offers and etc ..all are on your fingertips .

I have tried it and its real cool that i must share with everyone .

Log on to flymas.mobi by using your mobile phone .

I used my Blackberry Curve to test on flymas.mobi .

Once you are in flymas.mobi , There's the options that you can choose from .

Lets start from Book Flight (click on Book Flight ) and its will show as the following , choose the destinations ,date and flight classes .I tried on flight to Auckland but system shown error so might be there's no flight available on the date .

I am impressed ! Its so fast and efficient ,Its pop out all the time and availability. There's a MH LOW for MYR101..Click on the time ...

Forgotten your booking ?Need to retrieve ? No worries , Click on My booking and fill in your 5digit booking number(PNR) and your last name to retrieve.

Online Check-In ? No Problem ...Click Check-In and key in your E-ticket number which is 13 digit starts with 232 .or your PNR number.

Picking someone from airport ?Not sure whether they flight have been delayed or the status of flight ? Go to Flight Status , Key in your flight details or Flight number , Which i key in MH0606 SIN-KUL .
FYI : Flight number is always 4 digit , even if your e-ticket shown MH95 ,You still have to key in 0095 )

Checking for flight timetable ? Not sure which flight time suit your schedule ? fingertips click on Timetable,

I am gonna mixed up my blog by writing about where to eat and food review.I love food so much ! If one word to describe my love with food ,it would be INSANE !!

I love to try new things ,I have the biggest curiosity in me.
Everytime when i get to knew why this shop is so famous and why that shop is so infamous ,its actually digg my curiousness out to check it out...

And here ......Lets talk about Palate Pallete !!!

Where I get to know about them ? Hmmm...oh...that time i was googling on where to have my birthday party and drop by someone blog ...then the next day ,my colleague told me about them too. So i started to surf online before i go there , I rarely go to places without surfing to find out what nice and what not.

Here we are,Me and Joan !!Its actually take sometime for us to find the locations...When at my first sight in the car , I do have little disappointment coz i tot was a huge place...end up just a cozy place...

But When i step into it , I knew im gonna love it!!

Once i sat down , I started to became CAMWHORE !! sigh...haha~ I love the cozy place , The atmosphere with nice music background , lights and arts ..was awesome!

I love the art drawing at the left ~ So cool!!

Back to our table ...Fresh flower and candle~ I love details...

Drinks wasn't that cheap actually but consider OK for a superB chill out place
Started with coffee ,Tea or Chocolate Crazy ?
I ordered Iced Milo Viennese (caused by curiosity) wonder how they taste .Its was chef recommended and i do pray for not disappointing me.
Surprisingly...Its was nice..I mean it! Nice!Never knew Milo can look so classy with full of whipped cream . price : MYR 9.00

Sorry Sorry all~ I know that i promised some of you to update my blog but then i totally failed due to really really a busy month. Company annual dinner just end which gave me abit of extra time to update . Okok ....no more nonsense.^^

Lets talk about the topic you guys/girls always wanted to know .
Many people keep on asking me :
How do you find Job In NZ ?
What Kind of Job We do ?
Where do we work?
Izzit hard to get a Job ?
Etc ~~Etc !!!

Ok.....Let me give you some idea. I cant post all the jobs contacts person number due to securities purpose i have yet get a permission from them .
However ,I will try my best to give you a clear pictures and ofcouse im happy to assist you if you need some help ^^

For me , Its actually not hard to get a job in New Zealand When you learn to know when and where is the peak season on going .
I'm going to discuss more on Horticulture Jobs . Some people did asked me that why didn't i go for Agriculture jobs . Hey dude ,Easy and Hard job with same pay ,Ofcoz i go for the easy one !! I did went for agriculture like milking cow but that's just for part time to experience .

In NZ , We have to based on Which season work in which region . I used to moved around in NZ which i think is kinda awesome coz at the same time , I can do my travel.

Season Period in New Zealand.

This is the New Zealand Map.All the highlighted region is where you could get more range of Horticulture Jobs .

Lets start from upper North , I cant give much comment on Northland due to me, myself have not work there before . I have worked in Waikato Region before which was in Pukekohe ,
I worked in a Potatoes Factory which they produced potatoes for Potato Chips and also in an Onion Factory (one day ciao~i cant stand the dust pollution and the onion which keep on made me cried)

As you can see from the job chart that Northland and Waikato Job demand is not that high a.k.a Jobs might be kinda limited but but but..if you are going to backpack there ,you can go in the middle season to get some job too..

