Mister Shape iPhone Collector's Playing Cards = Free Shirts

The Mister Shape virtual collector's cards are out there. Collect them all if you can, collect only 3 for a T-Shirt.

Go to the iTunes App Store to download Kingdom: Cines & Sages. It's a GPS location-based social mobile game for iPhone (it also lets you check-in and provide status like Bright Kite and Foursquare).

In the game you can claim land and battle for parcels around you in the real world. You can earn achievements based on where you go and what you do. You can also pick up virtual items on the world map, by being there in real life.

Mister Shape has released 10 virtual playing cards around the map (about 100 of each card design exists). Collect 3 unique cards, and you will earn the Bronze Achievement in Kingdom. Collect 6 to earn the Silver and collect all 10 to earn the Gold.

Collecting 3 playing cards qualifies you for a free Mister Shape shirt. If you live in Arizona, drop by Gangplank to pick up your shirt. If you live outside Arizona, leave a comment on the 5D blog, developers of Kingdom.

Intel Shapes and Glyphs

A little Intel birdie told us about some sweet new visual brand elements and marketing efforts that have the power of shapes written all over it.

Intel is taking a hint from Target, Nike, and Apple and is incorporating 16 new glyphs/shapes into its branding. The glyphs were created from recurring shapes that were found throughout the microprocessor's features as the silicon is processed. They're hoping that the glyphs help make the Intel brand more recognizable like Target's Bullseye and Nike's Swoosh.

Overall, we applaud the move and the courage from a large technology company to put their trust in visual elements to create an impression. They do need to understand they are developing a secondary visual signature, not a dominant visual element. One simple, dominant visual element (Target's Bullseye, Apple's Apple) is a lot easier to remember than 16 complex, unrecognizable shapes ;) Though we do think the visual signature, if used over time, will become recognizable as Intel's...perhaps to the point where the elements can speak for the brand without the logo.

Flags by Colours

Shahee Ilyas created these unique signature pie charts by slicing and dicing flag color data. Flags of countries were analyzed by a custom made python script to calculate the proportions of colors on each of them; then translated on to a pie chart using another python script.

Blogger Purgatory

For the past 5 months the Mister Shape blog has been in blogger purgatory. We lived in a stratnge middle-world where the blog was neither recognized by the Blogger system as an old Blogger blog or a new Blogger blog. As a result, we could not publish for 5 months. Additionally, we could not export our blog into WordPress or other means because Blogger would not recognize our old login. We are grateful Google and Blogger corrected this problem and the Mister Shape Shifter Blog is now running.

Posts will be infrequent until June, when we will revamp the blog and other aspects of Mister Shape.

Mister Shape T-Shirt Care Instructions

1. Wash warm, dry low (or air dry).

2. To preserve main artwork, turn your shirt inside out.

3. Although you should not expect any significant fading, was colors separately from whites, especially on first wash.

4. Our shirts are made from 100% ring spun combed cotton. Expect about 5-7% shrinkage after first wash.

Very nice GMaps hack mapping flights into 7 Major US Cities. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, sitting in the middle of the 5th largest US metro area, and 7th busiest US airport (based on 2004 data) was skipped over..but hopefully we'll be included in the next round.

Wii Remote and Personal Space

When your Wii remote is in your hand and an enemy hits you, you hear it in close proximity to you because the remote has a speaker. When your virtual hand (cursor) that is guided by your remote rolls over a button on screen, you feel a slight force-feedback pulse coming from the remote letting you know you are 'touching' something. These proximity experience cues change the context, bringing virtual interaction into your personal space. Nintendo does it again.