The Following two region is My favorite place. I stay there for long time.

BAY OF PLENTY ,Plenty of Kiwifruits and Avocados .The Place which i really familiar with . As i was there for 2 season .I was in Kati-Kati for the first season working in APATA packhouse for 3 months and for the second season , I settled down in Tepuke for nearly 8months working in Trevelyan (pronounce as tri-vi-liens) coz i used to pronounced Travel-yan ~haha .I honestly LOVE Trevelyan.

From the chart , you can see that peak season falls in April-August ,Which is a very busy period in orchard or packhouse coz was harvesting seasons .
Good time to earn traveling money .

While in Mid-August throughout November is Re-pack season.

At this time , Packhouse normally cut-off 60% of people . For those who get a chance to work in Repack period is lucky one.

In this region , They gather all different of Kiwifruit packhouse , which you do not have to worry about jobs.

Hawke's Bay ~ A place with pot of GOLD! As you can see they produced many type of fruits/Veges .

I used to lived in Hasting for jobs. I loved Napier and Havelock North . They have many extraordinary scenery over there.

I have tried most of the job listed in this chart ~ Real great experiences !

Marlborough , The place of vineyard . They have more than 110km wineyard which caused shortage of people working every year . I was in Blenheim for the winter that time .Its really a hard work but earn good money too. Nice experience.

Otago !! It was another place where you get job easily in the right season.I honestly have yet work there before , but i know its a nice place to explore when you are backpacking over the nearby region.

Does it sound complicated for you ? For me is just simple and nice . No worries that i will be sort of $$$ while traveling .Its always wise that if you plan your travel direction prior in NZ. So that you know when to work ,when to stop , when to travel ...

Let me tell you about Working Holiday in New Zealand

Ok...Trevelyan is a Kiwifruit Packhouse instead of Farm .
Trevelyan is the best Packhouse that ive ever work with.
Inside the packhouse what they to is to pack all those kiwifruits for export.
Basically job inside was very very easy .They have jobs like
Grading (grade all the kiwifruits into A,B,C classes) ,
Packing (machine will automatically drop you some fruits and you pack into the boxes) ,
Staker (normally guys do it ...they stake all the boxes into a pallet )

All the jobs above required to stand .If you able to stand like 10-12hrs a day ,there should be no problem.

WoW!! your flight ticket seem to be really expensive.
For oversea people whom was on Working Holiday Visa in NZ , The employer whom you work with have to minimum pay you 12.50 NZD +8% holiday pay PER HOUR .

I work 6 day per week for like 55-65 hours per week . I normally earned 650NZD perweek .

Living cost over there not really expensive .

Accommodation in Backpacker per week is 80-100 NZD
Trevelyan do have accommodations which will be much cheaper.

Food normally cost me 20-30 NZD per week .

so 650NZD - 100NZD-30ND = 520NZD to save for travel .

So i think within one month , you can earn back your flight ticket money.

Many people thought that i went New Zealand to "Jump Flight" (work illegally) . If you too think so , You are really outdated and no sense at all.

No doubt, There still some stupid people will have done such stupid thingy to "Jump" to NZ and work ILLEGALLY .Totally dumbest dumb !!

I have a friend who really interested to explore NZ by using Working Holiday Visa.When she tried to explain to the parents , The parents said that Work in other country means you will have to "Jump flight" there .Hey~cmon la!!

Obviously , many people do not have the knowledge on this.

New Zealand immigration are really good ,They provided different kind of Permit Program (no age limit) for oversea people to have some exploration with seasonal Job in New Zealand.

Let me tell you what kind of permit do they offer.

1 . Working Holiday Scheme(WHS)

Most common way to explore . Everyone are eligible once in a life time only.

To be eligible ,You must:

have a Malaysian passport that‘s valid for at least three months after your planned departure from New Zealand
be at least 18 and not more than 30 years old
not bring children with you
hold a return ticket or sufficient funds to purchase such a ticket*
have a minimum of NZ$2,250 available funds to meet your living costs while you’re here
meet our health and character requirements
be coming to New Zealand to holiday, with work being a secondary intention for your visit

not have been approved a visa or permit under a Working Holiday Scheme before.

pay the correct fees
attach evidence of your employment in the horticulture and viticulture industries, such as letters from your employers and Inland Revenue Department statements
provide evidence you have an outward ticket(you may booked one in flight centre), or sufficient funds to buy one
send the application to the nearest Immigration New Zealand branch as this type of permit cannot be applied for online.(No worries , Is safe to mail your passport in New Zealand.use courier service)

Once you hold a variation of conditions under this policy, you may only work in a region where the Ministry of Social Development has declared a seasonal labour shortage.

First thing to do is to buy telecommunication sim pack .
They have Vodafone and Telecom .

Vodafone(021) which was prepay sim pack cost 30-35NZD come with some credit inside.Huge range of benefit and plans.check it out~

There's wide range of airlines nowadays . Some based on their price and some based on their services .As for me, I based on everything. The price ,services and safety are important for me.

For long haul , i definitely will go for a comfortable seat,unlimited services,food and entertainment.

For short haul especially when im going for backpacking of course i don't mind for a limited in-flight services with a budget price.

Sometimes , Its good to be calculative. I know its tempting when you saw a budget airline

having huge promotions and their air-fare is either free or only few bucks

but don't forget that doesn't included with

taxes ,luggage,meal (insurance,preferred seat ,comfortable kits)

once everything add-on ,

it might be the same with other airline or only a bit cheaper.

My advice is choose and compare wisely

No doubt, Malaysia Airlines have been my preferred choice since i was born.

Although price sometimes are costly but if you follow-up with their promotions, i'm sure you will get promotions fare ticket which is equivalent to budget airlines or little extra more.

I got my MAS flight New Zealand return flight ticket at promotions price which is only MYR2850.00

Im satisfied with the long haul journey. I remembered so well that our flight departed at about 10pm (msia) and arrived in Auckland at about 11am(NZ).MAS provided 3 meals if im not mistaken . Dinner ,Supper,Breakfast and desert/ice cream/snacks at certain time. Its seems like i was eating and drinking all the way to New Zealand .

Their entertainment are best due to i'm sleepless for the 10hours . They have the most updated movie , music , radio,games.

Here I am ,landed in Auckland Airport.I became nervous wondering what will the immigration officer ask me . At the arrival point , speakers surrounding keep reminds us that No food and drinks are allowed , Please declare it.Luckily i did not have any of this.Continue to walk along the path way , Auckland airport isn't that big .Its kinda crowded at the control point .

Control point is where you have to get ready with the the following documents for officer to check :

Passport
Completed passenger arrival card.(you will received a arrival card on flight)
Working Holiday Electronic visa (if you have)

They might ask for extra document :

a return travel ticket or evidence of onward travel arrangements
evidence that you have sufficient money available to fund your visit.

Q up for 30minutes ,Its our turn .A woman officer with smile on face that made me felt better .She even can speak good mandarin .Impressed!

Exit...and wow...i've totally step into New Zealand !The airport is small.
There's a I-Site on your left side where you can get alot of infomation from them.

I am kinda disappointed for a second when i walk to the main entrance because all the while i have been expecting too much .

We did not think too much and get on to a cab which was totally regret . Its took 20 minutes drive to our motel where i booked located in Newmarket and its cost us 80NZD which was RM200 for 20minutes.

Public Transport
The best choice to take a public transport would be Air Bus or Super Shuttle

Super Shuttle is good as they do door-to-door transfer which cost 30NZD per way from airport to Auckland City Centre

To Bring Or Not To Bring 004

You might be started to think what should bring and what should not bring to New Zealand~

As i mentioned before my luggage is 30kg .In the end ,realized that more than 50% of stuff that is not even being touch.

Here's is some of my 2cent of opinions and idea

Luggage

1.Backpack Bag

Highly recommended Backpack bags ,70L will do . So that you will not exceed 25KG baggage allowance.Some people might think its very heavy .Believe me,you will feel totally different.

Why Backpack ?

Easy to carry
Free Hassle
No problem when going on a small car
Never overload
Easy to carry on bus

I personally like High Sierra and The North Face brand . Its might cost abit more , but their quality and design its good.Best part they are lifetime warranty.

This is The North Face Backtrack 70L .

Which i think its suitable for everyone.

It came with a clip-on daypack bag which you can separate them and put your important stuff to be carry-on flight .

I love the compartment in this bag which you can pack all your stuff neatly.Its very durable .

Although this model might be costly but its worth it if you are having alot of long term backpack travel.

If this is out of your budget , you may look for a cheaper one which have almost the same design and feature but do not buy china brand ,you will end up regret.

2. Trolley suitcase Luggage

29" is enough because if you get a bigger size like 32" ,34" ,you might face a biggest problem when you need to travel by car.

Having a suitcase , you will need a small laptop backpack bag for your important stuff to carry-on flight.

Compression bags

This is always a must for my luggage . Its help alot to leave more space for your luggage.Its help to compress but did not help on weight.

Pack bulky cloths (winter cloths) and roll the air out through one-way valves, creating up to 80% more packing space. Nylon bag is waterproof, durable, odor-proof, and easily compressed.

Where to buy : For people in Kuala Lumpur ,KK and Singapore,
you are able to get in DAISO JAPAN , which cost RM5/SGD2 per piece. Its come in different size.

I use size 60cm and 45cm.

3. Multi-Pocket Security Belt

For safety purpose while on flight or outdoors activity , Its recommended that you have this such belt .Especially on flight .You never know that people who sit next to you is what kind of people.

The worst part of being alone in oversea is when you lost your Money & Credit Card , Passport and Visa ,Mobile .etc etc .

This is small,thin and adjustable which you can tight it on your waist ,underneath you cloths.

4.Travel wallet

Must have for people clumsy like me.

Good of organizing all you travel documents ,Flight ticket , Passport ,Visa,ID ,All type of cards and different currency notes. Pen and Emergency contact must have too.

Recommended to bring along

1.Lonely Planet

Without this book, you probably will miss out many wonderful places .You can find all kind of information about NZ ,

From Transport ,Accommodations ,Travel ...Really every things you need.

I personally went to those recommended places and accommodations , Its superb!!

Loney Planet NZ :

Go on, do it! Skydive, bungy jump, go white-water rafting. Wander along one of NZ's aptly named Great Walks. Engage with Maori culture and lore. Immerse yourself in the healing heat of a geothermal hot spring. Pick the chapters you want, ditch the ones you don't.

Where to buy : you may find it in most of the bookstore. Price is RM95-RM100.

2. Sleeping Bag

Some of the backpackers do not provide duvet and blanket. SO this is the best for you to bring along.

Sleeping bags have many type . Get the right one is important. Choose those with light weight and suitable for cold weather.

P/s: you can buy one in NZ warehouse ,but its kinda expensive .The cheapest which lack of quality one is 50NZD .For better sleeping bag is 100NZD-200NZD .

3.Medicine

Medicine in New Zealand is kinda expensive compare with Malaysia and some of the medicine required doctor prescription before getting it.

And there's a limit dosage for medicine .Flu and Fever pills is a must .

Ladies don't forget your menstrual medicine.

Counterpain will be your best friend while you work as a fruit picker or outdoor jobs. you hardly get this is NZ . Even you found it,its cost 10NZD for one .

Sunblock - As everyone knows that New Zealand UV is very high so basically sunblock will provide the essential protection against UV radiation.

Whitening Cream - Must have . You cant get to find any whitening stuff in NZ .They only sells tanning cream.

4. Personal stuff/Entertainment

Digital Camera/DSLR

you are totally noob like me if you didn't bring a camera with you . I was darn regret that i did not have any camera for the first 6months in NZ.

After NZ , I totally fall in love with photography

Cant you see...how sexy is this Nikon D5000

Laptop/Notebook

Honestly New Zealand entertainment is not that happening.They are famous with their Nature Environment. Laptop is your lover in NZ .

External Hard Drive

to store your photos and share/copy music and movies from others

Personally likes SEAGATE brand. Its more stable compare with my others external hard drive.

MP3/MP4

How can you don't listen to Music while Traveling ?

You may also listen while working to ease the bored of routine jobs

A Batch of Passport size photos -you may need if while applying for job and visa

Renew you Driving license to prevent expire - Advice to have International driving license .

The First Big Step ~At the Departure Hall

On the day-21st March 2007 flight at 9.45pm .

I started to packed my cloths into baggage at 3pm . My heart was so painful while packing all stuff...its was a big rush and i started to cry .

I am sad and scare , started to worried about the whole journey . I knew its was too late for worrying.

Its was a tough decision though but im superb glad that i've made it which have change my whole life and my mindset.

It's was 5pm , My cousin came and pick us up to KLIA airport.My mum and My cousin sister is going with me to New Zealand for holiday . Is always better when family is by your side.

On my way to airport ,I received many text message and calls from friend .Almost breakdown my heart when i heard friends crying. I do not allowed any friend to send me to airport .This is to prevent those unacceptable feelings.

Arrived airport ,checked-in and dinner in McD .Funny to say that , I started to feel panic and stress . My mind totally went blank . I just started to feel that im going on a long vacation .

So i started to do something important :

Cancel or froze all the whatsoever subscribed line , membership .Anything that required payment.If not you might end up having debt

Contact: mobile telecommunication to Turn on your International Roaming or Temporary freeze your line so that you do not have to pay your basic package bill up to 3months .(or you may walk-in to appeal for freeze line up to 1years which they might charge you if you really need to keep the numbers)

ATM Machine : Create an Internet Banking if you do not have one . Its much more easier for you to keep track on your transaction and no hassle on transferring money back to your hometown account .Its help alot for those who needs to pay loan or debt monthly.

My best choices ,Maybank -For International fund transfer - is the most efficient. Fast , Reliable and high conversion rates without any charges when your money transferred successfully .Get done with all your favorite third party transfer so that you do not need to request alot of TAC number while in NZ.

Advised to do all the important things 1 week before leaving .

Out of sudden , My best buddies pops out in front of me . I was shocked .

They gave me a box with photos and slides show with my favorite song. (but i am not dare to open the CD until 2months after coz i knew i will cry like hell)

Time to depart....My cousin sister started to cry while waving hand to us. My tears at last broke down as well. Its an unforgettable feelings.

In departure hall , Friends started to call again. The last call i answered was my love one . Can you imagine how heart broken am i ?

5 minutes to feel the sadness ~ relieved and keep going~Be strong

10 hours and 15minutes flight~ ~ Long Long Haul~ Im having fever~~can't sleep ~Enjoy in-flight entertainment ~ Meals ~Dessert~ The services .

A Big Turning Point that changed my life

I never consider of going overseas to study ,stay ,explore or whatsoever.

Recalled me for that moment in Jan 2007

"My mindset was set-up in Malaysia~ I'm just a typical 18 years old teenager at that time . For me is simple , I enjoy my life in KL , doing crazee things with my peeps around me ,close to the one i love . It's seems like life is quite happening here . I don't think i need to change."

Till one day , Mommy asked me to go out and explore the world.

My mum is a very open-minded person . She's kinda western style.

She told me :

" You are old enough now , Its time for you to explore!

Don't you think it isnt a good idea to stay in KL forever ?

If you don explore , you never know whats happening in the world outside .Go and explore others culture and life they are surviving.Explore the Sour , Sweet ,Bitter ,Hot in your Journey ."

This kinda wake my mind up~ But it doesn't really works coz i never want to leave my besties and loves here .

Without my permission , Mum bought me a return flight ticket to New Zealand . Flight date was 21st March 2007, return 21st May 2007 .

Its was a very hard time of me to make this decision and started to think , 2 months 2 months ...only 2months , Maybe i should give a try to go.Treat as traveling around.

So I told mum , Ok deal ..2 months , Just 2 months. I will go. But if you want me to go without any hesitation ,Buy me VIP tickets for my idol LeeHom concert which cost RM500 per tix . I will go once i finish the concert . Who knows , My mum dealed with it! (im cheap right ?haha)

I commit to my promises.

I did not do any research on web regarding New Zealand.I only booked the first 2 night Hotel .Im not interested to know anything about it .Which normally people do was, they will research on accommodations , travel , job etc .

I did not even get any preparation . I just bought a backpack bag and a pair of gloves for myself.Mum prepared everything for me ,she packed alot of cloths for me .My luggage itself is like 30Kg.

Days passed by very fast.....
